    Carnitas tacos with hot sauce
    Ursula O.

A solid no for me. I have always been curious to stop in this cute little town for some tacos and well, I finally got the chance to stop, I just wish it was good. The outside is a colorful red & green. You pull up into a gravel parking lot and walk right in. Before covid days, there is indoor seating to dine in. Now, there are a couple places to sit to wait for your food for take out. Everyone was really nice. From the young man at the register to the owners working near by, I was excited to get some good food passing through. As you can see in my picture, they are double shelled corn tortillas, carnitas, lettuce, hot sauce, cilantro & onion. I like a good hot sauce.. well, these tacos were a fail. They were bland and the meat had absolutely no flavor. All I could taste was their hot sauce, so I pulled off the lettuce that was covered in the hot sauce and that's when I discovered the old meat in the tacos. It was only after I took a bite of just the meat did I taste how sour it was. The color was pale as well (yes, I am a chef, I know what spoiled food looks and now tastes like). Horrible part...? I ate at least 1 full taco after realizing the reason it didn't taste good is because the meat was old. Curiosity killed this cat.

Flavor on top of flavor! Absolutely delicious breakfast or lunch! Authentic and worth the drive to this place if you can find your way to the valley. Highly recommend the machaca for breakfast or the Burria or the carnitas for lunch!

Tasty treats. The hot chili verde was hot just how i like it. Small dining area. Looks like it used to be a gas station.

Tried two other places in downtown Shasta but both were packed and we did not want to wait - glad we did not! La Perla is adjacent to a bar and has an old school vibe. The decor is diner-esque but interesting. They offer self-serve chips, salsa and soft drinks (the latter for a price). Food portions are generous and very tasty, we all loved our food. My partner had a jalapeño margarita which was extraordinary. Cherry on top was our amazing server - she was extremely nice, prompt and accommodating. A pleasure all around. Highly recommended!

We wanted to make reservations for dinner on a Thursday but no one answered the phone. We decided to head over to the restaurant a few minutes before we planned to dine with friends only to discover they weren't open and a hand lettered writing on the door said they were closed Thursdays and Sundays. We did return the next evening, now knowing that they would be open on Friday. The restaurant shares an entryway with a popular bar. It was amusing watching people enter the main door and then turn one way or the other to enter a business, only to realize they want the other door. I saw a few families with little kids start towards the bar and then turn to the restaurant. Groups in motorcycle jackets did the reverse. A signboard at the entrance to the restaurant invites customers to choose a table and then help themselves to chips and salsa. My husband and I split an entrée and it was more then enough for the both of us. Portion sizes are generous. The food was very good. Much better than Casa Ramos or Puerto Vallarta. If you want Mexican food in Mount Shasta, stay away from those chains and go to La Perla for a much better meal at reasonable prices to boot. We enjoyed the background music, with songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, The Proclaimers.

What a gem in Klamath Falls - Excellent service, food and ambience!…read more Decided to have dinner at 7:30pm on Sunday night; Girasol is located at the southern end of "restaurant row/main street." Quiet background music lends to the friendly atmosphere, enhancing the Hispanic decor. Crispy warm chips with beans and salsa were brought out immediately. Our server took our drink orders, and had them at the table within 5 minutes. The margaritas we ordered were delicious, and generously sized. Our server answered our menu questions so we could decide on our meal. We decided to try the albóndigas and side salad to start, and split the Fajitas Gigante. Albóndigas comes in 1 size, approximately 12 oz of a tasty tomato based broth and 4 hand-formed meatballs, roughly 1.5 inches in diameter. There were carrots, too, but no other vegetables. I'm used to a heartier version from a different region, so for me, the soup was unexpected. The broth and meatballs had a very nice flavor, though, so still worth a taste! The side salad consisted of chopped iceberg, some tomato, and shredded cheese. It was bigger than I anticipated, so that was a pleasant surprise! The fajitas came out on a sizzling, cast iron platter, looking and smelling amazingly good! I'm sorry I forgot to take a photo. My husband and I split a single order, and ended up bringing half of it back to the hotel. It tasted delicious. Everything was well seasoned, though the carnitas was a little too wet for my liking. (It was more like a pulled pork sandwich consistency, without any smoke bark.) That's just a personal preference, though. What was so great about the platter was that each protein had a distinct flavor! I've had mixed protein platters where everything tastes like it was seasoned with the same bottle of pre-mixed spices, and this is NOT that. The carnitas was subtle, and contrasted with the steak, which differed from the chicken. The shrimp was different from all of it, with more of a citrus and garlic profile. We were too full to order dessert, so we'll have to return on our next road trip!
