    Mexican Ice cream!!!

Great place to get your ingredients for Mexican food plus they have a little restaurant in the back. Mexican Ice cream too!!! The restaurant in the back has the closest to 'Authentic Mexican' I've found around here. Small menu but the tortillas are fresh and the meat soooo flavorful. Love the Lengua! Oh and the best homemade Horchata I've had in a long time!!!! Not too sweet or artificial tasting like most places

El Puerto Azteca is a grocery store, prepared foods hotbar, deli counter, ice cream parlor, cowboy boot shop, and variety goods discount store, all with three gambling monitor units and a dining room in the back. They sell a little of everything. As a latin market, they have a huge variety of groceries for hispanic cooking, and the bakery section had a ton of authentic options (see my pics). Puerto Azteca came on my radar from a Yelp search for ice cream, and I was very pleased with their cold cases filled with latin gelato and frozen popsicles. Not only were the colors beautiful, but the fruit, nut, chocolate, dulce, etc. flavors were just absolutely fresh and high quality. Completely spot on for anything I was craving, and the fruit ones were beyond my wildest dreams, seriously, like the freshest fruit blended in there. Simply outstanding flavors. I stayed on Jekyll, so Puerto Azteca was a bit of a hike for me, but I visited twice, and definitely would've gone more if I'd found them earlier in my trip. Absolutely worth the drive for sweets and stellar baked goods. Wish I'd gotten a chance to explore more, like the hot bar foods. I hope to return a lot when I'm in the area again!

Hole-in-the-wall inside of a small, Mexican grocery/meat store. Space: Barebones with seven tables that can seat four people each. Service: Very friendly. Took about 20 min for chicken burrito and two chicken tacos, even though there was only one other table when I ordered. Food: Chicken burrito -- had good flavor. Rice, tomato, chicken, lettuce, and jalapeño with a toasted crisply tortilla. Overall solid but nothing noteworthy, and I wish it was a little bigger for the price. Chicken taco -- was overall ... dry. Had to really doctor it up with the salsa, lime, and cilantro/onion. Overall a letdown. Final verdict: 1. I may have come on an off day. 2. It seems like an authentic spot; I was the only non-Spanish speaker at the restaurant. 3. I paid $10 for two chicken tacos and a chicken burrito, but I left feeling not 100% full (I have a male college student-sized appetitive). 4. It wasn't the best tacos I've ever tasted but it was decent.

4.5 Stars based on quality, taste and value. Location has a bit to be desired. Hidden in the back of a small Mexican Bodega in a nondescript old shopping center on Norwich Street is this gem of a taqueria. It is nothing fancy, but the food is delicious and the prices are practically in pesos. I love to pick up a quick chicken taco on the ride home. Their chicken taco has a very generous portion of chicken and comes with two hot sauces as well as a lime cilantro and onions. They have seating, that is pretty generic. Nothing fancy, but suitable for the place.

This is truly a one stop shop. Restaurant, meat market, shoe repair and ice cream bar makes it a local neighborhood go to location.

He ordered a burrito with asada and chorizo and I ordered the same curious to try out chorizo and once we got our order.......absolute crickets because we were in awe of how good it was. We just smiling and nodding our heads at each other with a mouthful murmurs of it's so good. Looking around while I'm in enthralled in the goodness of this burrito it definitely has a local street vendor vibe with a big seating area complete with a bar and TVs somewhat blasting mariachi music but it just added to the vibe. We could not stop talking about this place when we got back to work and I said I'm def going back for dinner to where he said man I'm still full but I'd def consider it. Well I went back later in the evening and it was still hopping like it was for lunch and a different girl was working the counter (a little less friendly then the lunch one but I get it it's busy in there) but still courteous and I ordered 3 tacos 2 asada and 1 chorizo (think I've found my fave) with a modelo (reasonably priced at 5 vs a 8 dollar michelob I had at longhorns a couple of weeks ago shame on you longhorns!) They were delivered and they were perfectly sized...not huge but portioned just enough to hit the spot. Just as tasty and flavorful as lunch was and place was just as busy only difference was they put the TVs on some ambient background and music that was a bit loud but not overwhelming to the vibe. So of course I let my broham know how good it is and he's still like man I'm full but I might pack up the fam and go.....and sure enough after I was settled back home who sends me a pic of his plate lol So definitely check this place out if you're in town and if you like chorizo, you're gonna love this place!
