My favorite El Pollo Loco location in San Diego! This is one of the newer locations. The interior is always squeaky clean and the workers are very friendly. My go to order is the 8 piece family chicken meal ($28.99). I like to grab this with a buddy after hitting the gym at LA fitness next door. I often get a coupon in the mail that brings the cost down to $21.99 which is a steal for this much food. For sides I like to get the rice and the mac and cheese. After we crushed the meal the worker came over and mentioned he had never seen two dudes down an entire 8 piece chicken meal like that before. Lunch and a sense of humor! Make sure to get lots of the green sauce and mild pico de gallo. You can also ask for chopped onions and cilantro. Most recently I ordered 3 street corn chicken pollo bowls with guacamole on the side ($7.18) and a chipotle guacamole chicken burrito ($9.99). I ordered on the app and was pleasantly surprised to get a $10 off $30 coupon so my meal came out to only $23.20 after tax! I enjoyed dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day. I was really impressed by this el pollo loco. I hadn't gone to one in at least five years but we were close by and my friend suggested it... and I'm so glad she did!! First of all, the service here was amazing. The guy at the front (I wish I would've gotten his name but I think it was the manager) was really friendly and made an effort to go above and beyond. He walked around the restaurant checking on everyone's meals and when I went to ask for a to-go box he proactively asked if I wanted a bag too.. it's the little things in life :) The food itself tasted super fresh and I didn't leave feeling like I had just eaten fast food. We've been fans of El Pollo Loco for over three decades now, and I'm happy to see this new one open near 4S Commons. It's the closest one now to home and very convenient just north of Camino del Norte. We tried it for the first time on a Sunday night for take-out. Our order was ready quickly, and the young woman behind the counter could not have been nicer. Overall, this El Pollo Loco has a contempoary feel to it that i like. The restaurant looked clean and modern. - reasonable prices for the quality of food: I've been here several times and the food has been fresh, hot, and correct. The chicken has been moist and tender. - plenty of parking in the lot - nice, healthy options from burritos to bowls to family meals I wish the sides were slightly larger though. I don't have an El Pollo Loco in my area, but I enjoy it from time to time when I'm looking for healthy-ish food and one happens to be nearby. This location is clean, has pleasant, customer-service oriented staff, and the food is good by EPL standards/expectations. The hubby had a 2 piece thigh/leg meal, daughter a queso blanco burrito and myself a tortilla soup. We all enjoyed our food (although hubby mentioned he would likely get a burrito next time). I loved how my soup was piping hot, so hot I had to blow on it and wait to eat it. To me that is a plus... I'd rather allow it a little time to cool down than be served luke warm soup. It was very hearty and flavorful. I also enjoyed a few of my daughter's side of chips. They have a crunch and nice taste to them (I dipped in their green salsa). We'll be in the area in about a month for another volleyball tournament and would consider returning to this location. read more

This new location in the 4S Ranch area is near our home in San Diego, and tried their food today. Parking is excellent, has a new store environment and good service. I ordered the Keto burrito and the Bean and rice burrito. Both were dry and tasteless. Even their hot sauce didn't make it better. My wife had a shredded chicken bowl with cheese and rice. Food here was good but customer service is lacking. O I ordered a 3 piece meal with the Loco salad as one of the sides. When I discovered there was less than half of teaspoon of dressing on the salad I asked for some additional dressing and was told that there would be a 50 cent charge for the extra dressing. I then told him you don't understand, there was virtually no dressing on my salad. His response was with the small salad they don't give much dressing. I told him I order this all the time and am familiar with the salad. He wound up giving me the dressing but not without saying that he did it this time for me, but next time, he would charge me. The reason for my review is to let everyone know of how great the customer service is here. I live to one closer to my house but decided to give them some support as it is a new store. We decided chicken for dinner would work so we stopped by. Greeted by a genuine smiley face And very welcoming. This young lady needs a shout out for being so great. I know going into a fast food place that I shouldn't expect too much but when an employee goes out of her way to make sure that everything was accounted for and making sure we had enough plates and utensils for everyone in our party. Staff is now 20 bucks an hour, and they STILL can't get an order right. Got home, so many missing items and no sides that were ordered.

Good service good energy in the restaurant. I just really wish Pollo Loco would stick to just chicken it wasn't bad but it definitely needs some work. Also I paid $12 and some change for this meal. I think it's kind of decent for the price I just wish they give you bigger portions. read more

I ordered a chicken avocado bowl combo. The bowl itself was great and prepared with no beans just as I requested in the app. I am giving 3 stars because there was no cabbage in the bowl and they also forgot to include my chips. I asked for chips instead of tortillas and I was given neither. They included all of the salsas and dressings that I asked for, so that was good. Their mango passionfruit iced tea is good... not sweet at all, which I like. I don't really get why my order was inaccurate since they definitely didn't look busy. read more

In our to-go order, I ordered 2 piece chicken breast meal with sides of pinto beans and Cole slaw. The one star positive was for the actual chicken breast meat which was tender and ok. The negative - the wing piece had nothing on it but skin. In the pinto bean TINY little cup, there were 5 actual beans, the rest was pure liquid. Instead of coleslaw, they gave me a wilted salad with some kind of white stuff on it that had no flavor - I have no idea what it was. And since I didn't order a SALAD, I certainly didn't get to choose a dressing. I will never go here again, and I don't recommend it. read more
