So sad to be writing this review. I used to love this place & introduce new people to it. however after today, definitely not going back. walked in, not a single greeting or anything. ordered sorrel, it was not fresh & literally the last of the barrel because there was no more after my friend tried ordering one. beef patty was soggy & obviously not fresh. jerk chicken was dry as hell, cabbage was terrible. I had ordered my food to go & immediately threw it out after maybe 4 bites to give it a chance. plantains are always good so, I ate them. genuinely butthurt about how this place went down, but see ya never I guess.

I finally got to visit yesterday and the experience was amazing. The juices and beverages are delicious, so healthy and refreshing. The food was INCREDIBLE, the flavour were just amazing and left us all feeling great. The bartender/chef was so friendly and told us about all the drinks and food on the menu. The music and energy was great. We all felt like we were on vacation! If you are visiting Harrisburg - stopping here is a MUST!

Absolutely amazing food and staff!!! I was a little hesitant only because it's in a gas station. Let me tell you, don't let it deter you, I'm grateful I chose to order the. Best jerk chicken I've ever had IN MY LIFE!!! The chicken burrito was out of this world sooo good and so was the chicken bowl with rice. Great burger and fries as well. We devoured them as well as the meat pies. I'm high key obsessed. Best staff ever.

This place is shared with a gas station but don't let it fool you! The food was amazing I had Jerk Chicken Mac n Cheese, Beef patty and wings! They had a load of customers and still were able to make my food in decent time! Definitely recommend calling in for a shorter wait time. I was only there for 10-15 mins though. But I highly recommend them! Go and taste !

Loaded jerk chicken fries, beef patties, pineapple Calypso plantains

Found this place on Yelp because I was craving some Caribbean cuisine, especially plantains. It's a small counter inside a gas station, nothing fancy. Also, there's no tables on-site so everything is takeout. I ordered the loaded Caribbean jerk fries, four beef patties, and pineapple Calypso plantains. It took a while for them to prepare my food, but that's understandable as there were only two people working there. One other guy came in and ordered some food while I was there. One of the beef patties was burnt, but the rest were good. Nice and crispy crust with slightly beef on the inside. The fries were great, except I think they use Kraft singles as the cheese. The chicken and the jerk ranch was loaded with flavor, I would eat that by itself. The pineapples had great flavor as well. Tangy and sweet at the same time. All that food was just under $23! Would come back just for the plantains.

Listeeeeennnn, the way this food just hit the spot! We are just passing through for a cheer competition and saw the sign and said why not? We ordered the oxtail bowl, a side of Mac and cheese, a beef pattie and the curry chicken bowl. The platter was packed, the entire car smelled good because we left it in the car to finish running around. We ate the beef pattie im the car and it set the tone. Bayyyyyyby once I sat down to eat, sheesssssshhh nothing short of amazing! Flavorful and the employees were nice too! Would definitely recommend and go back when I'm in the area.

We've stopped here every year when in town. We thoroughly enjoy it. The food is excellent as is the service. Just nowhere to sit to eat, no matter ...

The place is under new ownership recently. We got to meet the owner, who is kind and passionate about the food and culture. The restaurant itself has a fun atmosphere with beautiful Jamaican decor and good vibes. The stuff is friendly and attentive. The food and juices are incredible! We tried the pineapple & ginger, sorrel, mango & pineapple, got jerk punch, Caribbean beets, and strawberry & basil lemonade and all of them were incredible! Each had a unique taste packed with flavor and incredibly fresh. While it was difficult to choose our favorites amongst the many we tried, I think I'd have to pick the strawberry & basil lemonade and the got jerk punch as the top two with the Caribbean beets as a close third. You really can't go wrong with any of them though. We also ate the oxtail and jerk chicken. Both were absolutely immaculate. Very authentic, packed with flavor, and the meats were both spectacularly tender, falling off the bone. We also tried the jerk marinade, the hot n tasty Caribbean BBQ, the pineapple calypso, and buffalo Soulja. Another tough choice to make because none of these disappointed in the slightest; each so delicious. We ended up taking home the jerk marinade and the hot n tasty Caribbean BBQ. I cannot recommend this place enough. You can taste the love and attention into every single thing they make and it truly is worth it to try.

Don't let the exterior fool you or the somewhat slow customer service and wait time. It was difficult to find the take out spot as it is located inside the Sunoco gas station. In fact I almost missed it altogether. Something told me that it was going to be good though. Babyyy...it was finger licking good My taste buds were dancing. The spice level is pretty hot. Not enough for me to act like a lady and take dainty bites, no ma'am . I sat in my car right there in the parking lot and woofed it down. In between bites, I paused just long enough to sip some water and wipe my runny nose. I had their jerk chicken bowl and a beef patty. Definitely a hidden gem on Union Deposit Rd. Will definitely be stopping by to sample the other items on the menu. Tip: if you don't like to wait, order ahead.

