It's not everyday I order chips and guacamole, but I can tell a produce sticker when I see it. Luckily, i caught it before my next scoop. I guess, on the positive side, maybe this is a sign the avocados are actually fresh. I get it. It's a fast food restaurant and things get missed, but if I don't say something who's gonna fix it? Food was good and killed the hunger fix we needed. Our order taker, Valerie was sweet, friendly, and read back our order to ensure she had it correct. She rang a bell as a way of letting everyone know that she got us to order a larger bag of chips and all she got was crickets from her co-workers. Where's the love? Where's the kudos? Ah, fast food - it's like playing culinary Russian roulette: sometimes you hit the jackpot, other times your left with a sad, soggy disappointment. This time around El Pollo loco did good! I decided to venture into uncharted territory and try the chicken tortilla soup. It wasn't bad -- I'd give it a solid 7/10. The issue? It was more of a vegetable soup with a few token chucks of chicken floating around in it. Chicken was trying to be incognito I guess lol. It could've used more chicken! And also a little rice to thicken it up some and make it more of a meal and less of a vegetable festival. I also had to add some salt to it to bring out the flavors, but after a little seasoning love, the flavors popped out and it was good. I also got some of the chicken avocado tacos. A crunchy chicken taco. And a 3 piece meal. (Breast and wing) Everything else was pretty much perfection. We ordered online for pickup and everything went off without a hitch. Delicious, fresh, fire grilled chicken that goes well with any of their salads. My favorite double chicken tostada salad is unbeatable in town! Always delicious, on fresh shell, and prepared with fresh ingredients. I feel the crisp of the lettuce with every bite. The avocado dressing is amazing! Must get extra dressing! I got the Mexican Cobb Fresca salad and it was disappointing for a $14 salad. They put the tiniest sprinkle of cheese (see photo) but in the picture it has a big pile of cheese! False advertising. Thought some shrimp tacos sounded good and was nearby so I drove through. Shrimp tacos ended up being a cold, soggy, mess thrown into foil. Foil must have been to hold the lump of it all together, because it sure as heck didn't preserve any heat. They made me sick. I threw the rest away. Since this is a few minutes from where I work, it is one of the lunch places that I go to. One more thing that I love here is their low calorie meal options. The calories are actually written in their menu so you are aware of what you are ordering. Lastly, the price for their meals is very affordable. If you are planning to visit this place, it is in the East side of town and is located on Mt. Vernon in the same shopping center as Panda Express. This particular El Pollo Loco location also sells Foster Freeze products, so you can get soft serve ice cream, with or without a chocolate dipped shell, and sundaes. They have a self serve salsa bar with four different salsas, jalapenos, diced onions, cilantro, and lemon wedges. On this visit, I decided to try one of their new tostada salads - the avocado bacon flavor. There were several slices of fresh avocado on top and plenty of crispy crunchy bacon as well as fame grilled chicken, crisp lettuce, and beans. I ditched the deep fried flour tortilla shell (I have better places to use those calories - like dessert) and covered it liberally with the pico de gallo and avocado salsa. I didn't use the creamy cilantro salad dressing that came with it; I didn't feel like it needed anything else. I really liked it. My mom ordered her favorite, the pollo bowl with extra rice instead of the beans. One thing that I've always wondered: they carry both Minute Maid lemonade and Minute Made light lemonade. Have you ever read the information on the soda fountain? The regular lemonade contains 0% juice, yet the light lemonade contains 3% juice. WTH? My advice? Get the light lemonade and squeeze lemon wedges from the salsa bar into it. Mmmmm... and you can refill your drink as many times as you like! I ordered a vanilla soft serve cone dipped in chocolate for dessert. In the picture on the menu is looks like the chocolate dip is pretty thick. In reality, though, the dip was very thin, almost transparent and there were little holes in the coating that the ice cream kept melting through. Don't be so stingy with the chocolate coating, people! I'm still a fan, though. Worst customer service. I always go to this location hoping to get better customer service. I went by this weekend to the el pollo loco on mtvernon and I had the worst interaction with an employee she was rude and disrespectful. And her hair was lose and not put up correctly when I asked the young lady if she may put up her hair she ignored me and walked away. She had Blonde hair with a clipped in her hair and a nose piercing i didn't quite catch her name but this isn't the first time this happened. read more

My daughter and I came to get a meal and when we got the macaroni and cheese it was really greasy so my daughter asked, "If they can change it?" The lady handling the food laughed at my daughter and didn't do anything. My daughter told me so I took her plate. Normally the macaroni is not as greasy. I asked if they could change it because the macaroni doesn't look good. She asked what I wanted to change it too. The older lady handling the plates of food was not only rude to me, but to my daughter. It took someone else coming up and switching the item. That is horrible! People like that should not be working in customer service and treat any customer that way no matter what age they are. The food is the same as ever other location , which I love and it's a healthier option than going to a burger place or to KFC when you're out and about and don't have time to cook. the service here is usually good. sometimes in drive through we get a kid that messes up our order or neglects to give us salsa....but everyone else is on point. What makes this location different from the other branches in Bakersfield? There is also a Fosters Freeze here. I have never ordered any thing from the Fosters Freeze menu though. El Pollo Loco can usually be counted on to provide a good meal. Lately though, their chicken has not tasted as good. I've noticed that in this location and the branches on Coffee Rd. and Stockdale Hwy respectively. Still, for the price....the food is still okay. If you use one of their coupons which can be found in the mail, then there is more money to be saved. I'll continue to frequent this branch from time to time, but I would not go out of my way to find it. read more

Let me start off by saying this was my very first visit to a El Pollo Loco and more than likely my last. First: I ordered my food on the mobile app because of the promotion advertised "make your first purchase with the mobile app and receive free bowl on next visit." There is supposed to be a bar code on the receipt you can scan to earn your rewards and points. My receipt did not have this so I didn't receive my "free bowl" reward nor was I able to take the survey online for the $1 off next $5 purchase. Second: When I ordered my meal on the app, I added 4 sides of salsa. The woman who handed me my food said oh we didn't put the salsa in there and instructed me that I could do that on my own at the salsa bar. It was not busy at all in the store and I ordered in on the app because of the convenience, considering I only have a 30 minute lunch! Third: My avocado still had the peel on it. I know mistakes happen but it was on the top and very obvious! I hate to leave sour reviews but this store deserves it!
