My family member loves this place and I can totally understand why. Qui is an absolute master of the kitchen and creates the most stunning and delicious dishes. Came here for a private event and every bite we had was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Could not have been more pleased with her takes on the customized menu. I ordered a filet of beef which was cooked perfectly and the delicate fish on my companions plate was beautifully cooked as well. I'm a huge sauce gal and her sauces rival that of the highest French trained saucier. Ditto for the deserts. Harrisburg has a heck of a gem in this restaurant and I'm jealous of the folks that get to enjoy a meal here regularly! he food was outstanding, but the service was equally impressive - attentive, friendly and seamless throughout the entire event. I made our reservation a month before and asked to be seated inside. They seated us outside and it was the worst experience! All of us (party of 4) have over 5 mosquito/bug bites. (They did give us bug spray but it did not repel anything!) I did ask our waitress if they were able to move us inside and was told no. Dinner: The truffle pasta is a MUST if you love truffle! (You can order in half or full plate) The Calamarata dish was superb! We did put in a request for a special dessert and they were able to accommodate as best they can. One of the greatest meals in the history of mankind. Every morsel was exceptional. The kitchen and front of house staff transport you from Harrisburg's surly bounds with their efforts. Servings are generally modestly-sized dollops of excellence. There are exceptions (looking at you, enormous lamb shank). Prices are commensurate with the experience. One may only speculate that this is where lobbyists come to convince state legislators to support various clients' pet projects. No other discernible reason for it to exist. read more

From mocktails to apps to dinner to the service, everything was impeccable. The Dalmatia Spritzer was so good and made it fun for me to be at an event where I'm unable to drink due to pregnancy. The mustard on the cheeseboard was phenomenal and paired great with the hard cheeses, and the pickled veggies were a wonderful addition, as well. The caprese was unique as they were unable to source mozzarella and had to substitute blue cheese which I was a little skeptical about but turned out great. The grilled calamari was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. My steak was cooked perfectly and was the best steak I've ever had. Back for an outstanding dinner. Wonderful server. This certainly remains one of the best gourmet options in Harrisburg. Not too busy on a rainy Thursday. For starters, we shared heirloom tomatoes and a pasta with truffles. Great to have these two together. Pasta was pricey at $50 but truly delicious. Blame it on a nice amount of shaved truffles and truffle oil! For main I had a branzino which was perfectly cooked. Served with too many potatoes though. Would have preferred something green rather than the heavy potatoes. Others might disagree. The star of the night was a filet special with sheep milk fondue, escargot and mushrooms. All the flavors and textures worked together in an inspired way. We had a glass of wine each. Loved the white I had from northern Italy in a German style. Crisp and well described by the server. Everyone raves about Mangia Qui and I just don't understand why. I felt like it was hipster pretentious without the food chops to back up the atmosphere. I was here for lunch with co-workers in a group of 12. We were seated immediately and ordered beverages. I had the mandarin orange iced tea which tasted exactly like the Celestial Seasons Tangerine Orange Zinger tea that I make at home. We ordered and three of us ordered soup. I had a special seafood soup; I forget what they called it. I was surprised when it was served that it was green and very thin and runny. There was some sweet crab garnish that I enjoyed but the soup was heavily spiced with cumin. It was odd. After we completed the soup everyone's entrees started to come out. Two at a time. With large gaps of time in between. When I received the the crab cake sandwich that I ordered most of my coworkers were already halfway through their meals. The bun was much larger than the crab cake. It was served with french fries that were clearly from frozen. When I took a bite there seemed to be a lot of filler and the whole thing was really squishy. So yeah, I don't get why people rave about this place. Truly a gem in our community. We have eaten there for many years and have never been disappointed. The menu selection is unique and varied. Food preparation is just fantastic. The dishes are not found at any other restaurant in the central Pa area. Wonderful spicing and complementing sides finish the presentation so well. The wine list is thoughtful and varied. Wines by the glass are quality selections which we don't see in other establishments. I confess I've never had their desserts because I'm so done after the appetizers and main entree. Came here last Sunday with an out-of-town friend. I've been here several times and they never disappoint me. Very consistent in their quality. Ordered off their somewhat limited brunch menu. We started with 2 Bloody Mary's. Luckily, there was a crab omelet special that we couldn't pass up. The omelet was a generous size and cooked perfectly- very light and fluffy. The creamy sauce on top went well with the crab. Side of vegetables went well with the omelet too. Restaurant is very comfortable. Staff was a little loud in the bar area though. read more

