Let's start off by saying it's truly a two and a half star type of place. However, its pros slightly outweigh it's cons so I'm giving it a three. El Pueblito is located in a coordoir of Mexican restaurants on the Southwest Blvd, so it has a lot of competition. But, to its advantage, it's one of the only restaurants that makes the decision to stay open late, and when I say late, I mean LATE. It also has a pretty good patio to enjoy during the day or evening. These are the two "pluses" that bump this Mexican dive up to three stars. I love sitting on the patio solo and soaking up the sunshine while enjoying a Mexican beer. Another plus to consider is Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 11-3pm tacos are $1 offered with three meat variations. These are solid for the price and honestly may be the only dollar tacos left in the city. Now, the newest tacos in El Puelitos lineup are Birria, which are never $1, but, for Birria, they are fairly affordable. You get four tacos and the dipping broth for a little under $12, which is a few dollars cheaper than a few other eateries nearby. But, the cheese dip is way over-priced! For a small cup of reheated white cheese dip, you pay outrageously nearly $10, $7.95 to be exact, and it should be under $5. Beer is decently priced but not cheap unless you hit one of the two happy hours. Yes, another plus is they have a late-night one. Now, the service and the interior could use some work... both are definitely subpar. Be prepared to ask for drink refills and your check unless you want to linger around for well over an hour. The inside is near falling apart, and the restroom situation is a one person at a time, walk through the kitchen type of situation. So, if you can look past those things and want some late night, reasonably priced Americanized Mexican food El Pueblito could still be a choice near downtown destination.

Small intimate sized dining experience. We arrived after a comedy show at the Midland, so it was pretty late and pretty busy. We were able to walk in and be seated within a few minutes, which was good. Our server was ok, but she didn't really give much insight into the menu items as it was the first time for 95% off our party. We asked questions, and she wasn't very clear in the answers. The food was just ok as well. I can't say that I've ever been to a Nexucan restaurant that charges for chips and salsa while you wait, but this was a first. The salsa had a very strong tomato base to it. The highlight for me was the queso that smothered my chimichanga, although the shredded chicken in the chimi was far from tender. I'm not sure I'd return, but if by chance I did, I would certainly try a very different menu item.

Came here after a concert at Midtown in downtown KC with a group of friends. I didn't know they did HH late at night (so that was a bonus). It was open seating when you get to the restaurant. On a nice night, we sat outside on their patio. Once we were seated, they offer us salsa and chips! The salsa has a kick to it. I ordered the carne asada tacos and the price for the tacos made it even more delicious! The shrimp ceviche was very flavorful. Overall, I would definitely come back for the HH. It was such a great place for a hangout / late night snack with friends.

Now serving Birria tacos. Delicious and flavorful. Great cheese pull. Located in the Westside community of KCMO. Patio seating is offered making it the perfect spot to visit on a beautiful day. Quick & friendly service. Monday, Wednesday or Friday 11-3 for $1 ground beef, al pastor or asada tacos.

This place was incredible!!!! The food was some of the best Mexican I've ever had. As a NorCal native (5th generation) I did not expect to find good Mexican food in the middle of the country. But this place delivered with service, amazing and generously sized drinks, as well as outstanding chile verde & chile rellano. Eván, our server, was friendly and efficient as well! We will be back time and again!!!

I mean, honestly.... What's better than happy hour on Sunday?!? If you think about it, it's really a luxury. I was in the mood for chips, salsa and margaritas one Sunday afternoon, and El Pueblito popped up in my search results. Located near downtown, this place was perfect for a lowkey, solo outing. My waitress was great, answering all of the questions I had. I started off with ceviche as an appetizer, great pick! I chose tampiquena as my main course, and I was pleased from start to finish. The tortillas were dipped in a delicious red enchilada sauce, and it created the perfect soft, flavorful staple for the plate. I was completely obsessed with the creamy onion and pepper sauce, and I wish I had more to top my tacos with. I'm definitely down for a second visit!

I love El Pueblito! This one of my favorite spots to grab margaritas in KC. Their 2 for 1 happy hour special is amazing! The mini tacos and enchiladas are delicious. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow, but over all the food and drinks are amazing. If you are looking for great margaritas check them out on Tuesdays or Sundays for their all day happy hour and thank me later!

The service was pretty slow for a lazy Sunday afternoon where the restaurant wasn't very busy however the kitchen cranked our order out quickly. They make a homemade "black sauce" that is to DIE for. It is served cold and they are generous with the meat portions. It gave an option for dining with a group of people or simply dining alone. We arrived around 1pm on a week day, so just after the lunch rush which was perfect. The food was made fresh, I've always wanted to try the barria taco but no one seems to offer anything but a beef option. And finally, I found a chicken one. It was Delish !! Now I couldn't dip in the au just because it was beef but I appreciate having the option. The Mexican rice was light and flavorful. The queso was good however it stiffened up pretty quickly, just in case you feel the anxiety of choosing between. Your appetizer and the main costs course. Over all, a great experience for a late afternoon lunch. Check out it when your craving tacos, I don't think you'll be disappointment.

I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. If you've never been, you should come and see what your opinion is, but really cool aesthetics and great views.

I wish I would've had more time to look around the market because it looked like they had a lot of good stuff but I'll have to go back and see. They do have tables inside that you can eat at. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh. Per usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I saved half of my burrito, but it was a welcome leftover meal the following day.
