On the heels of having the worst fajitas ever the night before at Ruby Tuesday, these may have been among the best I have ever had. The salsa had more cilantro than most, the food was sizzling hot, the shrimp had actually been grilled and had more flavor than others I have had, and the sides were excellent. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, unfortunately they most of been very understaffed. We couldn't seem to get refills, correct food order, chips or salsa. We had reserved a table on a busy night. We were ignored at the hostess station by several servers. When we stopped one of the servers she said she wasn't allowed to seat anyone and that the hostess was busy waiting on tables. We had to seek out the hostess to be seated. No menus were given nor were any napkins or silverware brought with the complimentary chips. We had to go to the hostess station and get our own menus and silverware. Eventually someone came and took our drink and food orders at the same time. Once the food came out half of our party was served, and the other half sat with no food. The food that did come was served lukewarm to cold. The half that didn't get served sat waiting while the other half finished their meals. Finally the hostess noticed that there were some that didn't have food and fairly quickly had the rest of our party served. This last round was actually served hot! During the wait complimentary chips were not replenished and additional drink orders were never taken. We tried to order straight from the bar and were told that we had to order from our nonexistent server. Clearly there is a management problem here. The servers were not trained well in attention to detail or multitasking. The napkin holders were empty and we got attitude when we asked for napkins. The salt shakers were clogged due to lack of cleaning. We have been here before and had similar issues with service. Do yourself a favor and go to Don Tequila's in town where you get excellent service, replenished drinks, and hot food served to everyone in your party at the same time. read more

I came by on a Friday evening while en route to Fredericksburg, and there were quite a few people - I'd say the restaurant was about 60% full. This was my first time in Lexington, and didn't know what to expect. Coming in, my group of four was seated quickly and the servers were great. We ordered food, which did take quite a while, but not too long. The food wasn't great. Personally, my food was a mixed bag. The tacos had a lot of flavor and were great! However, the rice and refried beans were not great. They tasted like they had been microwaved. My friends also did not have a good experience with their food. Cheap yet large menu. Ordered a steak and chicken fajita salad which topped out at less than $12. Flavors of the salsa and chip are pretty standard nothing to get overly excited about. First and foremost, the staff here is very friendly. Our waitress and was sweet as could be. I had the chori-pollo which is one of my go-to items at most Mexican restaurants. This was okay but nothing great. Oddly not much pop or flavor on either the chicken or chorizo. It had quest on-top but only on half of it and very little at that. The building was very warm and we actually started to sweat a little. The staff must have known because we saw a few fanning themselves. Lastly we were offered a $5 off coupon to leave a review on Google. So we did and then were told it expired in two weeks. C'mon buddy. I came here on 1/13/24 with my mom and son for lunch. It wasn't very busy, I think they just opened. more like a bar/dance hall if you went on a weekend night. The server rushed us to order. There was a long metal shard (about an inch and a half) in my enchiladas supreme (like from a can when you use a can opener). The enchiladas were terrible, the sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce and there was a piece of something hard in the chicken enchilada that I spit out and then saw the metal in the next bite. The guac and cheese dips were pretty good. Everything needed flavor/salt. This is probably the worst Mexican I have ever had. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

It's just ok for Mexican food. The food wasn't horrible but it definitely was not great. And we only got two tortillas with our meals which definitely was not enough. The salsa is ok. After a full day drive and staying at a hotel I decided to grab something quick to eat and this was the closest restaurant. It gets ratings that are pretty high and pretty low (so I'm not sure about those) .. but my experience was decent. I had a special burrito and a Negra Modelo beer. People were very friendly and the food was good. They have this cool white salsa that I'm not quite sure what it is but it was interesting... Secret recipe they told me. Understanding that things are different during Covid, I still feel compelled to leave this review. This was the first, and last, time eating here since they moved closer to town. We chose to eat on the spacious patio, being a warm day and wanting to social distance. There were 3 cars in the lot, and one couple also on the patio, maybe one table inside. So, not at all busy. Right off, we waited for several minutes (more than 5?) before someone appeared with chips and salsa, but none of the "infamous" white sauce. Our actual waiter took another 5 minutes at least to come and get our drink order. He was very pleasant, but somewhat inattentive. The draft beer was cold and great, but the iced tea I ordered looked like dirty tap water, so weak, it really just was cold water, with no tea flavor at all. After waiting about 15 more minutes to order, we sat back to wait. The ala Carte taco we ordered to give us a baseline for the food quality came out alone. It was a genourous portion of beef and Mexican cheese, and the most flavorless taco we have ever eaten. Taco Bell tastes more authentic. No salt, no seasoning. And that set the tone for the rest of the meal. We each ordered a burrito, a carne azada and the muchacho alegre. A good sized burrito, poorly assembled so that the very runny refried beans looked out one end, and the flavorless rice the other, leaving the also bland meats in the center. Even the chorizo had no flavor, which surprised us even more. And that a burrito is served with a side of fries also speaks volumes. Of course, there was no salt on them either. The chip basket, which was tasty enough, was small, and we were never asked if we wanted more. No one checked on us for drink refills, and we had to wait far too long for the check. The service was friendly, just quite slow. All in all, it wasn't awful, but it really wasn't good. And with another Mexican restaurant in town that has a salt shaker and access to some cumin and Mexican spices, there's no reason to come back to this place. read more

