Excellent chicken burger - big, juicy, tender. Customer service was great given the line and popularity of the place. Food truck lacks ambiance of Oakland restaurant. A graffiti covered food truck and covered tables and benches with mood lights around the perimeter. Lots of effort was put toward the environment but it still isn't what Oakland location is. Shared parking lot with liquor store can be convenient -- maybe people deep in car culture would especially like this - you can eat with your car within view. Fries were abundant - probably too many. Burger was large enough I didnt need them at all. I think for me that is the whole problem with this place - its all too much. Its like why I don't like Black Bear diner. Too much food - and too heavy. This is very tender chicken but at the same time heavy enough you couldn't eat something like this every day. Small cute street cat came around for some leftovers. Finally got around to trying Hotboys and came away impressed. We ordered the sando and the loaded fries, and the chicken was exactly what you'd want from a hot chicken spot: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well balanced by the slaw and sauce. As someone who's had a lot of hot chicken, I'd say it's definitely comparable to Howlin' Ray's, though Howlin' Ray's still holds the top spot for me. The loaded fries were a solid choice too and made for a satisfying side. My only disappointment? I didn't actually see any hot boys on the menu. Been to the Walnut Creek location and fell in love so my expectations were high for this spot! Cool looking truck in a parking lot with plenty of parking next to a convenience store. I ordered a spicy chicken sando with Mac and Cheese and the side and the sando was EXCELLENT. Chicken Sando 10/10: Bread was soft and sweet, chicken was cooked perfectly all throughout which made it super soft and easy to eat. Wasn't messy at all. Definitely would order again Mac & Cheese 2/10: The seasoning on the Mac wasn't really good or there, it tasted almost watered down if I could put it into words? but the noodles were pretty good nevertheless. Ordered online and the order was ready for pick up within 20-25 minutes (which is a lot faster than I thought - because the Oakland location can take a while for lunch). When we got there, we saw our ToGo bag order, but no one was in the truck to give us the food, so we had to go into the store nearby and that cashier came out, went into the world Famous Hotboys truck and gave us the food. I ordered the Sando Meal (medium) and it comes with fries. It was spicy but not spicy enough for me haha - my spice tolerance is pretty high. Maybe next time I'll try the higher level. Finally got to try WFH and it did not disappoint! I ordered the sando mild since I'm a wimp lol. Mild was still flavorful and nice subtle kick. The slaw pairs really good in the sandwich. This location is food truck style so it's all outdoors - they have a table out front and a couple of shaded ones around the back. The tables had napkins and hand sanitizer. It's next to a convenience store where they seem to share a small parking lot, but there is additional street parking too. My team at work likes to order here and then send a runner to pick it up. I decided to pick some up for my ohana without realizing they use peanut oil. Sheesh, scary stuff and that was it for da ohana. My work team, on the other hand, still likes to go. Love the fries, that spice they use is kickin' and the sando is mouth watering. My big complaint is consistency. Order the medium every time and getting the right heat experience is almost like going fishing. Sometimes it's mild and chill, other times it's a scorcher, and once in a while, you smile and feel they got it right. For me that is key, I need to know what I am getting and they get it right maybe 30 percent of the time. For baseball, that is a decent ERA, but for food, nah that's not right. And then, every now and then, someone else gets there first and picks up our order. Not real big on the apologies or making sure peeps picking up the right bags. I ordered it medium plus. When I opened the box, to my surprise, the chicken was not red at all! It was more like a mild plus. After taking a bite, it appears they only seasoned one side with spice. The sandwich was still good but it wasn't as spicy as it remember it from the Oakland location. The meal took about 10 min to come out.