This is my favorite restaurant. I literally cannot say enough good things about it. The drinks are balanced and innovative. The quality of the food is second to none. The seasonal menu is a delight. The only way to do it is a four course meal, appetizer, half order of pasta, entree, dessert. The Santiago cake and the bread puddings are the top of the list when it comes to dessert. They shuck their oysters so cleanly. The oyster happy hour is an amazing deal. Only once in a blue moon is there a dish that is sub par. Deceptive payment process!!! They automatically add 20% to all tabs, which is fine however I think it hurts the servers as many of us regularly tip more than that. What they don't do is specify that the tip has been added to the total when the bill is presented. The other night I picked up the tab for a party of six. The bill look like any other bill I have closed thousands of times before. There was a total, about $550, and a blank line for the tip. I thought the bill seemed high because we only had one bottle of wine and no other drinks and only one appetizer. But I was engaged in conversation and filled out a tip well over $100 and signed the tab. There was no mention that the tip was already included in the total. The server didn't remind me of it either. I have seen where other places listed the total, the automatic tip, and a blank line for any additional that one chooses to add. This was not that and IMO is extremely deceptive. read more

We had a reservation for 18 on a Monday evening and they accommodated us in their upstairs room that we had all to ourselves--including a bar! The two waitstaff were amazing and our glasses were never empty. Many ordered the raw oysters as an appetizer and the consensus was that they were fresh and tasted good with cocktail sauce. The risotto was to die for! For entrees, I ordered the prime rib, which was huge and cooked to perfection. The roasted potatoes that came with it had some kind of seasoning on it that I wasn't too fond of but my friend next to me was happy to take them off my hands after he finished his meal and was still hungry (he's a big guy). The meal didn't come with a vegetable or salad. A few people ordered the filet mignon and said it was barely warm when delivered. That was the only complaint that I heard of. We made reservations for Rubicon, but, due to Covid, it was outdoor seating with the Suba or Mangia Qui menus. I loved the outdoor seating area. It was cozy and had pretty white lights draped over the tables. The street is blocked off for the outdoor dining, which makes it feel like a European bistro. As evening crept in, the servers had blankets to offer for those who needed them. Our server was great and had a mask and gloves on as is the protocol nowadays. We ordered the bakers' dozen oysters and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus as our starters. The oysters were delish as always. I had no shell bits in mine and was happy that they were filled with oyster liquor. The appetizer we shared was delicious: tender-crisp asparagus and goat cheese wrapped in prosciutto. It was topped with a yummy celery/parsley sauce and was a nice start to the meal. The bread here is one of my favorite parts! It's a lovely experience to be eating warm bread outside, under the lights as the sun sets in the shadow of the state capitol building. My only complaint is the portion size of the entrees. I have eaten at both Rubicon and Mangia Qui several times, so I know this was not they typical size of entrees. My husband ordered the porchettato and was given 3 pieces of the stuffed pork. The pork tenderloin was stuffed with dill and fennel and, while delicious, is not filling. The cannellini bean tomato salad that accompanied the pork was very good. I ordered the Anatra: grilled magret duck breast with Parmesan polenta. The polenta was super good! The huckleberry and fig sauce was a nice balance of sweet and tart snd paired wonderfully with the rich duck. My portion size was good and was a half duck breast, but it felt incomplete. There was a good amount of polenta, but no other side. I guess we are accustomed to seeing the plates a little fuller, especially at this price point. We ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees and multiple drinks and though all were delicious, we actually left feeling not fully satiated. With all the restrictions restaurants are under, some things need to be changed in order for them to make a profit. I will continue to support our local restaurants, but just know you may get less bang for your buck at the moment. read more

