I cannot thank this restaurant enough. With just 30 minutes' notice, they stepped up in an incredible way to save our event after another vendor completely bailed on us. We had over 60 guests, including police officers, expecting food -- and this amazing team made and delivered over 200 tacos, quesadillas, and more, all on the fly. The food was delicious, fresh, and clearly made with care -- but just as importantly, the staff was kind, fast, and unbelievably professional under pressure. After moving to the Pacific Northwest from San Diego, I haven't been able to find a place for good tacos. Today my search is finally over: el Ranchito Alegre is THE place. Little reminder: if you haven't had real Mexican food before, bring a friend who knows what to order for you. By no means el Ranchito Alegre is fancy; it's not an Americanized franchise where you could get crunchy tacos with ice berg lettuce. The food here makes your soul happy. The tacos we had were amazing. Seriously, writing about them make me want to go back and get more. My top three tacos are: adobada, chorizo, and carnitas. For $3, each taco came with a huge amount of meat. The adobada was so well seasoned, charred, and juicy. The carnitas were so delicious as well. Their tortilla is all handmade so it's very fresh; the texture is nothing but perfection. Each taco is made to order so do expect a little bit wait time. We will be back soon to try more food. I ordered the chicken enchiladas which came with refried beans and Mexican or Spanish rice along with 3 enchiladas. The flavors of the enchiladas were amazingly good and the tortillas were soft and tasty and covered with red sauce and cheese. My lunch was really well seasoned and a step above the more generic Mexican restaurants that I have been going to. The chicken in my enchiladas was just a bit too well cooked and a bit dry, but still the flavor was so good that I could ignore that. My service was fast and since this restaurant is part of a strip mall and maybe does a lot of take out business, don't go there expecting great ambiance. I will definitely go back again. I love authentic Mexican food & ingredients. I have had many dishes from this restaurant like the ribs in green salsa, tacos of pork rind in green salsa, taquitos, barbacoa, shrimp, etc. Also I once purchased Jarritos sodas and club soda (mineragua) because they are gluten free and use natural cane sugar and glass bottles. However, I recently went keto, so I have to modify my plates now to fit into low carb/high fat. Yesterday I stopped in and purchased chicharrón (pork rinds), ingredients for green salsa, queso fresco, avocado, and Mexican sour cream. I made this plate and topped with shredded cabbage. It was really good!!
