    Steak Fajitas
    Lee T.

Stopped by 3:00 on a Sunday. Party of five sat right away. We were the only ones there:-) service was prompt. Food was nicely presented, tasted great and portions were huge. We had a El Ranchero burrito with steak, a steak fajita, a couple of #4 burrito/ taco from lunch menu, and a super nice bowl - lettuce, tomato, rice, black beans, and steak. Everyone clean their plates.

Super excited to see more restaurants popping up in a Broadway, VA. My boyfriend mentioned there has been a lot of talk about this new restaurant...and the parking lot was packed! Upon Walking in I was greeted by Mexican music and decor...and great smells of promising plates. I have to say the food is not awful, far from it. But I don't think they were adequately prepared for such a strong, highly attended opening. It seems as though they were shortstaffed often times I saw servers literally running through the restaurant, lines for takeout orders and for paying for your order were long just a little bit of an inconvenience. They do not have their liquor license yet so no margaritas to go with your tacos, I asked for horchata and they were also out of that. Little customer service right now since they are spread so thin. They have another location in Harrisonburg, VA. The menu was extensive with plenty of vegetarian, meat, seafood, and kid menu options. Prices were super favorable. I enjoyed my shrimp quesadilla but I'm not sure he type of cheese they use. It didn't taste super high quality and melted weird. The shrimp were larger than expected and seemed fresh and seasoned and grilled to perfection. My boyfriend got the Nachos Tejanas and it was satisfying. Best of luck to the owners since they are recently open! If they improve they small things they can really shine. Otherwise, lines are packed to try El Ranchero anyway!

Always up for trying New Mexican restaurants. Right now this one will be my go to place. Friendly staff and great food for the value.

This was a good local business we stopped at while staying nearby in the mountains. We ordered the bean nachos, and fajitas each. The bean nachos in my opinion were not something I would order again, nothing was wrong with them exactly, they wouldn't be my preference for an appetizer to splurge on on a night out. It is just what it sounds like, refried beans on corn chips. On the other hand the fajitas were great and you got huge portions of the peppers, onions and meat. I would definitely recommend a stop at el ranchero when you come through broadway.

Local Mexican spots always hit, and this one's no different. The amount of meat that came with my fajitas was insane!!

I got the burrito fajita, no peppers, with beef and side of refried beans. The beef was seasoned very well, it wasn't overcooked, but was a little sweeter than I would prefer. The cheese sauce was great, could've used a little more spice. I enjoyed the salsa, I could've had a little less cilantro and been happier with that. The service was great! I was greeted as soon as I was in the door and they were very polite! I will definitely be going back!

Not long after she returned to take our food orders. While we were waiting for the food, someone brought us some warm blankets. All through our meal people kept checking to see whether we needed anything. It was the best service I have seen in a long time, and I arrange a bi-monthly lunch outing for a club I belong to. The food was delicious. The salmon sandwich was incredible, the burrata appetizer was to die for, and I wish everyone had such good French fries. The space is urban chic with a moderate sized dining room and small bar. I would describe the menu as "upscale comfort". Elevated pork chop, meatloaf, pasta for example. At our table we ordered the swordfish nightly special, the wild mushroom pasta, the pork chops, and the potato croquette appetizer. All were beautifully plated and delicious. We also had two exceptional glasses of Chardonnay, and some beautiful cocktails. We enjoyed our evening. This is a great place for a special night out without needing to be fancy or fussy.

We parked in the lot across the street although there is 2 hour street parking. Our server was friendly but it was a little disappointing that one of the drinks we wanted couldn't be ordered because it wasn't available (not sure why because it was just an old fashioned and we could clearly see the whiskey displayed behind the bar) so we ordered a different drink and the exotic mushroom pasta entree I ordered had a choice of being served with gnocchi or pappardelle pasta (which I preferred but again, it wasn't available so I went with the gnocchi). One of my friends got the beef sliders with mashed potatoes ($3 upcharge!!!) (they wanted the beef stroganoff but the chef wasn't able to make it without mushrooms) and my other friend the Brazilian beef stroganoff. The food was delicious. The ambiance was typical of a tavern with the TVs broadcasting the Olympics and the tall ceilings caused it to be a little noisy but not unbearable. We were too full for dessert but the carrot cake had been recommended so we ordered a piece to go (the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen!) along with a slice of their lemoncello cake. Good experience, I would've given them 5 stars had they not been out of so many things and unable to accommodate my friend's wish for no mushrooms

We were seated at 7pm and received appetizers at 8:30pm. He had the steak tar tare and I had the mushroom toast. They were both just okay. Bread, amuse bouche, cocktails all took forever. Maybe 30-45 minutes. There was an acknowledgment of the delay of appetizers with no explanation, however. We received entrees close to 9pm. All were lukewarm at best. Evidently the center my friend's filet was still cold (the order was for medium rare). My husband and I had the lamb and the chicken. Both just okay. He also had an old fashioned that was all ice and not really what you'd expect for a restaurant of that quality. We enjoyed our gin cocktails and wine, but skipped dessert altogether. Honestly, I cannot wrap my head around this experience for a ~$500 meal. If you're looking for somewhere special and a fine dining experience, we'd recommend you look elsewhere in central Virginia.

