    $4.50 worth of queso dip
    Chris B.

What a disappointment. Been coming here for many years. It has slowly started descending but tonight it hit bottom.Ordered Camarones Diabla for myself. I've had hotter toast. It consisted of 7 shrimp, rice, and a dollop of guacamole on shredded lettuce. 3 flour fajitas. My daughter had Arroz con Pollo. More zucchini and bell pepper (basically just chopped and thrown on) than chicken and rice combined. Ordered chips and queso, you get more chips in a Lay's snack bag. And a generous portion (sarcasm) of queso. I included photos of all except the shrimp. I hope they can make the $35 l spent last, because it's the last money I'm spending at this location.

Great service with a friendly staff. Good food. The place is clean with an authentic feel. For us this was a do again.

I liked the radish on top of the taco and I liked the choice of salsa. My only complaint is the lime in the green sauce and guacamole. Lime should always, always, be served on the side. It's not appropriate in the food. It's always an add on in Mexican cooking. It's much too overpowering and ruins the flavor of the food. The food should stand on its own. They have two vegetarian tacos, and I rather liked the more "real food" sweet potato and black bean than their tofu taco, but both were delicious. Upon seeing they had a seasonal special salsa; I was glad I took the option to order it as it was delectable and I liked it enough to haul what I didn't use back with me to save for another day. Their rice and beans have a vegetarian option, and given the option for various indulgences, I went for a semisweet chocolate cake, the sprinkles on which were unnecessary but fun. The salt level in something (or everything) was excessive, which had me gulping water. And it's a shame, because they could dial it back and this would still be some quality food.

For my meal, I had the street tacos with both chicken and steak, served with rice and refried beans, along with pickled onions and radish slices. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and the portions were generous for the price. I also tried a collard green and cheese pupusa, which was something new for me since I've only had more traditional ones before. It was absolutely delicious and a unique twist that really paid off. They offer a wide variety of pupusas, so there are plenty of options to choose from if you're a fan or looking to try something different. I chose to sit on the patio, which had a really nice, relaxed ambience. Inside, they also have a bar area with Latin music playing that adds to the overall vibe. Between the delicious food, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices, this spot is definitely worth a visit if you're craving Latin American cuisine.

There was only one person working on the Monday I stopped by, but it was a busy place, and thus not the speediest service. Substantively, I found that my horchata was a strong, nutty beverage. They were out of a tamale that I wanted to order so I just got a bunch of pupusas, including typical options like bean and cheese but also the more distinctive collard greens. They came with an interesting curtido, a lightly pickled cabbage slaw that had a variety of ingredients. Overall, not a 100% smooth experience, but a good way to bring a distinctive flavor to the region.

There were murals on the wall, and other paraphernalia as well. Our server was friendly and attentive, and she was quick to offer refills as well. The cuisine is specifically Sinaloan Mexican, so it is heavily centered around seafood. There were so many unique entrées that I know we're going to have go back and try more stuff. I ordered a shrimp dish ("Camarones al Gusto") with their Diabla sauce. The sauce was very tasty with a medium level of spiciness and a little tang. My mother ordered their Jalapeño Roll, which was a sushi-styled dish. This is the one negative about our meal: she thought the Jalapeño Roll didn't have enough jalapeños and the flavors weren't strong enough. We split fried ice cream for dessert. They have a wide selection of Mexican beers and tequilas. I ordered a Negra Modelo, followed by a Victoria. All in all, I really liked this restaurant, and I look forward to returning.

Our server Selena took her time answering questions about the menu and provided great service. If I had a complaint it would be the place is very loud but that will not stop me from going back.

I then asked the cashier if that scan also attached my rewards number to my order so I'd get points. He said no, I needed to scan my rewards too. So I did. He told me my total, and it seemed a bit high, so I questioned him and asked if my drink was taken off. He said yes. I was still a little hesitant because I knew the total was high, but I went ahead and paid. When I asked for a receipt, he had already crumpled it up and handed it to me that way. When I looked closer, I saw my drink was in fact not taken off. He said he'd need a manager to refund me for the drink. The manager was clearly unhappy with me, one of the least friendly interactions I've had with a manager. She told me that because I scanned my rewards after my free drink reward, it voided the free drink. But again, the employee is the one who told me to scan my rewards, and also told me my drink was taken off. Just an overly frustrating experience. I was given the wrong information by the employee, then made to feel guilty and stupid by the manager on top of it.

Holy Moses what a dirty, unfriendly, terrible Chipotle…read more I mean, that's the review. What, you want details? Well buckle up, buttercup. First, when I walked in the dining room was dirty. Trash on the floor. Tables not wiped. Chairs not reset. It just screamed "We don't give a single sugar honey iced tea about our customers!" Second, when I approached the counter literally NONE of the four front of house staff greeted me, opting instead to continue what must have been a riveting conversation amongst three of them. I stood at the counter for a full minute before the dude in the kitchen bothered to look up and reluctantly ask if he could help me (to which I replied: I certainly hope so because nobody else here seems interested). I had to repeat my order twice, had to ask for guac three times. At no point was eye contact made, a smile offered, or anything remotely close to friendly service attempted. Dude couldn't even close the bowl properly. I mean zero effort. Third, when I went to pay, the person taking my money (well, my card) made ZERO eye contact and literally avoided my effort to engage her. A faint and insincere "thanks" was offered, but she may as well have flipped me off. It was like that. Fourth, when I looked behind the counter I noticed that the entire kitchen was just a train wreck. Trash on the floor, complete with a discarded glove among the effluvium. The line was absolutely messy with food scraps littering every stainless steel surface. Brothers and sisters, I've been a station chef and a KM and I am here to tell you that if a kitchen looks like that, someone is GOING to get sick. If you can't wipe your station down and square away your line, how can I possibly trust you to know your hot and cold hold temps? How do I know you've washed your hands? How do I know you're properly running your dish line (wash, rinse, sanitise)? How can I trust your walk-ins are rotated? I mean do your people actually have their SafeServe certs or are you just putting people on the line and forging the paperwork? It's. That. Bad. Anyone who reads my reviews here knows that I am tough but fair. I will ALWAYS look for a positive. This time, however, there is no positive. I took a chance on the food I was reluctantly served and all I can say is I'm glad I live in a small apartment and the distance between my futon and the loo is slight. Absolutely, without doubt, the WORST restaurant--not just Chipotle, I mean worst RESTAURANT in Staunton. I will be phoning the health department tomorrow and sharing this review with them verbatim. Fire your staff. Clean your restaurant. Start over. For the love of all things good, do all three of these before you cause someone to become seriously ill with a food bourne pathogen. I am disgusted. Zero stars should be an option on Yelp. They could just call it "The Chipotle." EDITED TO ADD: The invitation to "talk to our team" in the response to this review is ludicrous on its face. Your store has reviews going back at least FOUR YEARS with the same complaints and the same response. Your priority if anything is reputation management and definitely NOT good service in a clean kitchen. The health department has been called. Have your "team" talk to them.
