It was very updated and clean but the bread was hard and wasn't very good. Even my husband wouldn't eat it and he normally eats everything and anything. The whole tray of sweets got thrown away in the trash practically, kind of a waste of money. read more

I typically have a fantastic experience here. This bakery has wonderful food. Today, I ordered food by phone for pick up. On arriving to El Prado I was met by a sign at the door and security telling me only one family member was allowed in. I was not told this when ordering. I have an 8 and 9 year old (all of us masked) that I cannot leave in the car due the heat or on the street due to safety. The security guard told me to leave them with my husband. Fantastic idea but I am a single mom with no family here in El Paso. Leaving the girls at home alone is not an option. He told me I could go in with them but I needed to figure it out next time. I walk to the counter and was treated with hostility by the employee. I offered to wait outside and she angrily pointed at the corner and told me, "WAIT THERE!" I made sure my children did not touch anything and stayed with me. As we were leaving we were again attacked by the same employee who had been rude earlier who yelled the rule to me as I was walking away. She proceeded to very rudely, and loudly tell her coworkers her side of the story. I understand there are rules. As a healthcare provider I respect them. All I ask is for kindness. Perhaps some troubleshooting. The security guard could have offered to watch the girls while I went in. Perhaps the food could have been ready when we arrived as I was told it would be ready in ten minutes when it actually took 20. Perhaps they could have informed me of the 1 person for family rule when phoning in my order. I would have canceled my order and went elsewhere. Perhaps they could have offered curbside delivery. There were so many better ways to have handled this situation than the aggression and anger that I received today. read more

Normally the tamales are great, but the batch of red and green we bought for our office Christmas party were literally nothing but masa and little filling, absolutely horrible. Called, rude gentleman wanted us to bring them back so they could "verify" our complaint. Said no manager available until Friday 3 days later. Left my name and number, no one called. I was very optimistic and excited about trying this place out. That quickly faded.. The ladies at the front counter are very rude. I asked her, how much do the sweet breads cost and she said they all have different prices, I don't have time to tell you how much each costs. ... I thought that was rude. I asked her to give me a range (there are no prices displayed on the breads) She told me some are $0.70, $0.80 , and $1.00 ... I was unable to choose based on price so I just picked out six breads. She asked if I wanted to add an additional 2 so I can get to take them home in a plastic disposable tray. I said sure. And added an additional 2 breads. Then I ordered two burritos a chile relleno burrito and a deshebrada ala mexicana. She asked if I wanted beans, I said that I would take a little bit of beans of the chile relleno she never told me how much more it was going to cost. Although, I should have asked. I then asked if they had any salsas in to go containers. She said yes and proceeded to charge me as I was adding on to my order. I asked her how much they were a piece, She said that they are are $1 a piece! I told her to remove it from my total. I then decided to order tamales (they were out of dulce tamales ) I ordered half a dozen green chicken and half a dozen cheese with chile. My total was $30! I thought that was pretty high but nonetheless, like I said the girl was not being very friendly at all. I just thought I would leave from there and hopefully everything would be good.. WelI can tell you this the best thing there I would say are the burritos both burritos were very good. Although, I think I was overcharged because when I look at my receipt there are 2 $1 charges that are unitemized. I'm thinking $1 was for the beans and $1 was for the tray for the bread? The tamales were a joke the chicken were very dry and crumbly there was no flavor. The chile and cheese were also dissapointing. There was one shriveled piece of chili in them. They should just call them cheese tamales. The sweet bread was very tasty but for the price I personally think it wasn't worth it. Will I go again? If I'm in the mood for a burrito then yes but for any other item I will pass. If I can give any suggestions it would be to display prices on the breads, include prices on the menu for add ons such as salsa and beans, and definitely work on customer service. read more