The hotel is clean, modern, and reasonably priced, but honestly, the real highlight is the Ridge Room. After a long day on the road, I really don't want to get back in the car to find dinner, so having a rooftop restaurant just steps from the room is perfect. The mountain views are great, and the farm-to-table menu is always interesting. We've eaten here several times, and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently good, and the bartenders know what they're doing--the drinks are just as solid as the meals. It's one of those places where the menu might not immediately grab you, but once you try the food, it all clicks. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to.

I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

The timing coincided with…read moreVirginia's state tourism office declining to pay a reported ~$360,000 fee to expand Michelin coverage into more of the state. Others see it as part of a wider "reset" affecting other longtime three-star spots like Alinea (Chicago) and Masa (New York), which also dropped to two stars at the same time. I'm not completely sure why the slight decline but here's my honest view. The scenic drive from DC through the Virginia countryside sounds breathtaking--rolling hills, charming small towns, glimpses of Blue Ridge Mountains but in actuality all of the turns and hills made myself and friend sick. We had to pull over and gather ourselves. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, filled with artwork, pink, green and gold monkey wallpaper and Victorian tables, and English country style. It's maximalist--opulent without being stuffy. Our waitstaff made the evening extra special for my birthday. They constantly wished me a happy birthday, asked thoughtful questions about my life, shared jokes, and engaged in small talk that felt genuine and personal. Not to mention the menu with my name. Each course on the 7-course tasting menu was beautifully presented. We loved having three menu options to choose from: a new seasonal tasting (always fresh and surprising), Enduring Classics (with signature dishes like the iconic lobster preparations or herb-crusted favorites), and a full vegetarian Good Earth menu with the eggplant course being our favorite. The unlimited warm bread service with fresh butter and flaky sea salt was a simple but perfect touch. The Champagne options were endless (their wine list is legendary, with a massive cellar and expert sommeliers), and they even offered a dedicated book/menu highlighting rare waters from around the world--everything from iceberg sources to unique mineral springs. I've never seen a water book before. Standouts for me was the caviar egg, lamb main course and tomato amuse-bouche. If you're looking for a special occasion spot (birthday, anniversary, or just because), this is it. Four people will run you around $2500 including drinks. Con- I would work on the cocktail menu (the Diana tasted like cough medicine). Bring back the pear dessert and portion sizes from 12 years ago. My main lamb portion was embarrassing. Reviewers see pictures for example sizes. Please offer a dedicated pescatarian menu. Overall, Chef Patrick O'Connell and his team did a great job.

Okay, my husband and I have lived in VA for about 2 years and have been wanting to visit this…read morerestaurant really since we moved here. We've been lucky enough to dine at a few Michelin star and bib gourmand restaurants ton include some coveted 3 star spots! A few weeks before our res, we saw the Inn was downgraded from 3 to 2 stars and unfortunately, I can see why from this visit. For context, this visit was $1500 for the 2 of us and included one wine pairing and the cheese cow. At that price point, I would say the meal and experience were not worth it. The food: the food was both great and okay. There are a few dishes that are extremely exciting. I had the vegetarian menu, while my husband had the classics. The egg, carpaccio, eggplant, and cheese cow were the stars. Everything else was good, but not outstanding. Pineapple and Pearls (another Michelin restaurant in DC) offers a more exciting menu at about the same price. The service: this is where the loss of a star became annoyingly apparent to me. It might seem bratty, but for $1500 and a Michelin spot, you expect a napkin folded when you get back from the bathroom and adequate spacing between courses. My husband noted he felt the meal was rushed. For one dish, they brought me the wrong silverware and at the end of the meal, they forgot the coffees we ordered and our takeaway gift (little chocolates in a cutesy paper house). They also asked if we wanted time with our cocktails before the meal began and we said yes, but they brought us the cocktail, wine pairing, and first course all at once. The staff is so kind and awesome! I don't want to take away from how welcoming and nice everyone was. The service itself just lacked *at a Michelin star level*. If I was paying, say, $500 instead of $1500, I would be thrilled with the meal! The ambiance is very cool and true to the brand of The Inn. When you leave the bathroom, you'll see all of the historic guests who have eaten out of Patrick O'Connell's kitchen and it feels a bit surreal. The famous chef did his rounds of the dining room, which frankly was the highlight of the night. He's an absolute legend. Okay, that was a long one. To The Inn, I'm sorry! I wish we could say everything was perfection. I know you'll work out the kinks!
