The employees are always consistent & seem happy to be working there, (like a family) They always have the place decorated very cute for the different holidays. Mi Rancho serves decent food that fills you up at a fair price. I got the carne asada, which was cooked well, but didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The food was prepared very quickly -- about 10 minutes after ordering it. The inside of the restaurant some neat decorations hanging on the wall, and there is an outdoor patio for seating as well. The server was nice, though after checking in for refills, they forgot to bring any of the refills back to the table, and never checked on us again. I'd return here again, but would personally look for other Mexican restaurants around Staunton first. read more

A busy, noisy gem. Authentic Mexican with a much too large menu. Fajitas were good but more onion and peppers than beef. Tacos were good but piled very high with cojito cheese. Was staying in Staunton after driving Skyline Drive, and Mi Rancho was open and had decent reviews. The decor and menu made me think it was going to be another run-of-the-mill Mexican dinner, but it was really great. The Habanero Margarita had actual rings of sliced habanero in it, so it got spicier as it sat. The food was bright and fresh and even the beans had some nice flavor. I wished I had time to try more things. The server was polite and attentive. If I lived in the area this would definitely be a go-to. read more

Staying near the highway on the outskirts of town, we found this Mexican restaurant not far away. It was easy to find because the locals obviously don't keep it a secret. Though busy on a Saturday evening, there was plenty of seating and we were seated without delay. The host was accommodating and the server knowledgeable, answering questions about menu items. The burrito meal and drink were quite good and the 8 or so hot sauces on the table an extra treat. Endless chips and salsa were most appreciated, as well. Very family friendly atmosphere, not too loud, allowing for conversations and just enjoying the moment. Appropriately priced and portions were plentiful. read more

Been here many times, the food is always passable to good. The service is horrible. A Restaurant this busy (why?) needs to have a hostess or someone else other than at the register welcoming and seating people. When your not welcomed, you really dont feel like they want you to eat there. There are no "wait to be seated" signs and no indication of how to be seated... horrible. This is a "chain", do better at welcoming people, making them feel like they made the right choice to come to your restaurant and serve them with gratitude. Fix the atrium entrance so that there is an in door and an out door, servers going g to the patio dont care if your standing waiting to pay or be seated, they just bull through to get in and out through the one door. Your staff always appears to be over worked and mad, or at best frustrated. I am nit disposed to make so.eone happier with a tip, customer service, customer service and customer service. Fantastic Mexican food. Service is great and the menu is extensive. I have had nearly a dozen of the items an all were delicious. Food is prepared fresh, but they are really fast at it so they get everything out fast enough so you have time to enjoy your meal even if you are on the clock for lunch. My sister and I needed to find something to eat on a random Tuesday in Staunton, VA, but it seemed every restaurant downtown was closed. We ended up stopping as Mi Rancho. This place has really good Mexican food. While traveling through the area we did a Yelp check and found this gem. When we arrived they were somewhat busy. We weren't greeted promptly, in fact another couple was seated before is. However we were seated shortly afterwards. Our waitress was polite, efficient and served chips and salsa. . I ordered the two enchilada combo. Within a few minutes we were served our food. My combo consisted of two beef enchiladas covered in red sauce, Mexican rice and refried beans. The meat was favored well and the torrtillas were fresh. The rice was fluffy. For dessert I decided to try the deep fried ice cream. Although the coating was different from what I was used to, it was still good. Overall I'd say this place is a winner and not to be missed if you're in the area. read more

The food is good, but watch out when you go to pay. Twice now, the same middle aged waiter has over charged us, and when I mentioned it at the register, we were told that they had gone up $2 on everything. When I showed him the menu, he still didn't adjust the difference. This happened to friends of ours also. Oh well, you just lost more customers.! read more

After our run at Gypsy Hill we decided to try Mi Rancho for dinner. We ordered two combination plates. Prices are fair and the food was delicious. We also ordered 2 jumbo margaritas. He lost my debit card from the time he left our outside table and went inside to the register. He, the waitress, my friend and I searched but could not find my debit card. As I was on my cell with BB&t canceling my debit card he kept asking why was I doing that, then wanted to know how was I going to pay!!!! Never offered a discount or anything for the meal for HIM losing my debit card that I am now without until a new one comes in the mail. WILL NEVER VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. Very clean with nice and excellent service. My wife's flautas were the best she has ever had. My daughter enjoyed the quesadilla. My Colorado burrito which was shredded pork was also very good. This is an affordable Mexican cuisine. The food is authentic style, not Tex-Mex like you would get at a national chain. The quality is above average, though not top of the line. The menu has lots and lots of options to choose from. The atmosphere is the only problem I have here and the only reason I withheld the 5th star. The tables were decorated but it pretty much stopped there. The huge windows and wood panel walls told the story that this was a repurposed building and while it was clean, it could serve as a burger joint by day and Mexican restaurant at night. It just didn't feel comfortable. Bottom line: It's a good and affordable place to catch lunch, but I'd shy away from heading there with my family again for dinner. read more

We called in an lunch order for our office today, it was three "lunch" taco salads (two chicken and one beef). The person at Mi Rancho took the order, and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We drive to the location to pickup the food and of course it was not ready. The lady behind the counter pulls our ticket, reviews what is on the ticket and punches it into the cash register so that we can go ahead and pay for the food. The price seemed a little more than we usually pay, but some places have upped their prices during COVID-19. We paid $23 and come change for 3 taco salads, we also left a 3 dollar tip and remember our food is not ready yet. We pay by credit card, add the tip, and sit and wait. Another employee then says oh we made you for one lunch beef taco salad and two dinner chicken taco salads. Remember we only ordered lunch taco salads and had ALREADY PAID THE BILL. The person behind the counter punched our ticket into the system and charged us based on that. The worker then proceeded to ask us to PAY 3 MORE DOLLARS before they would give us the food we had already paid for. We were dumbfounded but needed to get back to the office, we paid the extra money and had already paid a $3 tip when we arrived to pickup. We will not be going back here, that was awful service. You don't charge customers on your mistakes. The lady behind the counter also said that the "dinner" version of the taco salad was larger, that was also a lie. All three taco salads were the same basic tack salad. What Mi Rancho needs to realize is they have competition in Staunton and we will thrown our money over there in the future. This is by far the best Mexican food I have had in the Shenandoah Valley. Let me qualify this by saying I am from Colorado- and the Mexican food here usually makes me furious. It is normally just awful- some sort of modified farm food, muted for the palate of 5 year olds. Tortillas with some hamburger and ketchup. This place is the exception. While not perfect, and far from a great taqueria or Baja food, it still stands apart as what would be a decent local Mexican place in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, or California.