Just visited El Prado Bakery for the first and sadly last time. My husband, daughter and I ordered a torta de Milanesa, burrito de barbacoa and a burrito de jamon y papas. We literally waited 45 minutes for our order! About 30 minutes into our wait I approached the counter and was told it would be 11 more minutes because the Milanesa needs to be fried. I have cooked Milanesa before and found it hard to believe that after 30 minutes they were still needing 11 more minutes. We sat in their sitting area and 15 minutes later our order was brought to us. 45 minutes to cook 3 items, really? Never again. read more

We went in for tamales at about 5:30 pm and were told we would have to wait 20 minutes for the tamales to be ready. We agreed to wait and after 20 minutes asked about the tamales. The young man assisting the customers again said that there was a 20 minute wait. After telling him that he had already said that to us 20 minutes ago, he looked startled and dumbfounded. He then said that it may take 20 minutes or maybe even 30 min more. If he would have told us from the beginning that we would need to wait 45min. to 1 hr., we would have made a different decision. What he did was deceiving and careless. It looked like he was more interested in talking to the young lady next to him. The customer service was really bad which means we will probably not be going back. For a new place you'd think they would focus on efficiency and customer service more than relationship building with pretty girls. I was not at all satisfied nor impressed with this place. read more

This is the best bakery in town. From the fresh bread to the tasty burritos, there is no other bakery that offers such a variety. I look forward to my daily trip to this bakery, order my favorite burrito (El Jefe) and cup of fresh coffee, then sit in the patio and get some work done on my laptop (free wifi). I had a horrible experience at this Bakery. Their customer service habits are horrific! I waited for what seemed forever (mind you, I was the only one in the restaurant) for my breakfast tacos and noticed a customer walked in, placed her order and left. While I was waiting for my order I noticed an employee, an older guy wearing a baseball cap (tatted) behind the counter, on the phone speaking to his children so I got up and questioned what had happened to my order. His response was "You have an order?" OMG!!! His excuse was that due to the printer in the front being broken (not my problem), orders were being sent to the printer in the back and the lady that took my order should have handed the order to the cook. I should mention that previous to my encounter, this same guy had a confrontation with another customer before me regarding her order being wrong and she was requesting additional salsa for her tacos. He proceeded to tell her that "only certain tacos qualify for salsa" which I found completely ridiculous! That should've been a "red flag". Anyways, back to my horrible experience, I told him that they were full of excuses (referencing the previous customer). His response was "everyone makes mistake" but his tone was with attitude. I told him he had a bad attitude and he said he had a bad attitude because I was being rude, the nerve of him to tell me I was rude! I asked to cancel my order and refund my money. I told him "If you had not been busy on the phone with your kids, you would have noticed me sitting there waiting". You would've thought he would ask why I was sitting there. Obviously, it went down hill from there. He got extremely aggressive and obnoxious with me, we exchanged not-so-nice words (mainly from him). He told me to get out and never come back! I told him not to worry about that, I just wanted my money back. He commented "The pope would be very proud to see me act this way". What does the Pope have anything to do with this? OMG, this guy was out of control! If he is not fired soon, he will certainly bring this business down with his attitude. My advice to the owner "Get rid of this guy, he is ruining your business!" Service was very bad.. I called at 9:40am to place an order and was placed on hold, which is totally understandable to wait a few minutes until they finish attending the customer they were with but no I was on hold for 15 minutes and that whole time I kept hearing the conversations that the man who answered the phone was having with one customer after the other, and other, and other and he never got back to me on the phone. I had to hang up and call again and the line was obviously busy since their phone was still one the call that they had me on hold for the longest time.. I called several times and it was still busy Finally at around 10:10 they answered my call and I placed the order. Once I got there to pick it up they didn't even have an order under my name no one had knowledge about it.. There's was also people there waiting and they were complaining because they had been waiting 20 min for a single burrito they had ordered over the phone and still had been waiting there all that time.. Something needs to be done and be more organized because obviously this system is not working if so many people are complaining about it. read more
