We (5 of us) went to El Potrero on Mother's day this year for a quick meal around 2pm. We waited in the lobby area for a bit while the hostess seated two other families. No big deal but I do like to be acknowledged when I enter any business. She then told us it would be a 15 minute wait. Cool! We waited and were seated about 10 - 15 minutes later. We sat there long enough before a waitress came over that we had time to figure out what we wanted to eat. So when she finally came, chips and salsa in hand, we each ordered what we wanted to eat and everyone asked for water to drink. The easiest way to get a good tip from me is to keep my water from going dry. Not necessarily full all the time, but present. I started to wonder if I was ever going to see a water to begin with. We are well into our chips and salsa by now and thirsty. more than 15 minutes later - water. Thank goodness! By now the chips are gone and the waitress asks if we would like more. Of course! When she leaves we realize we don't have straws so make a mental note of it to ask in a few minutes when she brings us chips. At least another 15 minutes passes before she comes back. No chips. My water is completely gone. I ask for straws, we receive... then she says "Oh, would you guys like some more chips?"....... Another 10 minutes before we got our food. Meanwhile, two different tables that came after us have received their food and their water is plentiful. It was not particularly busy when we were there from what I could see. I am aware that some mistakes happen and sometimes one may forget something small.. but too many mistakes that night overall and I just needed water. When our food arrived it was good. Not the best, not the worst. My only complaint with the food was that my chicken was definitely not seasoned enough (if at all). I was hungry for Mexican and chose this via other Yelp reviews. For a Monday they were busy and the service showed it. But I am patient and saw the bartender working her but off. Salsa was great and so was my main dish. Different from my own local Mexican favorite. Great food and the service wasn't horrible just slower. Definitely worth visiting! read more

I went for lunch with a friend just as a spur of the moment kind of thing and it turned out to be one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Specials were fantastic from drink selection to lunch portions. We got drinks, appetizers, two full meals and a to-go, it was so good and spent under $40. Absolutely the worst service and food ever! We waited for 15 minutes before our server came to our table. If it wasn't for the chips and salsa we would have left. Waited another 30 minutes for food to arrive. Meat was oily and cold, beans were crusty from sitting under the heat lamp, kids cheese quesadilla straight out of the microwave. Best food was the kids chicken tenders and fries. Told the server that food was not good and the response was priceless. "Sorry but all of our good cooks are at our new location". $50 for food I wouldn't serve to a dog. We will taking our business elsewhere from now on. read more

I first discovered this chain out in owosso in a TINY little building that used to be a bank. When we moved to Burton I was so excited to find out we had one right down the rd! It's my favorite! And the new location with the new bar is awesome! Great food and I love the atmosphere! They usually have margarita specials or Mexican beer specials. read more

The absolute best Mexican food in Grand Blanc! Always a good time with great waitstaff. Last time we had an issue with my mother not receiving something she ordered, but we weren't charged for it when the bill came so we just said left it at "no harm, no foul". We come often, never have a long wait to be seated, and all the employees are always extremely friendly. read more

I have lived all over, including San Antonio TX. Let me tell you that this is my all time favorite mexican restaurant ever. Whenever i am home this is the number one place i must eat at. I was not happy with the wait and we didnt get our silverware for a while.i didnt get my side of rice and beans and it came with the meal i was not very happy with the service either the lady didnt know what anything was and the beer was warm so we had to order something else.i will not be coming here again read more

We first entered to no one at the service table. Which then turned into five minutes of us waiting for someone to lead us to our table. We got to our table and preserved our food. Service was okay. Except for the part where there was barely any employees in sight and to help us. We ordered and everything was good. And then our orders slowly came and I ordered the chicken fajitas. I ended up asking for corn tortillas and then got flour. No big deal, so I asked for corn tortillas. Which then took almost twenty minutes for them to get those out. Keep in mind my family along with only three others were in the restaurant at the time. And when they can back they came out with a package of four tortillas when we originally ordered eight. Once again no big deal. And asked for more. And it took them about fifteen minutes for those to be served to us. Overall the servers were nice but kept failing to get our order right. read more

I ordered Taco salad and it had the meat was tasteless no season.white cheese,lettuce and tomatoes on the side with sour cream.The waitress asked us what we want to drink and she doesn't know much English,she kept saying do you want coke,we said no just water.The tables were so small and with all the condiments and sauces on them took up the room on the tables,no room to eat. read more

Nice atmosphere and good food. However, watch out for the side charges. I got a lunch special. Said no to beans and rice that were included but was charged extra for sour cream and $2.50 for a side of guacamole. Wow! Next time I will just have them bring the beans and rice and leave them. I go to El Potrero when I want some Mexican food that isn't coming out of some corporate playbook. They definitely cater to the more American tastes of the locals with combination plates heavy on the sauces and meat, but the flavors are authentic and the food seems to be cooked to order as far as freshness and presentation goes. The fajitas are always good -- and they have good flan to boot. The lunch specials are a great deal. I especially like their verde sauce anything. They do it up right, the atmosphere is appropriately colorful, and service is pleasant and unintrusive. read more

I've been going to this Restaurant since it opened. The quality of the food is very good and I can count on it being the same quality and just about the amount every time I go there. I like the colors of the first location much better, brighter more cheerful. The new location is a little further down the road and is much darker on the inside and looks more like a Bar instead of a Restaurant. I understand the move for more parking space. Since I go there for the taste of the food, I guess it doesn't matter. I would appreciate the staff if they could smile once in a while, makes the visit much more enjoyable. I do find when you order a take out, you get double the refried beans and less rice, other than that, the food is excellent. Love the chips and salsa. The price of the food is very reasonable and the menu has a large selection of meals, appetizers and specials. Will continue to be a regular, hope you will also. read more