If you're looking for a freshly made sandwich on great bread with quality cold cuts, this is the place. If you're expecting a typical Subway-style franchise sandwich, keep driving. That was the best spot to get some food to recharge, so I decided to take a walk down memory lane and get an Italian sub when I got off of work. The staff was inviting, and the place still looked and smelled the same as it did when I was a kid. There was plenty of meat on the sub with all the fixings, and of course, I complemented it with plain Middleswarth chips. Being from Pennsylvania, you have to eat it with Middleswarth chips! My mouth was drooling looking at the sub, even though the roll itself felt very hard. With the first bite, I went right down memory lane, sitting in my grandfather's green Ford Ranger. I scarfed it down, but well... I was disappointed. The bread was so hard that it almost scratched the roof of my mouth. The cheese was just bland, not bursting with flavor, and the salami and pepperoni slices had no flavoring to them at all. I think the only thing that saved it was the hot peppers that I added. To make matters worse, I also noticed the bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good sign. I also felt very slow and sluggish afterward. I don't think food is supposed to do that; food is supposed to give you energy, not slow you down. I do not recommend this place for a sub at all. I'd rather get one from a pizza shop or even Sheetz--and I think all Sheetz food tastes like cardboard, but that's just me. I hope my review helps you decide where to get your sub next!

New me, new experience. like not a single cell from back then made the trip with me. We pull up, deal with Harrisburg parking (a whole separate scam I won't get into today), and walk into this little hole-in-the-wall lunch spot that closes at 2. That alone explains why it's been over a decade. But the second you step inside, it hits you this place has an aura. Straight New York-Philly energy. Metro signs everywhere, burger memorabilia, cheesesteak philosophy on the walls, Italian pride, city pride, just buku love, buku vibes. You order in a separate little room that feels like a classic bodega. Glass cooler with lunch meats, tiny soda setup, 50-cent refills, vanilla and cherry add-ons if you're feeling fancy. Cash only. No exceptions. We actually had to leave and hit an ATM because my roommate forgot. That's the kind of place this is. Feels like there's no internet in there. Like they might still be running a ham radio in the back. The guys working there? Straight 1970s New York swagger. You can tell this place has not changed since the day it opened, and that's exactly the point. And the wait, yeah, you're waiting. 20 minutes easy. But that's part of it. That's Staves of all the instant gratification and doom scrolling. It sets you back to a forgotten time. Then the burger comes out. This ain't no smash burger. This ain't no little quarter-pound situation. This is a big, meaty, juicy, chewy, greasy, gooey pound of flesh. And yeah, keep all of that. I'm staring at it for 30 seconds, salivating, practically full just looking at it. I finally put the bun on and go at it jerking my head around like a dog playing tug of war (making the most carnivorous, bestial sounds) I got the Jackson burger, lettuce, tomato, J-sauce. I need my J-sauce. And it hits and for a brief moment there is no worry in the world. This isn't a place you go every week unless you're trying to test your mortality. But when you go, you go all the way: 22-ounce Coca-Cola, burger, fries. No half measures. And the crowd? Office guys in suits on their lunch break. Capitol crowd. That's the vibe. I'm never in that world, so stepping into it felt like being dropped into a different city entirely--honestly felt like a Manhattan Lunch Break. The burger itself? Timeless. Not chasing trends, not trying to be Shake Shack, not Five Guys. This is some old-school, 1950s, Back to the Future-type energy. I half expected Marty McFly and Doc to walk in, get em one. Only surprise? No shakes. Feels like they should have shakes. They don't do fries with that shake. Now the one knock: the fries. Flavor? Perfection, hand cut boardwalk style fries. But I got a lot of little end pieces, now that's straight up disrespectful to me, how you gonna treat me like that?. I don't want to dig through little nubs to find actual fries. That's where I gotta be honest, dock a point. Overall though? Food: elite Experience: unmatched Vibe: 5/5 Conclusion - 4/5 (fix those bum-ass fries.)

Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. We will see you again as you are now on our once every 2 week visit list. For ever! Mr. & Mrs. Green

This is probably the reason most entertainers and people of fame who come from Harrisburg move away and don't say they are from there But anyway... Me, having Philly family and being a Philly fan of everything, especially those Eagles (don't stop reading because of that!), I had a chance to get a cheesesteak from South Philly Hoagie, and let me tell you, I was impressed. The bread makes everything, and then of course the meat. I ordered mine with mayonnaise, cheese whiz, and of course, mushrooms. Now, I did order it through the Uber Eats app, and I wish I could've added provolone, but I never had to add pizza sauce to my cheesesteak until today. I'm glad I did! It made it pop, even though it was missing that provolone. One thing I do wish is that they would actually take the bread and get some of that steak juice right on the bun. Other than that, I'm not mad at it. Of course, it's not Philly. It didn't bounce me right back to the hometown of Will Smith, and it didn't have me saying "I'M A WORK OF ART." However, I was pleased and satisfied. Maybe the flavoring can hold me over until my next pay next week so I can take a train down to Philly. The French fries were amazing, if I must say. The sub was plenty full and had plenty of meat on it. If you asked me, "Would I buy this again?" Yes, I definitely would! And I would do it over-the-counter so I can have it my way, like Burger King!