Am I in harrisburg or in some back street food gem in East Village NYC? Food is locally sourced and fresh. You can totally taste the difference! The environment is very intimate, and very relaxed. It's on the cusp of being ultra classy, but casual enough to go both ways. Perfect for a buisness lunch, or dinner date. I tried their Massachusetts oysters with migionette. The oysters were clean, ultra smooth and buttery to the toungue. It needed very little, if any migionette. Highly recommended! The pulpo (octopus) salad was a party of flavors. Perfectly cooked pulpo mixed with a delicate balance of vinaigrette, fava like beans and lettuce. I shamefully left the plate without a trace of food. My dessert was an expresso martini. It did not have any bottled, pre made ingredients. It was fresh, bold and tasty. The service was stellar, though the environment could use a few more touches downstairs. Let me start with I know that the owner of Mangia Qui also owns Suba and Rubicon.. Having been to both, this place confused me a bit. I am a loyal Rubicon fan and everyone was extremely kind servicing us at Mangia Qui with some familiar faces from next door for breakfast on the crappy rainy day. This would be a place I would take my family out on a forced formal dinner or a business dinner. I do not know what energy everyone is describing at this place but it felt very stuffy to me instead of the intent of intimacy (just sharing my thoughts). As far as a place to have a breakfast, I wasn't sure what I was expecting and I don't think it was executed properly. I had heard from friends and reviewers rave about this place for breakfast so I took my cousin here. Honestly, I wasn't impressed culinary wise. The taste was very much the same next door. I guess I was expecting more Italian notes but was confused by the wide ranges. I have no problem paying for a culinary experience as I comb through some of the reviews I see that comes up as an issue but honestly I don't know what I was expecting here and was hoping for more. We got the Bebop benny which contained lackluster flavor porkbelly (mind you we did try this one for fun) and was hoping for the five spice flavor to come through but it did not. We also got the El Benedicto which felt like it was drowning with tomato sauce. I could not distinguish what from what in terms of taste. When I imagine tomato hollandaise on my benedict, it is a heavy drizzle of hollandaise at most on my eggs, not soup. I saw other people order normal Benedicts and they looked pretty good. Maybe it was bad luck....our waitress wasn't very informative either. Alas. Needless to say, I do believe in second chances but we will not be coming for breakfast as per recommended. I'm from Harrisburg originally but have lived in Philly for nearly a decade. Whenever I'm back in Harrisburg, I go to Mangia Qui. It is, without a doubt, my #1 absolute favorite restaurant on Planet Earth. I've been there countless times and 9 times out of 10 the food is outstanding. As for the other 1 time, the food is transcendent. I've seriously never had a bad meal there. It's a bit pricey, especially for Harrisburg, but you get what you pay for. The dishes are creative, well-balanced, and generously portioned. The ingredients are fresh and high-quality. The tapas bar upstairs, Suba, is also excellent and is owned/operated by the same folks. Don't think too hard about it, just go. Get the linguini vongole or the lamb. Thank me later. read more

I've dined at Mangia Qui quite a few times and it is delightful. The food, the service, the drinks and the ambiance are all wonderful and a great addition to Harrisburg Dining. I have had so many things from the menu and they were all delightful. The beef carpaccio was heavenly, the scallops were delightful - and the grilled figs are just divine! I have had the Tuscan Rib-eye that is just am amazingly huge piece of beautiful beef - and the Grilled Lamb chops were the best I've ever had. We have had a few of the daily specials as well, the rabbit was delicious! We've taken children and family here and there is something for everyone - a sheer delight for the senses. I simply cannot say enough good things about Mangia Qui...we come here often and can't wait to come back. The menu is a little limited so frequent dining is a bit challenging or you would be eating the same things over and over again, but it is certainly part of the rotation. read more

