Came here as I was craving some Mexican food, let me tell you, this place was busy on a Sunday. There were lots of families in their Sunday best enjoying a meal together. Staff and service are very friendly and will always greet with, "Hola!" - I'm a little out of practice with my Spanish, but I do enjoy a warm greeting in español. Because I was dining alone, my dish came out very quickly. Chips and salsa to start and then I had a chicken Chimichanga served with rice and beans. Food was tasty and the serving generous portion. I wish I had room to try a dessert - well maybe next time. The setting had a great Mexican vibe from the decor, the music, and of course, Fútbol on the monitors (yay!); it's was pre-season for Men's and of course, the Women's World Cup - how could they not have it on? Was in Kingsport for the day and wanted Mexican, saw this place was highly rated on Yelp. When we walked in it had a nice vibe, well decorated. Immediately could see them making guacamole up front so we had to order that. Wow was that amazing. I got the Molcajete and my grandma got a quesadilla, we were both very impressed. One of the worst I've ever had) Enchiladas - 1.5/5 (the meat was decent but the sauce was bad) Rice - 1/5 (not much better than microwave rice) Charo beans - 2.5/5 (slightly smoke, lots of chipotle) Very unhappy with the meal. OMG!!! This place is amazing! We just went here over the weekend and everything is soooo fresh and delicious. Over all everything is good - except one thing. I am a bit of a traditionalist - I love new styles of food but I do think that there are certain things that should not change. The food was mediocre at best with dry food all around, so i was really begging for my crab legs to be good. Upon the arrival i was shocked by a giant plate of 20 legs when the menu said 4 so i was thinking in my head that surely the "market value"-this is the scammy tactic of them getting past the legal system while lying about number of legs- of said crab legs was like 15-20 dollars i even got less food so i could also eat these crab legs with my meal hopefully only being around $30 to not charge my mother that much money, KEEP IN MIND THESE THINGS ARE AN APPETIZER! When i got the check, the legs were $50 with no price tag on the menu with the menu again saying "4 crab legs" so if you ever go to this scammy and mediocre "restaurant" please never order anything that does not have a price tag, my single mother is now out of all her money for the bills due to the menu saying "4 crab legs" at "market value" instead of being honest about the price. They knew too that if they told anyone truthfully about the quantity and the price no one would order the crab legs, so they found a way to legally scam customers. Up in Kingsport, TN visiting family over the 4th of July and this is their Mexican restaurant that they swear by... I ate here twice during my 7 day visit and found both visits to very pleasing!! My first visit I enjoyed the Carne Asade and the 2nd visit I went with a mix of enchiladas (Chicken, shredded Pork and ground Beef) covered in their Salsa Verde... Both meals were delicious!!! They have a nice offering of cervezas both in the bottle and on tap as well. Can't comment on the margaritas as I do not drink them. However, my cousin and his wife LOVE them. SO I'll take their word on that topic. The regular salsa that they provide with chips upon being seated could be a bit more sparky but it ain't a deal breaker. However, the red or green tomatillo sauce you can request is some kinda fiery!!! Love that tomatillo sauce!!! Also apparently this IS the Mexican place to be in Kingsport as I was told they are so swamped for Cinco de Mayo they have started having to run a week long event to accommodate the crowds!! They have a nice covered outdoor seating area and service was friendly and quick. I have no hesitation in dining here again if and when I am back in Kingsport and would recommend it to anyone seeking a Mexican restaurant in the area. read more

Margarita was great and I again was hopeful of meal to come. My standard first order at any mexican restaurant is a taco/cheese enchalada combo and sorry to report another disappointing meal. Taco meat is simply cooked ground beef, there may have been some salt and pepper used when cooking but no other spices...hello, MEXICAN food is expected. Cheese enchalada tasted like processed cheese rolled up in a tortilla. Refried beans that came with meal was like baby food, no seasoning, simply mush. The ONLY redeeming part of the meal was the rice. I have lived in CA, AZ, and NM where good mexican food is not hard to find. Great food! Stopped in on a Saturday night and the parking lot was packed. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and there was a DJ out back who had a bubble machine and was especially great at keeping kids happy while parents could enjoy some drinks and conversation. My kid wanted pizza or pasta instead of Mexican classics- and the kids meal options gave her just what she wanted. My partner got the Rajas which had a great creamy sauce. I got assorted tacos a la parilla- all good but the fish (seared on the grill) was sooooo good I wish I had more. Like, I'd eat more right now for breakfast. In our hunt to find an 'authentic' Mexican style restaurant, we got a recommendation to come here. We have spent a few weeks every year around Ensenada while we lived in So. California and got very spoiled. Santa Fe is good 'gringo' style - much better than many (almost all) of the Mexican style restaurants in the TRI-Cities area. It still has some improvements that can be made. I ordered the Cazuelon and my wife ordered the Fajitas. The salsa that comes with the chips is tasty, but we did have to kick it up a bit. The first thing I try when judging a Mexican restaurant (no matter where I go) is the beans. They should be more than beans out of a can, and have a good taste. These tasted bland, but some added habanero sauce kicked it up. The steak was very well seasoned, the chicken was a tad dry but good tasting. The chorizo/onions topping was good. My wife said her fajitas were bland. I gave her a sample of my steak and she wished it tasted like that. Still good, but could have been better. Our server seemed rushed and was acting as if she may have been upset with someone. Even so, she attended us well and we were never lacking for refills. My Enchiladas Camerones was fine, but my husband's Molcajetes bowl, which he had eaten many times before, was a total insult. The bowl was only about half full, and to "fill it out", they had inserted 2 HOT DOGS, sliced lengthwise, along with long slices of zucchini. Just to make sure our eyes weren't deceiving us, we asked the waiter, who verified that these were indeed hot dogs. This dish is not supposed to have hot dogs in it, it is one of the pricier items on their menu, so to say this was unacceptable is an understatement. We will never be back. Let me just start off by saying I've never had a bad experience at this place until today. I came in and was immediately asked if my service dog was a "service dog". When I replied with yes we got seated and it was going fine until the main manager came to our table. He asked me for proof that my dog was a service dog and to see any identification for the dog. When I told him I didn't have my papers on me as they were in the car he proceeded to tell us we needed to go sit outside due to a "new protocol" that started. According to Tennessee state law public places are prohibited from asking you questions about your disability or from asking for certification regarding your service dog. After this experience I won't be coming back. He was very rude and I tried to be understanding but no restaurant as ever made me move to the BACK area of the outside sitting. This will possibly go into a court case as I wish this no one else and hopefully it'll fix this "new protocol" they have. read more

If I'm ever back in Kingsport this will be my first stop. The Mexican burrito blew my mind. Their molé was the most flavorful thing I had the entire week I stayed in Kingsport. I ordered extra for the second burrito I took to go.
