Never before have we had such LARGE pieces of perfectly cooked and juicy chicken in the decades of dining at different El Pollo Loco's!! The employees were friendly and helpful! It was ALMOST a five-star review!! The problem is that HALF of the chicken pieces (we ordered two full chickens so we would have leftovers too as it was a much better deal) were dry and very small!!! Ughhhh. I was so excited when I saw the TOP pieces that were large, fresh and very juicy, only to discover the little dry pieces that should have been thrown away buried under the fresh and juicy pieces!!! I mean, seriously, when a chicken LEG is the size of a chicken WING, that is highly unacceptable. We very much enjoyed half of the chicken!! I will pull meat from the little dry pieces and use them on a salad. We will toss lots of extra dressing on them to cover for the dryness!! It was too late to call or go back since they closed so the next morning (Sunday) we called and the lady took our name and said we can get it replaced. Now today (Thursday) we called to make sure they still had our name down, the guy "Jorge" (IF that's even his name) made a big deal about it and was extremely rude like it was coming out of his pay check lmao and said we never went that day and no one took our name down because it didn't happen. Jorge was amazing! I ordered my families food thru the mobile app and my daughter was handed the incorrect order even after repeating the name of the order several times to the cashier. She arrived home with the food (I wasn't with her) and noticed I noticed they gave her the incorrect order. Promised time for food to be ready was 7:30 pm and they handed the food over at 7:55pm. Spoke to Jorge over the phone and he apologized and stated he would remake our order at arrival. When I arrived to the location he remade our order and once again apologized for the inconvenience. I love El Pollo Loco as a quick, healthy option. This location is hit or miss unfortunately. Today I ordered 1 chicken breast - $4.99 - and received the smallest piece of chicken. If I had a family meal I would overlook it but this and the small chicken with no salsas (when I asked multiple times) was a bummer. The chicken once removed from the bone was just over 2 oz. It was also super dry, and overcooked probably due to size and time on grill. El Pollo Loco is a mighty fine place to get a fast food meal, that is pretty healthy, and decently priced. I drove down here for lunch the other day to get a couple of chicken breasts. I ordered 2 chicken breasts and my total was around $6.00. Not bad for some delicious chicken that has no carbs! El Pollo Loco's chicken is fantastic! The breasts were a decent size, crispy skin, moist and flavorful in the middle. Their signature marinade is delicious! I have to figure out how to make this stuff on my grill at home! There is only ever one person running the register and they seem incapable of multitasking. Oftentimes you are left there waiting while they help someone asking for more sauce. Someone on the line could easily jump off real quick to do that while you take someone's order. Unless they get more help, or start moving faster, I can't recommend this location at all. I really didn't want to leave one star but this has been going on for so long, its driving me nuts! What is it with these folks that they REFUSE to fill the tiny salsa containers they use when you ask for salsa?! I'm not talking only half way, I'm talking 1/4 - 1/3 of the way! I've emailed corporate twice about it and here it is many months later and they still keep doing it. Not all the time, but I would say at least half the times they do not fill the containers or even close. Also, they too often get the amount of containers you ask for wrong. The last two times I went, I asked for 4 red and 4 green salsas and go 3 of each and 4 out of the 8 had almost nothing in them. Sheesh.... I will say that these people are SUPER fast at getting the orders out but that may be the problem. I don't mind waiting an extra 15 seconds so they can get my order correct. Worst pollo loco experience in 10 years at this location. Food came out fast but the meat was not a double portion like I paid for. Decided not to complain. Asked for a cilantro dressing and had to get back in line to pay 44 cents for the dressing. Took a customer before me. I sit back down and the avacado is missing. I went back up and had to wait. Food is always really good. Fresh, prepared well, flavorful. But the service is always wonky....every visit. The struggle with the digital coupons and loyalty reward offers. To go orders are either missing napkins, or have the wrong things with them (example, 3 salads will come with 4 dressings and 1 fork. That sort of thing). Anything not a one item no coupon nothing special order seems to be difficult. So, go expecting really good food, but be extra patient with the crew. read more
