We were looking for Mexican after driving around the area. We saw where this was now El Patron and as we were passing the Food City we saw it and decided to give it a try. We were greeted with smiling eyes (since she had on a mask) and friendly demeanor. It wasn't very crowded so she told us to sit anywhere. They brought us 2 bowls of salsa. It was just ok- almost plain tomato sauce. They need to spice it up a little bit. Our friend wanted a margarita but they only serve beer. We wanted guacamole Mexicano but they were out of avocados. It's not looking good at this point. (They were VERY apologetic about it). Both of us couples ordered Pechuga Chicken to split. It came quickly and was very hot. We both ordered it with the cheese sauce on the side because we didn't want it saturated. We all really enjoyed the meal. It was delicious. If we're in this area again and craving Mexican we would probably eat here again. read more

I ordered the tamale and the Carnitas en Salsa Verde. Unfortunately, both were very disappointing. The tamale was extremely salty, and I honestly don't understand all the extra toppings and ingredients piled around it. I was expecting a traditional tamale wrapped in a corn husk, not one covered with random toppings and unnecessary extras. The presentation and flavor just didn't work for me, and I would not order it again. The carnitas was okay, but again, very disappointing. Salsa verde means green sauce, and this was definitely not a green sauce--it was red. They do use tomatillos, which may be why they consider it "verde," but that's not what I would expect when ordering carnitas en salsa verde or chile verde. I was specifically expecting the traditional green chile-based sauce. Overall, neither dish was what I expected, and unfortunately, I wouldn't order either one again. read more

I was hungry one morning when a friend told me about "The Ugly Duckling". Let me tell you, NOTHING is ugly about this place. I got my food within five minutes! The place also smelt and looked incredible, with a perfect setting. The second I put a spoon full of food in my mouth it was a flavor explosion!! My soul literally jumped out of my body and flew to heaven. This food made me meat actual GOD, and NO I'm not kidding. I even gave him a bite and he said it was INCREDIBLE. I never thought I'd live to see my future layed out beautifully in a plate of food. I can't wait to have children so I can take them here. I want my weeding dinner to also be here. I want ...no... I was having a TERRIBLE day and I was craving fajita nachos and I saw this place down the street and I walked inside and they automatically gave me a warm welcome and sat me to a table the service was incredible they took my drink order and they had it out quickly and they asked what I would like to eat and I told them I wanted the fajita nachos and when they brought out the fajita nachos they were a huge amount for a good price and I took a bite and my TERRIBLE day was fixed and it was amazing I almost went straight to heaven of how good they were I definitely recommend this for families with kids there Is plenty of choices and I will definitely come again! read more

This excellent small town restaurant is now the El Patron restaurant. Same location, at the Food City shopping center, but better quality and service. For lunch my party got the enchiladas, huevos con chorizo, and chicken fajitas nachos. Very impressed with the quality, generous servings, and price. Everything was fresh except for the refried beans which were bland. Recommend that you add the chorichorizo dip--great value and the chips were fairly good. In this COVID times, masks were required for entry and staff wore masks except for one who sorta wore a mask. Tables were separated and sanitizers were all around. Generally felt safe. read more

I've lived here for 7 years and only ordered from here 3 times. All 3 times there was an issue. They forgot my sides that I ordered. Mixed up our order with someone else's and most importantly they used beef instead of the chicken I ordered. Two issues with the beef: 1. It was not thoroughly cooked and 2. I have an Alpha-gal allergy! I cannot eat mammal meat that's why I ordered the chicken specifically. ...good thing I had my epi-pen and that the hospital is as close as it is. I wonder if they'll at least reimburse my $700 for having to use my epi-pen --ya know, since they refused to refund my $10 meal. read more

The staff are fantastic! It's food... If your starving. I miss Mexican food. It's honestly not that good. Bland at best. That the same people own all three Mexican restaurants in the area is a crime. Flavor would be a good place to start. Maybe they're afraid to offend the pallets of the locals... I don't know, but it's not authentic or tasty at all. If you want to taste a spice, it's hiding in the bottle of hot sauce on the table, and you could have bought it yourself at the grocery store next door. What's crazy is that there was better Mexican food in Utah... Who could have guessed? Not sure I'll go back... If you twist my arm, maybe. But I'm still on the lookout for a good Mexican food place and will drive the miles. read more

Out of the two Mexican restaurants in town, this one is better. Their guacamole is better, and the food is better.

Excellent food and always quality service. Easily the best Mexican cuisine in Hawkins County. Worth a visit!

This is only the second time I've eaten here and the food was just as good as I remember. I got the chicken fajita quesadilla and the combination of the fajita mixture, cheese and fried shell was really good. It's the first time I've had this dish and it is my new favorite. My dinner companion got nachos and she said her dish was very good as well. Our food arrived quickly and was warm and delicious. The sweet tea was very good.
