I give Prado Bakery a 2 star because , We bought tamales that had not been fully cooked and we all know how tamales are not cheap, so we come home with the anticipation of having some really good tamales and they turn out to be all uncooked/ soggy , RAW! then I try calling the bakery to let them know and they never answer. Then the last time we ordered menudo and they gave our order wrong they gave us posole instead , I know they are super busy but if they start doing this and don't have high expectations for how they prepare orders or food , they will loose business. Went there about a month ago in the evening, and the chola that works there was mad and in a hurry to close when they still had 2 or more hours until close time. She made it seem like it was an inconvenience that I went there to buy bread. Anyway, I went back again tonight hoping someone different was there, and there was. But you know, the quality of customer service isn't good there. Anyone I have encountered there seems like they are in a hurry to make you go away. This is a great bakery on the Far East side. The prices are unbeatable and their bread is to die for. Burritos and tamales the menu are delicious as well. One major thing they do lack is a variety of salsa. They do have red salsa for a quarter sized cup for 25 cents. I suggest getting there before church on Sundays to avoid the lines. read more

Customer service sure makes a difference. I don't understand why these ladies always have an attitude. Since my kitchen is being renovated I thought eating here would be a good idea, and oh how wrong I was. They don't even have plates?! Which makes me question why they even have tables and advertise a plate on their TV? I purchased pozole and the meat to hominy ratio was horrible. The taste was good but it was just too much meat and not the kind you want to eat, mostly fat. I don't know if people actually like bones in their pozole but that's not the case for me, and my orders had way too much. Also if I'm paying extra for lemons, which I've never had to pay for at any other place.. I don't expect dried up lemons without juice. Since I couldn't eat the pozole I ordered a "rojo" burrito which was really good. Went in today to order breakfast burritos to go, a cholo looking gentlemen named Ricardo took my order, as well as my friends and both were completely wrong. I called the bakery to kindly let them know because I truly love this place and was sad we couldn't enjoy these burritos on our way back to Phoenix. The reason for the 1 star is due to the lack of respect & customer service. I tried to explain to Ricardo what happened as he instantly turned defensive & argumentative on the phone stating "I beg to differ the order wasn't wrong you ordered it wrong mam". The long line Sunday morning should be your first sign that this place is going to be good. They have a good selection of goods. We got bolios with ham and cheese. They guy put in plain bolios in a bag and handed it to us with our pastries. When we got home we were disappointed but we went back two day after and they remembered us so we got our sandwiches. The bread is very good and flavorful. The conches were fresh and light. I got the cheesecake. It seemed like it had been there all week, so it was a bit dry but I like it that way. I wish zero stars was an option. I'm in El Prado right now. This is not my first time here, however I just came here to get 2 gallons of milk as opposed to going to Chevron which I clearly would have been done with by now. I'm clearly being ignored despite standing at the register with my milk on the counter for almost 10 minutes. Just got "helped" Johnathan and Gabbie were working. His first sentence was "do you need a bag?" If I were the manager, I would fire him on pure ineptness. Had I been a dishonest person, I could have caused the register to be $9.50 short and got free milk. If he were to fail this time, what issues happened before? What about the future? The first 5 years of a restaurant are crucial and Johnathan is failing them. I stated that they ignored me. Johnathan became argumentative, he stated that he was asking who was next, those were never his words. He walked up to other people behind a different counter and asked how he could help them; he made eye contact with me several times but ignored me. Part of me thinks that it could be because I am not a Mexican-American and that it was possibly racially motivated, I do not want to believe that that is the case. Gabby even looked at me and looked away called a lady up to the counter and talked to her in Spanish even though she came in after me. I tried to explain that I was displeased and that he helped everybody else but me but he began acting quite immaturely as opposed to properly dealing with the customer. I am extremely displeased; part of me wants to talk to the manager so they can fix the situation, the other part of me wishes that I wouldn't even write this review because I want them to fail. This kid still didn't want to charge me and it was very understandable that I was not welcome here.... I had to say the words "so are you going to charge me?" I had to ask him to charge me. Angrily, I tossed to $5 bills