Decided to try this eatery and was pleasantly surprised. Good flavors and nice owner. Salvadoran homemade food straight from kitchen-nothing pre done and cooked fresh. Worth a try!

Exterior of Latin Love Kitchen in Downtown Kingsport!

A family owned restaurant, owners Leroy and his wife have an obvious love for the community and are proud to share and to serve El Salvadorian / Costa Rican dishes in downtown Kingsport, TN. I've visited here a couple of times and have been so pleased and happy with the selections! From what I learned pupusas are handmade corn cakes (kinda looks like a thick tortilla) but filled with a selection of various filling offered from their menu. Because the pupusas are made from corn, they are gluten-free. I've tried the mixed combo filling (cheese, beans and fried pork), chicken, and chicharron. All have NOT disappoint! The pupusas are served with a side of Curtido, which is a tangy topping for your pupusas made of pickled cabbage, carrots, non-hot peppers. It is SOOO delicious!! I recommend asking for an extra one!! Yes, it's THAT good! The scenery inside is colorful and spacious between parties. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer to people watch while dining. Everyone at the restaurant is so friendly and helpful if you aren't familiar with the cuisine. They are happy to explain the dishes. And because it's family owned, members of the family are part of the hospitality and operations. They are an amazing part of the community! Can't recommend this location enough!

Absolutely Amazing food. Had the Papusas and Tamale. Many many more things I will be trying. Price is great, food is great, service is excellent, and the owners are extremely friendly. Highly recommend!

Went for the three papusa platter: got cheese, bean and a chicken. A papusa is such a unique experience: like a tortilla and a Arepa combined. The cheese one is super good (I think that one is my constant). I got bean this time and chicken and next time I will expand out, with cheese as my constant. Service is always wonderful: the owner is a gem to talk to. And the Latin ambiance makes it fun (even though all the music is about Latin Love Kitchen), which is cute. The Latin slaw they make is addictive: I may buy a pint to go next time.

Welcome to a little taste of Costa Rica and Salvador in downtown Kingsport. From the moment we walked in, the owner talked with us. Seat yourself, order from the menu. We tried their Papusa's, empanadas, and tamal. Ordered some with chicken and some with beef. All is delicious. Next time I will get just papusa's. They are the most delicious and unique food. The walls are decorated with colorful Latin American photos and objects. Very welcoming environment.

This is an amazing restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They make you feel like part of the family. The food was cooked fresh when we ordered it. It came out hot and delicious. Definitely my new favorite restaurant. I liked that even though it was very busy it wasn't loud. My sister does not enjoy loud noises. And she was very happy eating there with .

    Colombian Empanadas.

We ordered too much food eating here the first time but it was very good for lunch the next day. After eating the chicken Papusa i was told the slaw is put on top. These Colombian empanadas were good too. We also had Tostones and Chicharron. The service was excellent. It's a nice restaurant in downtown Kingsport.

Homemade authentic Latin food is an explosion of vibrant flavors, with mixed choices of southern food. Cozy, homy... I was impress to learn that they had a trained chef on staff. Savory pupusas filled with perfectly seasoned flavors and fresh ingredients. Classics meals as well as empanadas: with a crispy exterior with a warm, flavorful filling that transports me straight to Latin America. Ending with the sweetness of tres leches cake made you realized you just had a great meal. If you haven't tried it yet, you're in for a delicious experience!

Located along Market near University, it's in the old The Cottage building. The bright green sign…read moreout front is easy to see. Parking is tight in front with only a few spaces. Since they are angled, you can only get to the ones near the entrance you use. There is a lot more parking behind the building. I didn't notice specific handicapped spaces, but you'll want to park in front if you have mobility issues. We entered through the front door. The foyer is brightly lit and colorful. We were greeted on entering and told we could sit anywhere. There is seating on either side, as well as down several steps to the bar area, which also has booth seating. The tables are closely spaced, so it would be difficult to maneuver if it was crowded but we were the only customers on our side. Initially, the background music was rather loud, so we picked a spot away from speakers. The music was later turned down to a manageable level. Our server came for our drink order right away. FYI, they did not have unsweet tea. He returned with our drinks quickly, but we needed more time to decide what we wanted to order. The menu is a mix of Honduran, Salvadoran, and Mexican. Most items are explained on the menu, but we also had to ask our server about several items. We decided on the Tajadas con Pollo (plantains with chicken), the Baleadas Especialies (sort of a burrito but folded instead of rolled), and an order of pupusas (pork and cheese, jalapeno and cheese, and loroco, a salvadoran flower). The Tajedas con pollo was a full plate of food. The protein was about a 1/3 section of chicken on a bed of plantains. There was also slaw and a nice pico. Although the chicken was a bit dry, the flavor was excellent. The plantains were nicely cooked, and the pico had a solid spicy bite. The Baleadas Especiales comes folded in a large tortilla, although the tortilla has a different consistency than a typical Mexican-style tortilla. It is more robust and takes a knife to cut if you want to eat it that way. Otherwise, just pick it up like a burrito. I selected beef as the protein, and it was excellent. Fillings also included avocado and a scrambled egg. This was more than filling, and very tasty. The pupusas were wonderful as well. The pork and jalapeno fillings were flavorful. The loroco was interesting. It had a veggie taste, but with a more earthy flavor. I would certainly order this again. We also found they have a drive through along the side of the building. There is also an entrance there as well, so if you park in the rear you do not need to come to the front of the building to enter. This restaurant is a great addition to the Johnson City restaurant scene. The flavors are different from the typical Mexican spices. The menu is definitely worth exploring.

Always good. Service has gone down hill since they opened by the food is excellent. Get the tacos…read moredorados; they are like flauntas topped with slaw and a sauce. The papusas are huge!
