Now, as a Pennsylvanian, you normally run into people who say, "Oh, I hate this hot weather," and then in the winter, they say, "Oh, I hate this cold weather," as if they haven't lived in PA their entire lives! But doing all this hard work to prepare for the wintertime here in PA worked up an appetite, so I decided to head down to Rice & Beans in Harrisburg. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by decor that teleports you right into the heart of the Dominican Republic. The staff is very friendly, the bathrooms are super clean, and so is the rest of the establishment. Parking is a little tight, but the indoor seating makes up for it. Rice & Beans Restaurant Now let's get to the best part: the food! You're able to see everything before you order, which is great. This time, I got myself some rice and beans, of course, along with some bistec. The rice and beans were a little dry at first, but the more I ate, the better they got! I paired my meal with a cola. Although I didn't get dessert, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wonderful food. I would definitely go back and eat here again because I like seeing what I'm getting--it makes it super easy to pick out what I want, especially if your taste buds aren't super adventurous. I hope my review helps you figure out where to eat next. Feel free to check out my YouTube channel (@brandenleebutler) for more reviews!

I am here to do a review!!…read more As I find myself driving a semi-truck, those long stretches on the road always work up an appetite. Since changing my diet and becoming more of a fitness fanatic -- nothing like the Philly Fanatic, but close -- I've been more selective about what I eat. Still, Philadelphia holds a special place in my heart, and when I got off the road and I was craving a cheesesteak. I couldn't find a good cheesesteak spot in the Harrisburg area. I remembered the place off 13th Street, but they no longer sell cheesesteaks and the restaurant has changed. So I switched gears and decided to get some fish instead. It was only 9:30 PM, and At Hookers Seafood & Fish -- an amazing place based off the consistency but it had already closed at 8 PM. Back on the hunt for food, I stumbled across Got Jerk Island Grill and Juice Bar in Midtown Harrisburg. The moment I walked in, it felt like I was teleported straight into the heart of Jamaica. Caribbean vibes everywhere -- lounge chair up front, Bob Marley on the walls, and a laid‑back atmosphere that made me feel like I should've had a coconut water in my hand. I talked to the chef and told him to give me his best dish. He served me curry chicken, rice and beans, sweet plantains, and cabbage. I have to say -- it was the best curry chicken I've ever had. The chicken was tender, cut perfectly, and shredded apart in my mouth. It fell right off the bone, and the curry had just the right amount of spice so you could still enjoy the full flavor of the meal. That's when I knew the chef knew exactly what he was doing and chose the right cut of meat.

I had ordered my food to go & immediately threw it out after maybe 4 bites to give it a chance. plantains are always good so, I ate them. genuinely butthurt about how this place went down, but see ya never I guess.
