We walked right in and after an awkward few minutes and no clear indication on whether we sit ourselves or we wait to be seated, I accosted a waitress who told us to sit. The food was just average and came out relatively quickly. However, the customer service was truly bad. The wait staff was kind, but it took about 30 minutes for us to waive down our waitress for the check; 45 minutes to get a cup of coffee. A friend of mine recommended el Pub restaurant to enjoy some Cuban food on a trip to little Havana today. I asked him what I should order and he said order the grouper. We were greeted promptly and chose a booth seat. There was a small tour group there up front when we entered from the parking lot side in the rear. The server was quick setting us up with waters, menus, and placemats. We ordered a colada and bacalau fritters. I ordered grouper and my wife ordered churasco, a skirt steak. The meal comes with two sides of your choice. The food was good the portions were large and prices were fair, to cheap. The cleanliness was poor to average, but not scary. The decor was perfect, simple and rustic with a diner feel. It all worked for me the grouper was moist and perfectly cooked with onions on top. The server was motherly and I loved it. I don't usually write bad reviews, but this time I couldn't help it. This place is with no doubts the worse choice I made on my trip in Miami. The food was okay. It was cold and you could tell it had been waiting for us for like a day. Also the service was terrible. We tried to be nice to the waitress and she was extremely rude the whole time. Not a single smile or smirk at all or didn't even make eye contact while speaking to us. On top of that, we ran out the place and I left my wallet on the table hoping that when I called the waitress would have been kind enough to save it for me after cleaning the table. That didn't happen. They said they never saw it and when I checked my bank account someone had tried to make some purchases around that area for the whole day. Well, even when it was a rundown slice of Miami this place demanded its presence and fed the working class people who belonged to the neighborhood. It's no frills & even though they now have new glassware, it represents the grittier part of Miami where the working class frequents to fill their stomach. It's light on the pocket and is open late. Their surroundings have changed significantly in the past ten years and I'm glad to see their evolving without losing their essence. News flash; you're not here for fine dining. The waitresses aren't going to fold the napkin for you in a dainty way and the quality of service depends on your fluency in Spanish. It's a very regular Cuban spot in a completely gentrified area that is now prone to serving foodies and tourists instead of just the local crowd. I see it as a blessing to get a pan con bistec after hours without paying tourist prices so it's the silver linings that make this place what it is. Great food. I have not tried any Cuban cuisine, this is my first and it's really good. I order the Lechon with black bean rice and salad. Great portions too. We went on a viernes culturales day. It was packed after we left around 9pm. There was live music too. I would probably come back here. As for the service, I think they need more staff. But we didn't wait a long time to be served. I tried this restaurant when visiting Little Havana on a Sunday. It's on Calle Ocho close to gift shops, cigar shops, and Domino Park. The location was nice and had a nice view of the active street from the side window seating area. The older waitress helping us could have been a little nicer I feel but no big deal. I ordered arroz con pollo and an empanada on the side. The plate was a large portion size and tasted very authentic. If you want to feel like you're getting a home cooked meal, this is the place. The food was too SMALL for what you pay for. The prices were big and the portions were child size. My son and I ordered Cuban sandwiches which were HALF of what the portion would be for a content homeless person. He probably would've thrown the food back in our face if given what we received today. My wife ordered Ropa Vieja however the order was so small that we chose to eat what we were given and visit another restaurant since we got appetizer size for main meals. Time for a bunch of reviews from Miami! I was at Miami last week for a work award trip for a few days and was privileged to visit Little Havana and tried their traditional food. El Pub was our first stop for the eating tour and it looked like a very old school fast food restaurant, which gave it a very good traditional feel. We were provided an Empanada and a Cubano (meat sandwich) to try. I have to say, I was super impressed with both food! At first, I wasn't too sure about the Empanada as it was fried with beef and "looked" greasy, but I still took a bit and i loved it! Tons of great tasting and tender minced beef with olive and fried to perfection. It was so tasty and I wish I had another one! The Cubano was also awesome, although it didn't look too impressive at first, but once you take a bite, you are hooked! Not only the slices of meats were great, the pressed bread really hit the spot! The bread was so flavorful, they must have used a lot of egg in making it!! If i ever go back to Miami again I will make sure I come to El Pub for more traditional food! read more

This was a fast lunch option, and that it was. I've always seen it as I drive down 8 street, but never stopped in, and glad we did. I had some rice & beans with bistec de pollo and it was exquisite. No wait time, live music, and friendly servers. Although the service we received at El Pub was friendly and welcoming, the food was hardly satisfying. My boyfriend and I came here by recommendation of a local cigar shop owner. He raved about the Cuban sandwich which we sought during our visit in little Havana, however the product we were delivered was hardly a Cuban sandwich. For $34, we paid for a half pitcher of sangria (which was the only gratifying purchase we made here), and two sandwiches which looked and tasted more like grilled cheese cardboard than anything else. The Cuban sandwich was a few cuts of meat, warmed next to a slice of cheese, pressed between a split Cuban roll. There were no spreads and no other toppings and the sandwich was so toasted and dry it was abrasive inside our mouths. The other sandwich was supposedly a specialty item because it included slices of pepperoni and prosciutto. Essentially, it was no different than the Cuban, aside from the addition of two other meats. Regretfully, we didn't get the Cuban sandwich we were promised here and didn't seek another elsewhere out of fear of being fooled twice. Never again... read more

I've been here before and it was great but came back for breakfast and $70 later it was not worth it. We ordered a breakfast sandwich that states it bring eggs, cheese and your choice of protein and that's exactly what we did. We also ordered it with onions, the waitress brought out bread with chorizo that's it ... no egg, no cheese, no onion. We ordered a side of fries and they threw some raw onion on the fries and charged us for it. When I told the waitress that what they brought out wasn't what I ordered she told me I pointed at the menu wrong and that's why it was brought out that way so I asked her to bring me the menu so I can show her that it states egg, cheese and your choice of protein sandwich. To not make matters worst we just asked her to bring our eggs with cheese and we can build the sandwich ourselves. 20 min later we got it, by that time everything was cold already but we just dealt with it. We understand mistakes happen but to try and blame us for ordering it wrong when I just read her what the menu says is ridiculous. 18% tip is already included when we weren't helped or taken care of at all. This was the most expensive breakfast and we were not satisfied at all. This is not an authentic cuban restaurant, they usually take very good care of you but this was definitely not it. read more

The food no matter the time of day is delish. Hot and tasty every time. Portions are always enough to box up if you want. Price ranges from $8+... a must try is their Cafecito.
