Pollo Loco is a great fast food option! Why doesn't someone open up one on the Peninsula!?

Well... 3 and a half stars really. They got some of the best grilled chicken here, and their avacado salsa is outta this world! I love their churros as well. I've never had stale churros here - these things are dangerous! I'm not really feeling their side dishes, so I usually just stick to the chicken and chips n' salsa. Okay... maybe a churro as well! If you haven't tried El Pollo Loco, you gotta get there soon. read more

The food was a little overpriced for what you got, and what you got was chicken that was like over dried. I could get better food for the same price, but it's kind of like a namebrand food type of thing. Ordered the family meal deal which consist of 12 pieces of chicken with two large sides. I thought the food was okay, nothing to rave about. Chicken was grilled and very moist but there wasn't much flavor. The two sides I ordered were macroni and cheese and mash potatoes which were okay I guess. Service is very quick if you go thru the drive thru. Total time to order was less than 5 minutes. Recommend you go to this place if you want some soul food. read more

The Chicken is pretty good. The meat just falls off the bone. I had the 3 piece combo with the mashed potatoes/gravy and mac/cheese. The total was 8 dollar for a moderate amount of food. Compare to KFC, there was a staff in the back grilling the chicken on an open grill. It doesn't look like premade chicken sitting to dry. If you prefer grilled chicken over fried, I would come try this place. I never actually had KFC grilled but El Pollo Loco was great overall. read more

this review is for El Pollo Loco in Hayward, on Mission near Jackson. They have a soup & salad combo on their menu that is fantastic. I don't know of any other 'fast-food' restaurant that comes close to flavor and quality of this combo. This is the Avocado Salad with cilantro dressing paired with the Chicken Tortilla soup. For this option alone, they have now become my favorite fast-food eatery. WELL DONE El Pollo Loco! read more

It seems like whenever I come to this location they are out of something. And that isn't a big deal to me, however the issue I find is the communication about not having certain items. If you don't have it or any other item i.e. Sides, cilantro dressing etc please disclose that to the customer so I don't order that specific meal. Don't just hand me the bag hoping I don't realize it until I get home! It's just very deceptive to me. Other than this issue, I do enjoy coming to this location. read more

I have always been a loyal customer to El Pollo Loco regardless of how bad the employees act. Honestly the reason for my three stars is for everyone actually cooking the food. You guys or gals are amazing keep doing such a great job. But their dam cashiers in drive thru are by far some of the worst employees I have seen. I stop by often, some times even twice a week so I am familiar with some of the cashiers that either just hate their jobs or just need better training. It sucks to get to work and finally get to eat your lunch when you realize they didn't give you the dam salsa you requested. Yes I am a sucker for the spicy avocado salsa! I can put this on anything from the menu. So, I hate not getting it when that's all I ask for. I have as well been treated poorly by the drive thru cashiers. I swear there has been many times where I say I won't put up with it no more and yet I go back. All I'm saying is for those three girls who handle drive thru, dam if you hate your job so much why in the world are you there! These girls act like the dam salsa is coming out of their paychecks. So for anyone planning on visiting our closest El Pollo Loco make sure to get off and order if that's possible on your time. The food is amazing and so worth it. read more

We stop by anytime we are even close to the area of Loco! Why are there not many of these in Northern California?!! Awesome fresh salsa bar, freshly grilled chicken, and awesome deals... $1.09 for a big beans rice and cheese burrito! Can get out of there full for $2 if you're on a tight budget... My favorite meal when I lived in Mexico was mexican style rotisserie chicken with a cheese quesadilla and gaucamole. They way the flavors go together is just incredible. And while there is no pollo feliz in the Bay Area, Pollo loco, while not rotisserie, while statisfy the craving for that meal. It's a simple marinade with some garlic, salt and citrus and then the chicken is grilled over medium heat so the fat slowly melts underneath the skin and the result is super tender and flavorful chicken. I wouldn't call it healthy, but it is wholesome and certainly healthier than KFC. read more

