After having read reviews on this place, I decided to try it. Pulling up and seeing the front of the restaurant made me wonder if it was actually a restaurant. Don't let the outside confuse you like it did me. Walking in they had tables with booths and it looked like they had a second room that had a tv that was showing sports on it. Everyone that worked there was very friendly. We took our seats and were served chips and salsa, they both tasted okay, I do like my chips warm, these were not. The person I was with really liked them though, the salsa could've used more flavor for my taste. I ordered the Chile Verde Burrito. The server warned me the sauce was much more spicy that day, but I was happy to hear that. The carnitas was very flavorful and the verde sauce was just right for me. The tortilla it was wrapped in was very good too, I would've liked the cheese on top to be melted though. We are always looking for the best Mexican food. This place is close by our post office and we decided to give it a try for dinner. The prices are great, the service was great and the restaurant was nice. As soon as we got sat chips and salsa was set down for us (free might I add, no one does that anymore....) We decided to get burritos to test the flavor as it was our first time here... amazing decision. Rice and beans were perfect and the asada was soooo flavorful. I'm usually pretty picky with my asada so saying that means it was like family cooking it. The chicken was also delicious, it's cooked like chicken tinga and a little on the spicy side (really spicy if you don't like spicy) also on the wet side. I'll have to come back and get horchata to see how good that is and we will want to try more plates like the enchiladas. 10/10 for the taste, and service. read more

We were looking to branch out and look for authentic Hispanic food in the area and stumbled across this restaurant on our search. It's tucked right next to the USPS office in Downtown Tigard, I had no idea it's been open 10+ years. Our server was fantastic and knowledgeable. He educated us on specialty homestyle menu items special to the restaurant and was helpful about offering suggestions as they have quite a wide selection. After chatting through, I knew I wanted to go with specialties specific to the restaurant as different families pass down recipes. I love a good taco and tostada, but when I come into establishments like this, I am looking for a good homestyle meal. I went with the Camarónes a la Diabla, the spicier of the two identical shrimp plates since the server said their seafood is some of their best menu items. I was not disappointed. It was tossed in a garlic flavorful spicy sauce, with mushrooms. Instead of beans, I asked for a salad which was nice to have as I used the homemade corn tortillas (so good) to build shrimp tacos with rice. I did not need additional sauce. The sautéed fish packed good flavor and a nice spice kick. It was refreshing, as I am a die hard carne asada kind of gal. The price turned me off a little bit until the plate came out cause their portions are HUGE! My husband got the bistek camarones and a tamale and both were great as well. We were so impressed by the service and food here. Looking forward to coming back and tackling some more menu items off the homestyle menu. read more

I was expecting a 2-3 Star Yelp review. To my surprise the taste and portion of our entrees were 4-Star worthy. The Camarones A La Diabla, a family recipe, was delicious. Opt for a split homemade corn/flour tortilla mix. The Pambazo w/milanesa (a seared torta covered in enchilada sauce) was more than decent. Unfortunately, I wasn't keen on their style of fries which had that very light tempura-like coating. Lastly, the Chavideca will be a repeat order. The fresh pineapple mojito was ample. Our young 30s male server was attentive and FRIENDLY. Parking is very easy. Definitely coming back. read more

This place is amazing. First of all, the service is outstanding. The owner and his crew take care of us like we are their beloved grandparents. We each have our own salsa dish with the chips. Water is brought out immediately because old people get thirsty! They listen to us. Bring out the food fresh and piping hot. My husband loves crispy tacos and you can't find them just anywhere. But here you get them with your choice of any meat. Not just the standard ground beef, pulled beef or chicken. And you can have them alone or as a meal with rice and beans! And they have a second crispy taco which is actually an empanada but so light and crispy it is more like a puff pastry. Oh my gosh. It is to die for. And there are so many other delicious choices. The menu is extensive. They know we can't finish our meal so a box for takeout is often offered before we have even begun eating. I like that. Helps me pace myself knowing that box is ready for anything I can't finish. And they never hurry us. There are many big screens surrounding the two dining areas and if you love fútbol then your bases are covered....so to speak! Where has this place been since I moved up here???? Whoever I spoke with Monday evening for the to go order has made me the most loyal customer ever. Patience, sense of humor and knowledge are just a few things that could describe him. I will get his name later because we NEED to know the name of the last dish he recommended. He kept it a secret so we could be "surprised" and we were surprised. To start I got the original burrito for my kids to share, the meat we got was chicken. I didn't think much of it because usually a simple burrito is no big deal, but when I took a bite of what came out of the burrito when I cut it in half for my kids I was FLOORED. How could a chicken burrito be THAT good? I was contemplating giving my kids something else. Then came the salsa verde burrito. I don't usually like carnitas but I literally slapped my knee it was so good. The taco salad was also delightful but not as jaw dropping as the 2 burritos. And finally our secret dish that we still don't know the name of. It was perfection. It was beautiful, I wish it didn't end. My 5 year old son ended up finishing half of the original burrito AND half of the salsa verde burrito. And these burritos were ADULT SIZED... like they were huge. My 2 year old finished an entire half of the original burrito and I honestly thought I bought enough so I'd have left overs for lunch the next day but I couldn't believe how overstuffed we made ourselves in order to keep eating (and we NEVER do that). The service was exceptional! I have a severe allergy to the spice cumin and when I called they were extremely kind and welcoming and took my request very seriously. They apologized for the delayed response (which was only about 2 minutes) because the chef had to call his sister to who prepares some of the ingredients to make sure it was safe for me to eat. When we got there we were greeted and seated and had the most genuine server who made great conversation, explained some of the authentic items on the menu that we were unfamiliar with. In addition, our server was consistently checking in to update us on the arrival of our food and if we neeeded anything else. The chips & salsa AND guacamole were amazing and my boyfriend and I were both raving about the hand made tortillas... I'm drooling just thinking about them We also shared 2 delicious skinny margaritas. Service was 10/10 and the food was delicious with generous portion sizes! Highly recommend! read more

If I could give a place 10 stars I would. Really this place is top notch. I came here about a year ago for lunch and I remember telling my boyfriend about these amazing crispy Al Pastor tacos. Finally as new neighbors of the neighborhood we got to try them together for our first night at our new apt. Definitely after moving you work up such an appetite and this hit the spot on so many levels. We ordered the Asada chimichanga and the Al Pastore crispy tacos along with two pacificos with lime. The chimichanga was perfectly crispy and the rice and beans with the cotija cheese on top was amazing. The Al Pastore was perfectly marinated with that deliciously sweet savory taste. This is definitely going to be one of our monthly dinner nights out. I already told my friends about this place and I hope that more and more people get to joy this perfect hole in the wall but awesome service and awesome restaurant. We have been frequenting the restaurant for close to 6 months now and have yet to get a mediocre meal. The dining area is pretty brightly lit, and it's easy for them to become full and have a wait. If this happens, it's totally worth the wait! Those would be my only sticking points, but it doesn't warrant losing a star because the food is worth 5 stars on its own. read more
