They have the best tres leches cake ever! I always order from here for birthday's and what not. I am extremely picky and they always do a great job of giving you exactly what you want.

There are a few other bakeries in Pico Rivera that have been in the city for more than 20 years,but this bakery by far makes the best pan dulce in the city. My family and I use to go to the other long established bakeries but, unfortunately the bread isn't what it use to be. El Rey is a family owned business that has been making fresh bread for the past 25 years. You can always find Rey (the owner) or his brother making fresh bolillo and pan dulce in the morning. If you're in the mood for some delicious bread and want to support a local business, stop by this spot, trust me you won't regret it!

Sadly this place was disappointing at best. At worst a waste of money. My husband isn't schooled I now to buy Mexican sweet bread so he found this place to surprise me with some. Sadly they saw a sucker immediately. The bread was stale. Not just a little stale either. Stiff and falling apart. He felt awful but it wasn't his fault. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Who sells stale bread to a NEW customer? Someone who isn't looking to make new customers. read more

5/5 stars! They had such a great selection it was hard to not go overboard and get one of everything. It was absolutely delicious. The owner was there and is incredible kind. Also, very clean kitchen. Would absolutely recommend this bakery. read more

I've lived in the area for a while so I'm not sure how I never knew about this place, it's probably one of the best pan dulce bakeries in town! The mini conchas and cuernos "croissants" are nice and soft + tasty . Definitely will come back to try their other pastries. read more

I always say once is a fluke but 2 - 3 times is consistency. I came to this place two weeks ago for the first time looking for pan dulce for my co-workers and I became an instant hero in the office. Now I've been here 3 times and each time they deliver the same result. Friendly, humble people at the counter, fresh quality, and great taste. This place is the definition of "the spot". My only regret is that it took me 3 years of living in Pico Rivera to find a legit bakery. read more

Came in late in the day after work, checked this place out based on yelp reviews. The man behind the counter was very helpful and pleasant. By this time of day, there weren't a lot of choices but he recommended 3 kinds of breads for me to try. It didn't disappoint! I will be back for mor e. Happy to find this place. read more

If you live in Pico Rivera and have not been to this place, you are missing out. Everything is made from scratch and this place has been around forever. I'm treated like family even though I'm what many would consider an outsider. This is really the on place I go if I have a sweet tooth or want fresh bread. The coffee is always fresh too read more

My favorite thing to eat especially in this cold weather is pan dulce (even tho my doctor says not to). I was driving down Beverly when I saw El Rey Bakery. I'm a big supporter on small businesses so I gave it a shot. Boy! Was i glad I did. I was immediately welcomed and delighted with the smell of fresh pan dulce. The owner and his wife were super helpful and definitely made an impression. I can't rave enough to my family and friends about this bakery. I'm here 1-3 times a week! Highly recommend this business to anyone in the area. 10/10 read more

Came here because my wife was in search of a slice of tres leches cake. After going to several bakeries in the neighborhood that didn't have tres leches slices available, we found this little bakery. The guy at the front was super nice and helpful. I wish more small businesses had good customer service like this place. Other places almost look annoyed that you walked in. We bought a slice of tres leches and a slice of flan and they were both delicious. This will definitely be our go-to place when we're craving some tres leches or flan. read more

Just got here on a Saturday afternoon and parking is busy. Needed to buy some bolillos for my carne asada tortas. The bolillos were nice and warm; I was salivating. Of course this doesn't help in a Mexican bakery, so I begin picking sweet bread. Conchas, orejas, besos,tortugas, elotes and much more. I restricted myself to one dozen of both bolillos and Mexican bread. Loved them both. The cashier was nice; bread was delicious...kudos to the baker in the back who makes it all happen. read more

This bakery is tiny but man it is the best bakery in Pico Rivera!!! The tres leches and flan were both outstanding!!! We will definitely be coming back here. My dad always stops by on his way home to Whittier--often after jobs in LA, Echo Park, or West LA--passing through Pico Rivera to pick up my grandfather's favorite elote and my grandmother's favorite tortuga. When I visit my parents in Whittier, I make it a point to stop here too--bringing pan dulce for my grandparents in Pico Rivera before heading over. If you wanna lock in and study Id suggest only coming here on the weekdays. I highly recommend their tamal, huge and tasty. Their shuco (guate hot dog) is also so flavorful and hearty. I don't drink coffee but my friend had one of their lattes and really loved it. Im more of a juice person and got their freshly squeezed OJ :3 Def recommend this place and I love the cozy café vibes. This place is legit run by Guatemalans which was pretty cool. I recently visited Guatemala so it was fun to chat with the waiter who noticed my shirt (I was coincidentally wearing a shirt I bought in Guatemala with a picture of Tikal lol). Anywaaaay - I tried the trio tostadas, a tamal and a Mayan iced latte. The tostadas were great. They were very fresh. They're very simple. One is black bean, one is avacado and one is chicken salad. My favorite was the chicken salad. I used their green salsa and it was delicious. The tamales was good. Today I learned I don't really like the flavor of banana leaf that gets absorbed into the tamal. Also, it was primarily made of rice. It had a piece of bell pepper, a little chicken and I think a plum. Aside from the banana leaf I liked the tamale. The latte was delicious. Nice coffee flavor and sweetened perfectly. Definite recommend and I will for sure be back.

I ordered the asada chilaquiles verdes with over easy eggs, and my little one had the kids' French toast. The food was really good overall. The green sauce was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the French toast was delicious. The only downside was that the carne asada had a slightly off taste, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. My biggest surprise was the price. For an old school diner, I found it to be on the expensive side. The café de olla was $6.99, my son's orange juice was over $5, and even the small add-ons were priced higher than expected. Breakfast for just the two of us came to about $60 with tip. I'm usually used to spending about half that amount for myself and my 3 year old. Overall, the breakfast was tasty, and I enjoyed the food. If price isn't a concern, it's worth checking out, but the cost would probably make me think twice before coming back regularly..
