Absolutely lacking. Went on a whim and regretted it almost immediately. Bland and overly greasy. Had to ask the waitress twice for hot sauce, and still didn't get it until I asked the manager. First things first. The service here is excellent! This is my go-to spot before class when I'm craving (Americanized) Mexican food. True, the building inside and out doesn't look like much, but this place does not disappoint. The chips and salsa are good (I would prefer a little more jalapeno and cilantro, but I know not everyone likes spicy salsa, so I really can't complain). I haven't tried everything on the menu, but the tacos al carbon are quite good, as are the burritos, tacos, rice, and enchiladas. I eat a lot of Mexican food.....and for your standard Mexican restaurant type food, everything I had was DELICIOUS! Chicken and shrimp fajitas that were seasoned perfectly and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Refried beans had really good flavor. The flan....SO good, not the oversweet weirdness you can get some places. You can really tell this place takes pride in the food they serve. I've come here several times because I live so close, and I've got to say this place is pretty terrible. The food is okay at best, but the service is atrocious. I think one of the waitress' has a personal vendetta against me but I'm not sure why? She is the slowest moving human being I've ever seen in my life and it seems like she absolutely hates her job. She always makes it seem like you're inconveniencing her by eating at the restaurant. My orders are wrong 75% of the time, and I never send them back back because I'm not picky and I'd rather not have my food spat in... Today was by far to the worst experience I've had here. The waitress got my order completely wrong, when she refilled my drink she took my drink, poured it out, laughed then walked away. (This is all done behind my back and my friend was narrating what she is doing) then I continued to wait not saying anything and she brings the Coke back 5 minutes later and laughs after I said thank you. It was the single most unprofessional thing I've ever seen. When she went to refill my friends water she walked slowly over to a tv, watched it in front of us for a solid 5 minutes and then went and got his water and didn't bring the lemon he asked for... Coming from two people that have worked as Server's it's embarrassing to watch such unprofessionalism on a consistent basis. I hate to poorly review a place but this has gone on long enough.... The larger woman with the bangs is by far the worst waitress I've ever experienced in my life. read more

To review El Ranchero, takes me back to a time long a go. Middle school. My mother used to take my brother and I there almost every week. I would get the same thing everytime, beef nachos haha. Have been here several times over the years,but haven't been here in awhile since I don't live nearby. In the area for a conference so took my staff with me for lunch. For lunch they were not busy and we still had bad service. He was the youngest server there. He seemed out of it and never checked on us. Just bad service. Food didn't taste as good as I remembered. Moreover, many Mexican customers patronized this establishment, so this is a real-deal Mexican restaurant. I just love this place. Lots of places are more expensive and fancier, but at El Ranchero you get what you came for. Solid, no frills, meat, beans and cheese. You start out with the bottomless bowl o chips and Coke. I don't know how but at some places Coke is better than others. Cokes are always good here. The food at El Rancheros is delicioso. The combos are at a great price and the drinks are also at a great price. The service is also incredible. When we go to El Ranchero in seems as if we are en familia, because that's how the people there make us feel. We also don't miss much of our food back in Mexico, because either way El Ranchero is just 5 minutes away. read more

Before ordering I asked the waiter if they accepted a coupon that I had. He said YES. When a less than friendly woman brought out our food more or less dropped it in front of us, she saw the coupon and said we don't accept those on Friday (even though it was 2 pm and they only had one other customer). I asked her to speak to the manager and she said OK and walked away. Later the waiter came back, and I again asked to speak to the manager. This time I was told that he had gone home and no one there was in charge. The food was fair at best, the service sucked, and their honesty was questionable, I will never go back to the one in Marietta and may well not even go back to the El Ranchero in Woodstock where I go frequently. read more
