I found this colorful Mexican Food truck on S 1st St and W Layton Ave over the weekend so I had to…read morestop and check them out. Can't find anything on Yelp but I did find their Facebook page so I am adding them to Yelp so you all can see what they offer. The guy in the truck says that this is the permanent spot and I can find him there next time I come back. The menu has all the usual Mexican dinners/foods/meat choices, see the menu pictures. What would be my first sampling, the steak burrito is usually what I get but I got the Carne Asada Quesadilla. The Carne Asada Quesadilla smelled wonderful and it was just big enough because I was not burrito size hungry. It had a nice golden slight crisp on the tortilla with perfect stringy melted cheese holding all the steak in. The Quesadilla was tasty with flavorful steak, all trimmed well with no fat or gristle and not cooked to dry, thank you. Dam now I wish I would have got a fulley dressed steak burrito. The brownish sauce that came with it had some nice heat and complements the Quesadilla well. I would definitely stop back and try other items from this truck, I stopped to watch it from across the street for five minutes before I went over and it had a steady stream of people stopping by.

I decided to order something that I usually never order, the tostada along with one taco. The steak taco was two corn tortillas, steak, onions and cilantro. Steak was plentiful and falling out ok, nothing super special. A taco for me is four bites and three of the four bites had chewy gristle in them which is disappointing and a turn off for me. My tostada was Al Pastor and piled high with pork, beans, lettuce, tomato and a pile of cheese. The shells were super crunchy from the fryer and two to hold up to hefty tostada. The tostada was tasty with all the crunchy and soft textures, clearly the winner over the steak taco. I have been to the restaurant and the West Allis truck, the truck about 15 times and I have never had any gristle in my food. The two trucks have different menus and I think the West Allis truck is better.

Also it doesn't open until 3pm which is past lunch for me but I found it there at 2pm and open. I couldn't find it on Yelp and a google search yielded a Facebook page and it looked pretty good with an al pastor pork rotary spit masterpiece looking hunk of goodness so im down. I guess I'm going to have to do my Yelp duty and add them to yelp, Yelp is all I use so it's frustrating to find a business that's been there for a year and no one added them so I never had any idea that they were there. The truck smelled amazing walking up to it, no they don't all have that same first impression so it's worth mentioning. I will post a menu but I'm having the Alambre which I have only had once before and it rocked. You get your choice of meat but I having that al pastor creation, it's the logo on the truck so how could you not. It's pretty expensive for a Mexican food truck at $10 but very reasonable for lunch, my sit down choice was closed today so considering my meal, drink and a tip that I was going to shell out for I got off easy. The Alambre is a big meal for that $10 that comes with a whole lime wedged, the Alambre, baked potato, pile of corn tortillas and 4 tubs of hot sauce. The Alambre is a tasty marinated pork and bacon tasting dish with pineapple, onion, green pepper and melted cheese and when you put that all together and slap it in the warm corn tortillas it's pretty tasty. I didn't know what to do with the baked potato and the hot sauce was not hot and the flavor I didn't like because it clashed with the good flavor of the Alambre so I tossed it after one taco, sometimes simple is better. This truck was a nice find and liked it very much with that al pastor creation, I want that in a full dressed burrito with cilantro and raw onion which would be awesome. I'm not sure what's it called but it's a mixture of onions habanero peppers and cucumbers. Definitely adds an extra kick to your taco but trust the tacos don't need it. All of them were juicy and tender. The pineapple on the Al pastor was the best. That has to be my top fave of all three tacos. I highly recommend anyone to stop by this gem and try it.

I tasted the steak and Al pastor by them self to taste the meat before I put hot sauce on the tacos so I could see which one was better because one always is but not this time because they were both good. The steak taco with cilantro and onions was very good with seasoned steak and the corn tortillas stood out because they had a good corn flavor. The Al pastor was the same but with tasty pork.
