I live down the street from this place and if it wasn't the only place that had fair priced burritos I'd never come. I ordered delivery. The food was actually well prepared. I ordered 3 customized Al Carbon tacos (no cilantro, added Jack cheese, added avocado slices) all prepared just as I ordered. The sides of beans and mac & cheese were all good. The problem seems to be no one is checking the order for accuracy before it's handed to the delivery people. The 3 condiments I ordered were no where to be found. Since it's the 3rd time I've not received all that I ordered, I guess I'm the dummy to expect something might change. I recently moved to the area from Orange County, and I'm not sure if I'm having a stint of bad luck or if I need to adjust my expectations of food in the area, but this was just not good. I'd expect fast food joints to be pretty uniform across the board, but this was a disappointing experience. I ordered a chicken burrito combo; they forgot my salsa so it was fairly bland, the burrito was significantly smaller than normal (compared to this item every time I have ordered this item from other locations, but perhaps this location does smaller portions?), the tortilla was weirdly gummy, and my side of chips consisted of a shopping (almost comical) 7 chips. Not worth the money and I won't hurry to return. Next time I might try the other location on San Jacinto or perhaps save my visits to El Pollo for when I'm back in Orange County and know I'll get a product that meets my expectations. read more

We've been to a few El Pollo Loco restaurants and we enjoy them. This is the first time, however, we went to this specific location. And it will probably be the last. While the food was good, service was incredibly slow. When we arrived there were some folks ordering, we ordered after them and then proceeded to wait about 25 minutes for our food. And the restaurant wasn't even half full so it wasn't busy by any means. The service was just very slow. On top of that, I found that, if you knew the staff, you got quicker service. After we ordered, two other groups placed their orders. Then a couple walked in. They were calling the staff by name, chitchatting about this and that and placed their order for two of the chicken salads they have on the menu. The next order that came up went to a couple that had been waiting for their order when we arrived. The one after that? This couple that had just walked in less than 5 minutes ago. They managed to skip four places in line (the people who were ordering as we walked in, us and the two who ordered after us). I guess it is who you know. So, like I said, we won't be going back to this location any time soon. Poor service is a deal breaker in itself. Allowing friends to skip the line? That's even worse. read more

I live in Hemet and from this day forward I will drive to San Jacinto, Temecula or Beaumont for my food. I don't ever recall going to an El Pollo Loco. In fact, for whatever reason, I often have the tendency to give El Pollo Loco the side eye. It just never looked exciting enough to make me want to dine there. I was craving a moderately healthy burrito, and saw that they had a Chicken Fajita burrito. Inside the burrito is rice, black beans, shredded chicken, and green bell peppers. I went through the drive-thru, so I cannot speak for what the restaurant looks like on the inside. The two employees I encountered at the window were friendly. My order was done in a fair amount of time and my Chicken Fajita burrito was delicious. I wasn't expecting it to be that delicious. So I'm torn between a 3- and 4-star review on this one. Ultimately, I chose the 3-star because of two factors: price, and customer service. This place is a general "run-of-the-mill" El Pollo Loco. The food quality is what you'd expect from EPL, and it's the typical options that you'd be offered at other locations. That being said, the prices seemed a bit high. I feel like our order was about $2 more expensive than it'd be at other EPL locations. Don't know why that is, but it just is. Customer service is another area in which this location could improve. They just seem disinterested in helping you. Not particularly rude, but just disinterested. An example was one of the changes my wife requested on her order. She's able to make the change at other EPL locations, but at this one, they wouldn't do it. It wasn't anything big, but it makes a big difference in taste (Sorry, don't remember what it was, because it's nothing that I order regularly). I get great service by ordering ahead as the food is ready when I arrive. The food is outstanding and the employees are courteous and friendly. As a senior I'm able to get 10% off and by spending 3 mins on the phone answering an automatter experience I get another 10% off so I make sure I take advantage of that.