on the counter and walked away. Johnathan said as I was walking away, "you don't have to throw the money, you can place it on the counter." What gall! Cutest little bakery! So clean and well designed. I love that the kitchen is open and you can see everything that is going on inside. We have only come here for sweets. Delicious pastries and baked goods. Sooo cheap! About 70 cents per baked good. Everything is fresh and the owner is very friendly! Since the groundbreaking we have eagerly anticipated the opening of El Prado Bakery on Rich Beam. Like many others I can testify that indeed it was worth the wait! The interior of the building itself is a work of art with hand painted murals and witty chalkboard style sketching it has the feel of an Albuquerque Art District Bistro or in Austin Texas Cafe. Cleanliness is next to godliness and this place fits the bill. The floors windows counters walls and restrooms are squeaky clean. Most importantly the food they craft is absolutely delicious! . It's Mexican fare with fresh baked breads, pan dulcet and the best damn donuts I've had here in ElPaso. They make burritos and tortas (sandwiches) to order, menudo with all the fixings and tamales and so much more. Their cookies are as beautiful as they are delicious. One of the best aspects is the sale of milk by the gallon. They're a reasonably priced neighborhood bakery that we feel blessed to have close to home! Keep up the good work El Prado! The lb brisket is pretty good. I like coming here to grab some and avoid the grocery store. They also have barbacoa too. The apple fritters are pretty much standard fair, nothing to write home about. Checked yelp before we went and saw the huge mix of reviews. Decided to check it out any ways. To specify, we went on a Sunday afternoon. I'm not sure how busy they are around holidays or at other times, but when we got there the place was pretty quiet. The lady at the counter was nice enough to put up with the multitude of questions I had, and explained their items very clearly. Ended up ordering menudo with hominy, two sweet empanadas, two donuts, one tamale rojo and one tamale verde. The dough on the empanadas and donuts are more bread-like (not flaky pastry or super fluffy sponge), which didn't bother me any. The tamales were well stuffed although a bit on the dry side. The large order of menudo with hominy was pretty good - especially for the price - and comes with two white breads. read more

We got a plate of pan dulce to bring to work and it was so hard to decide which one to try. I have been here once before after a group run with the running club I participate in but that time I only had coffee. The pastries are so big it is best to cut into quarters and share 4 between 4 people because you will want to taste them all. My favorite is the caramel filled croissant. They also sell burritos and pozole/menudo if you don't have the sweet tooth. The bakery has ample seating and is good for groups to have breakfast together without feeling cramped in. This new eatery is an excellent place to grab quick delicious pastries and delicious tortas. The bread is made in house and is sooo good! We visit family in El Paso around that part of town and we always make a point to stop by. The customer service is always excellent. There is one thing to note is that some people from El Paso are quite rude. There have been a few instances. One was when a lady customer was trying to purchase her Mexican pastries with her EBT card and was upset the device for the card wasn't working. Now, call me crazy but I'm pretty sure that card was intended for needs and not wants. Another was when a family came in and ordered tortas and a man who I assume was the father came in barging thru the door very upset that their food wasn't ready. The bakery was crazy packed that day. The employees were scrambling to get everyone served in a timely manner and here comes this guy making a scene. If you've never worked in customer service ever, please don't assume for a moment that it's a walk in the park. There are very rude customers who need to stay home and cook for themselves. Thanks to yelp I decided to give this place a try. We took the kids, let them pick out some cookies (the minis are 10 for a $1). We bought some tamales to share and two picadillo burritos. The burritos were delicious! They were made in fresh tortillas that alone were excellent. The kids ate some red tamales which also got rave reviews. The service was pretty fast and the little seating area was nice too. The only thing I would suggest would maybe having a for oh ere or to go option, so if people choose to stay and eat they could get maybe some little plastic forks and plates. We had no trouble eating our burritos but the kids had a harder time with the tamales. Also worth mentioning is the decor, it's modern, clean and really nice overall. It's like your favorite Mexican bakery mixed with a coffee house. Lots of clean nice tables to eat at, murals in the entryway and inside, huge electronic screen menus, and really interesting lighting fixtures too. You can tell the owners put a fair bit of time into the design of this place. We will definitely be back to try more! read more
