This is my first time here. Pretty decent place. The lunch crowd is fairly scarce at 2 PM on a Friday. I ordered the nachos, half chicken and half beef. They were pretty good. I would have liked a bit more sour cream and guacamole. I forgot to add jalapeños. The Negra Modelo is served cold! The food came out fast as well as the beer. We just moved here from out of town and wanted to find good mexican food in Kingsport, TN. I placed our order and was told it would take 10 minutes. I asked for cheese dip and I asked for no red sauce on my wife's food, as she is allergic to it. 30 minutes later, I got our food. There was red sauce on my wife's food and there was NO cheese dip, but was charged for it. The service definitely needs improvement! The waitress do not write down your order and get annoyed when you tell them they brought you the wrong thing. The quality of the food is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's wonderful. Sometimes it's awful. You never know what you're going to get! The manager has the worst attitude he does not take criticism well and is very argumentative. There was nothing horrible about our experience. There was nothing excellent either. Everything was serviceable. It is a step above Taco Bell. However. it is one of those places that uses the same spice in everything. I like to try a combo plate the first time in a Mexican restaurant to suss this out. it the taco, enchilada, and burrito all have the same filling you know you're not in a top tier joint. Another problem was that the server/cooks don't seem to know the menu very well. They didn't bring some of what the menu said came with a meal. Then we were charged extra for asking for it. The manager had to be called to remove it from the bill. They were not hostile or accommodating about this, just perfunctory. I guess that is better than being derided though. On one plate there was something that wasn't mentioned in the menu. Go here if it's close and convenient. If you're going to make a drive anyway there's better choices close by. read more

Arrived at 215pm on Sunday 3/6. Placed order and received food pretty quick. server brought ticket after we had eaten and he had keyed in meal as full meal instead of lunch portion that I had pointed out to him when I ordered. We went to pay and manager on duty said we had to say something before to get price fixed. I told him I don't how in the hell we were supposed to know it was overcharged before we seen the ticket. No response given except he would fix it "this time." This place has some good dishes ; however it's not consistemy. One time the salsa will be good and thick but the next time its runny. This was my first time going here. It seemed crowded but we were still seated quickly. Our drinks and food came out surprisingly fast. It was all in less than thirty minutes. The salsa was good but very average. The chips were hard and not great. The food definitely made up for it. I got the Chimichanga which came out great. Everything had great flavor. I have a ate here probably 10 times in the past year and I keep trying to give it a chance, but this place is awful! The food, the service. Every item I have ordered was just bad. Fajitas seasoned so much they have a paste on them and they don't even come out sizzling, they come room temp yet cooked to a gristley crisp? And all of the waitresses are bad, except the one guy. The girls always seem irritated, never right down your order and never bring you what you ask for. I had to ask 3 times for the waitress to bring me what I asked for and every time she just stared at me like i was inconveniencing her, then kept bringing me the wrong thing. Chips taste stale and the cheese dip has no flavor and is the consistency of water. Don't waste your time here. read more