This is the first time I have EVER been so disappointed with a place that I not only felt the urge to write a negative review, but follow through and actually take the time to write one. I ordered 2 spicy chipotle burritos (one meal with a coke & the other one the burrito only), 1 large tortilla soup and an avocado salad. First off, the woman who took my CC at the window was having such an engaging phone conversation that she had to stop halfway through my transaction because that phone call was much more important than giving me a good service. The girl who took over paid much closer attention to me but obviously not enough to give me what I paid for. When I was given my food I counted 2 burritos, one salad container and a large container of soup so I didn't look any more closely than that. I wasn't given the soda for the meal but I remembered to ask for it (yay me)! When I got home I found 2 chipotle burritos (yay!), 2 small containers of soup WITHOUT cheese or cilantro (every other time I've ordered this soup its come with cheese, cilantro and tortilla chips). NO avocado salad, the one in front of me had bacon, chicken, rice and beans inside a big taco shell. This is NOT the avocado salad I ordered, which would have been fine except there was NO salad dressing! Strangely enough there was a big container of mac & cheese, I don't know why? It's not like someone asked me what kind of side I wanted...There were no napkins or utensils ether, other times I've ordered the same things I get napkins & utensils. On top of all that, everything was shoved into a single bag! Because of this the bag almost broke getting it into my house and the soup had spilled all over the inside of the bag. I have to say that I'm incredibly disappointed in the Hayward El Pollo Loco location! To be fair, I think the girl who took my order initially wasn't paying attention because she was on the phone and the 2nd girl didn't think to check the order. I'm assuming the 1st girl was the 2nd ones supervisor, which explains the blind faith! If management wants to know, the receipt says "53 Yesenia" then "Chk 1352" The store number 3514. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of the 2nd girl who helped me. I will be calling the complaint number at the bottom of the receipt in the morning. I would just like to add that I expect this level of service at Taco Bell, it's kind of sad that now I expect it from Hayward El Pollo Loco! read more

Not a fan of this place. I called ahead to pick up an order on a Wednesday night and the place was crazy. Way too many people waiting for food and it did not look like the people behind the counter had a clue. Figuring out where the end of the line was to pay was confusing. My order was not ready and I had to wait about 10 minutes to pick it up, after they told me it was ready. I was very disappointed with the service. Do not go here if you are in a hurry during typical meal time in the evening. You will be disappointed. As far as food quality goes, the sides were good. I had the mixed vegetables and the bbq black beans. Even though the chicken was seasoned well, I thought it was too greasy for my taste. I struggled with some heartburn and a small stomachache that night. I will pass next time. read more

We ordered the mixed 8 piece family meal for the 3 of us shortly before noon on Sunday. No line in front of us. Absolutely delicious chicken plus the mashed potato & gravy were served very hot and quickly. Side salad was ok but they forgot to heat the cheese & tortilla rolls. No matter, we took them home and ate them later. One nice touch that I haven't seen elsewhere is that a table had a wheelchair logo sticker to designate it for handicapped customers. Since I have a disability I appreciate the thoughtfulness. I wish there were an El Pollo Loco restaurant in San Leandro so I wouldn't have to drive 12 miles to eat my favorite chicken. The food here is incredible!! There is ample parking and the service is good. There was a line when I got there (4 people deep) but it just kept moving. Stay away from the fries though! They take too long to prepare and don't taste that good. I can appreciate what they were trying to do by expanding their menu, but it doesn't work as well as the Mexican food they have to serve. read more

We hosted about 50 people last weekend and had El Pollo Loco cater the food. We were so pleased with the results! You can say that anyone can make rice and beans. I'll give you that. However, the chicken was excellent--tasty and moist. The taquitos so good they disappeared. They provide everything! Utensils to serve and eat, plates, sauces, chips, tortillas. Everything was ready on time. The hot things hot and the cold things cold. The packaging exceptional, down to individual servings of tortillas. All the containers were microwaveable and recycleable, Everything placed in big cardboard boxes that we could carry. Here's the kicker: We had warming trays, the ones with the Sterno underneath. The food containers fit exactly in the trays. Who things of that? Thank you to the management and workers at this Hayward location. We will use them again. read more

I came to this spot because I was told the burritos were pretty good so I thought my burrito was going to be made the way I ordered it. Both the burritos we ordered were not made the way we asked! I asked for no beans and one without sour cream and we received a burrito without beans and sour cream and the other with sour cream :\ we had already waited outside in the parking lot for over 20 minutes so we ate them anyways, sadly. I actually had to go inside and ask about them since I was tired of waiting. All they told me was that they were looking for us but my friends head was sticking out the window the whole time since he was hangry already. Don't try to go through the drive-thru 6 minutes before closing. They will have you waiting without saying anything on the intercom until 11:00 so they don't have to serve you. Very poor customer service, management should be reprimanded for poorly training their employees. Customers are more willing to understand the circumstance if you communicate to them. They left people waiting in embarrassment and pissed. read more