Normally, I would give Mangia Qui five stars without hesitation, but last night's experience was disappointing. We made a reservation several days in advance and looked forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary with a fine meal. Instead, we were seated at a solitary, tiny table between two large groups that dominated both sides of the narrow room. We were treated as an afterthought. Servers bustled back and forth to other tables while we waited. And waited. It took more than an hour simply to get an appetizer. Finally got upstairs to Suba, the Spanish Tapas Bar that compliments the Italian restaurant downstairs. Wow. I mean really - wow. Everything was incredibly fresh and high quality, the decor is really relaxing and beautiful, the service great, I'll go ahead and say this is my favorite spot in Harrisburg hands down. Tried the Fritura de can grejo - seasoned crab fritter fried with a spicy chili cream sauce, Alcach ofa Frita - crispy fried artichoke with a dill horseradish dipping sauce, and Monte caballo - almond stuffed dates wrapped in peppered bacon with cabrales cheese. All were magnificent. I mean really unique and wonderful combinations of flavor. The martinis and sangria were also delicious and just right. Mangia Qui does a pretty decent lunch. The food is good and not too-too overpriced. It was super crowded when we visited, but our waitress didnt take to long to get our food ready. Our parties lunch consisted of: blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich 12, Filet Mignon burger 12, Lamb burger sliders 12 and Chicken Diablo 9. Pretty much everything has already been said in the other reviews. Fresh food, trendy upscale atmosphere, nice selection of Wines, and a great Tapas Bar upstairs (SUBA). Review of Suba Tapas Bar: Came here after dinner to meet up with friends to go to Suba. They were still eating at Mangia Qui and although I didn't eat dinner there, the mixed grill looked amazing and that is definitely on my list to try. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly and gracious and even let my friends bring their wine upstairs. Suba was packed that night to see a band called The Greatest Funeral Ever and they put on a great show. The sangria was very tasty and the venue, while small, was cozy. I liked the atmosphere and decor a lot and have put this place on my list of fun places in Harrisburg. Will report more after I attend the Carnival event on February 24. read more

It's a nice alternative for lunch. Prices aren't terrible, the quality is good, the ambiance is a trendy "ladies who lunch" type of environment. Service is top notch. It can get crowded quickly. I had heard a lot about the crab cake but I found it to be just a typical (albeit good) crab cake. Most of the lunch time menu options are proven favorites of what I call the "trendy semi-upscale" lunch menu. Salads, sandwiches, and pasta. The have an neat variation of a grilled cheese and tomato soup, blackened mahi-mahi, Caesar salad, the crab cake, a filet sandwich, etc. Definitely a great place to go when you need to get away from the cube-ville ambiance of the office and enjoy a nice meal. read more

The Fig special appetizer had the right amount of sweetness to set my palate up for a fantastic Lamb Chop dish. The chef has a great intuition for introducing varied flavors that emerged like a symphony in my mouth. The California Cus Cus had a little bite that was soothed by a touch of goat cheese. The obligatory mint was provided via a lightly coated zucchini. The bread is baked on sight and the service wasexcellent. What started as a meal on the run became a fine dining experience. The presentation is attractive and the prices are just for the food and experience. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed with a classy flair. Music plays in the background at the perfect level while you dine. It's not too noisy of an atmosphere, but it is buzzing with great energy and chatter. This is a choice spot for a romantic dinner for two or a business lunch or a girls night out! A casual but classy little restaurant right next to the Harrisburg capital building. We were road tripping across PA and wanted to stop for lunch. The lunch menu was moderately priced with an enticing selection of normal lunch foods turned up a notch. Instead of burgers, they offered a filet mignon sandwich that i ordered. It was excellent! Beef was well seasoned and just perfectly pink and moist- no need for ketchup or any sauces. It was layered with sweet onion rings, thick generous cuts of peppered bacon, and Gorgonzola cheese that gave it a little bit of a kick. Fries were crispy and delicious. I would have given 5 stars but the waitress spilled water all over my friend's lap and seemed just mildly apologetic while the other waiter even made a joke about it which I thought was pretty rude. It also happened to be really cold outside and he had to walk back to the car in wet pants. So good food but they need more professional staff. read more

They do offer the menu from downstairs (which looked great), but I chose three tapas: I started with the sautéed greens. My favorite dish. It was a large portion and tasted great. Next I had braised octopus. A small portion, served over garbonzo beans. The beans were great. The octopus was just average. Next I had the sautéed calamari. It was supposed to have some kick to it but it was not spicy at all. It was, however, a nice sized dish with very good flavor. Service was great. I look forward to returning to try the downstairs menu, along with additional tapa upstairs. A good Harrisburg find! read more

Was fabulous and wonderful when we visited last year. What a difference. Way overpriced and very small portions. The food was good but not memorable. The seafood appetizer was fantastic, the artichoke- meh and the beets- pass on them. We had two specials, the halibut over risotto, the nudi and then the duck from the regular menu. The food came out cold and we sent it back. Only two tables in the restaurant-so not busy. The nudi (big ravioli type dish was fine but hardly spectacular. The duck was better, but not by much. The halibut was very good but the meager portion was surprising. At $52 a plate it should have been substantial. The desserts were tiny and disappointing. Dinner and two drinks for 3 was more expensive than most meals in Manhattan. Nope. Not again. read more