My husband ordered a rice and shrimp dinner with cheese sauce to go. It was kind of like Amigos polo loco. This was our 1st time eating here. The portion size was laughable. I've never seen such micro portions. There was hardly a smell of cheese on it. These dishes at other restaurants are usually floating in cheese. The taste of the food was good, but when I see a restaurant is being sooooo cheap I'm done!! The floor of the container was about the size of a small saucer. I looked up reviews on Google and found mostly glowing reviews. I've always found in life if I am not happy with something usually many other people feel the same. Also, after I read the owners smart comments to the people like me that simply told the truth, I was that much more determined to get the word out. If no stars where available I would have selected that option. I brought my family here to eat and me and my fiancé requested no onions on our food. When our food came out it had onions on it and we asked to have it remade. The waitress sent her manager and he was a smart ass about the food only having a little bit of onions on it. i told him I wanted it replaced and he agreed to have it remade. When the second plate came out it was also full of onion. The manager was a dick again and said it was only a few and the onions where almost the size of my knife. This place is great if you want to be charged for more items than you order or want cold food! Called in today and placed an order for a co-worker and I for TWO taco salads and a nacho supreme. Was charged for three salads and who knows what else honestly. Used to love this restaurant but ate there after they opened back up from the virus and they had changed their menu. The food was not good at all and our fave menu items had disappeared. My son used to love the Mexican cheeseburger which is not on the menu now, however, the waitress claimed another burger was the same one so he ordered it and it was a flat hard piece of meat on stale bread. I had the grilled tilapia lunch today. This is basically a very well performed Tilipia fajita meal. Mostly healthy meal (except for the fried rice). I visited this restaurant for the first (and last) time today at approximately 5 p.m. There were about 5 or 6 other tables when we came in and it didn't seem busy at all. My mother-in-law ordered a cheese steak (not sure on the exact name) and mostly enjoyed it other than it being a bit too salty. My wife ordered a cheese burrito that she describes as 'alright'. So far no big issues. I, unfortunately, ordered shredded chicken nachos that were immediately disappointing just by looking at them. To say they were conservative with the portion would be putting it mildly when compared to the same dish at other restaurants and the plate was covered in splattered grease and generally looked like someone had gotten sick on the plate. I tried it anyway just to give it a chance. I was met with chips that somehow both tasted burned and yet were soggy coupled with chicken that looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. At this point I decided to send it back and maybe get something else. After 10 minutes of trying to flag down our server, I finally got the attention of a different server and asked her to take it back. Instead she said she had to check, walked over to a different table, and then came back and said she'd get our server. When he came up, I said that the food was not good and asked if he would take it back and remove it from the check. He walked away and a few minutes later came back with our check despite never asking if I wanted anything to replace it, forcing me to just sit and watch everyone else eat. At no point did he ask me what was wrong with the dish and left so quickly I had no chance to say anything. We all examined the check, trying to see if we were charged for the nachos and it looked like we weren't, so I was somewhat placated. We go pay and after the bill is settled I asked him when would be a good time to call and speak with a manager, thinking that they should be aware of both the service and food issues. He first told me no, that I had to talk to him and asked why I wanted to speak to a manager so I told him, rather incredulously, that it was because the service was not good and of course the food wasn't great. He then begins arguing with me and refuses to give me either a phone number or a time to call. I look at him, at this point just completely shocked at what's happening, and say "Really!?". To which he replies "Yes, really!" mocking my tone of voice. I stand there and try to reason with him and try to let him know that I'm not the kind of person who normally complains; I've only done it 2 other times in my life. We'd already paid the bill, so it's not as if we were trying to get something for free or anything. He continues dismissing my every word until finally I turn around to the rest of the restaurant and say, loudly, "this is the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life" (and I've had to deal with Comcast for hours on the phone). As I turned, I saw that he suddenly had his cell phone in his hand and my wife later informed me that he'd taken a picture of me before I turned around. He makes another remark and I immediately leave, completely flabbergasted. After leaving, I looked up the number and called, once again asking to speak to a manager. He recognized my voice and says he's going to call the cops on me if I continue trying to make a complaint. How ridiculous can you possibly be!? I hope the owner of this restaurant is able to see this review since apparently trying to speak to them directly will result in having the cops called on you. I sincerely hope that the waiter is fired as he completely stepped over the line. Because of 1 employee on a power trip, I can assure you that I will never be anywhere near this restaurant again and will advise others (including my sister-in-law who eats there with Granny regularly) to avoid this place like the plague. read more

We have eaten at El Ranchito located at 4368 W Stone Drive many times and have always had wonderful food and service. On 08/29/2015 was the last visit because of how a customer with a 'Service Dog' was refused service. How sad -- they even had a hand written a notice that states 'No Pets Allowed' as soon as you walk through the door. To refuse service to anyone with a disability is against Federal Laws and I hope the restaurant will make some changes. Until then, we will not eat there!!! I did give my phone number to the visually challenged friend and I hope I get a call. Would love to take these ladies out to eat where the 'Service Dog' is allowed. read more

I have been going this restaurant since it had opened the food is probably the better mexican food in the area. HOWEVER there had been many times in the past that one day I'll order something and order the same thing a week later and it would be a different price. This doesn't happen much anymore. The service is still not great. One employee has denied us service due to "them being closed" but all of their open signs were on. The same employee grunted when we asked if he could set a high chair up for a baby somewhere else than where he was going to and responded with a strong attitude. I'm not a picky person when it comes to food or service but this is no way to get a decent tip. read more

Very nice people. We are from out of town and came to eat just minutes before closing, not even realizing they were ready to close until well after we were seated because they were so friendly. Typically you get that 'wtf are you doing here, I'm ready to go home' face when you walk in somewhere right before closing time and these guys didn't do that. And the food was awesome.