When she came back 15 or so minutes later, we we were long, long past ready to order. We asked for a new paper napkin and more salsa. We ordered from the lunch menu, good for well beyond our arrival at the restaurant. We were charged for the dinner menu. The waitress told me that there was a difference between beef fajitas and steak fajitas and that was the cause of the up charge. Maybe so, but she couldn't tell us what the difference was. Moreover, when I ordered, I pointed at the lunch menu. If and when we return-- that is a big question mark--we will certainly ask for a different wait person. Little in our experience, however would encourage my return. It is hard to fairly judge the food given the less than pleasant service experience. If I had a dollar for every time the bf ate here or suggested we eat here.... LOL. I've been here once with a group of 6 and it was a great place to end the night. We came from a full day of wineries so I wasn't in a position to drink anymore but there's always next time! We chowed down on so much salsa and chips, and ordered a variety of entrees- tacos, enchiladas (for me with cheese sauce), quesadillas, and the bf got some carne dish. Tons of food, our tables were full to the brim and you could not put anything else around the platters of food and tortillas and beans and rice. We went to the restaurant yesterday. Worst service ever. It took them more than one hour to prepare 3 dishes (they were cold instead of hot) . They never offered or put napkins on the table, just one round of water and never asked if we needed more. They brought my food and took it back because the server wasn't sure of what I ordered. Once we were ready to pay we told the server to split the account 50/50 and they charged different amounts to both cards; also they REFUSED to take a Bank of America Credit Card from Mastercard. What If I don't have any other card to pay? Why was the service so poor and bad? When I asked the waitress why was it taking so long, she said that "they were busy"; but the restaurant had less than 30 people in like 5 tables, and I told her and she said "yes but the kitchen is busy". Also, we ordered some Quesadillas to go, and they give it to us without any bag or carry on packing. I won't recommend this place. read more

I recently had dinner here and was extremely disappointed. The service was not good, the drinks were weak, and literally every single thing we ordered was bland or tasteless. The manager was really rude when we told him how we felt about the food saying "ive never had a complaint about the food" which i find very hard to believe considering three different people all agreed that our three different meals as well as the queso with chorizo we ordered was beyond bland. We paid for our drinks the queso with chorizo and the plain queso the waitress brought us that was wrong...Then as if the experiance couldnt get any worse one of our dinner guests got sick all night from the food!! The actual meal was delicious! I had the shrimp Ceviche. The complimentary tortillas were average at best. We have stellar tortillas at our local Mexican restaurant in Purcellville (Casa Tequila), so I'm spoiled as far as tortillas go. The actual atmosphere of the restaurant was casual, a bit worn. Quite possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had in forever. They put chips and tasteless salsa on the table gratis, along with a white sauce that tasted like seasoned mayonnaise. I ordered the carne asada. It was unlike any I'd ever had. Usually, the meat is in strips, and it comes with tortillas. Like a high class fajita. But what they served up here was of a lower class, for sure. It came with full scallions, which gave the whole thing a stringy texture. And what tasted like canned string beans. String beans? I got a chicken burrito and the chicken tasted like it was spoiled. I couldn't even swallow it. The cheese also tasted bad. I was afraid to eat it for fear of getting sick. We stopped here on our way down 81. It isn't far from the highway so we figured we would give it a try. The salsa is good, not that spicy FYI. I had the Texas Fajitas, which were delicious. It was a nice portion with shrimp, chicken and beef on a sizzling plate with onions peppers and tomatoes. The flour tortillas were made fresh. I just wish they gave me a few more than 2. My friend had the California Burrito with beef and white sauce. She wasn't as excited about her dinner as I was mine. The lettuce inside was a bit unexpected.
