    Agua Fresca

Our first time visiting this little hole-in-the-wall spot, and we're so glad we did! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. We started with chips and salsa, and that salsa was delicious! The server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the green chilaquiles, one with asada the other with chicken and they were so flavorful and delicious! We also tried the café de olla, fresh orange juice, and an agua fresca, which was so refreshing. The restaurant is definitely far from fancy, but don't let that fool you -- the service, food, and drinks are top-tier! We'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes. Supporting these little local gems is always worth it!

Chicharon en salsa verde. Fried pork skin in a green sauce with a side of refried beans. Spicy and delicious.

Had to come to my favorite diner in LA once again for my menudo fix! But not without a side order of Pata !!!! Love that this is an option as a lot of places here in LA offer menudo but not with Pata! Great service from everyone like always! Owner Chef Jorge came to check on us and make sure we were 100% satisfied! These are the details that keep us coming back time after time!

Mazapan pancakes. Extremely delicious. Will definitely be back.

Food is really good. Definitely recommend. Will be back again soon. The Mazapan pancakes are extremely delicious. Will return to try churro and banana split pancakes.

Came in on a Saturday morning with my family for brunch and we were starving. Not busy at all so we immediately ordered our food and drinks. Three occupied tables including us with only one waitress. We weren't worried about it at that time but then it got really busy. It took a long time for us to receive our drinks. Even longer to get our food. Our kids received their food after us. They forgot a few things. The waffles were missing strawberries and we requested sour cream and other things. My wife had to get up a few times to service. Finally got to relax and enjoy our food. We both got chilaquiles and they were really good. High quality steak and decent sized chips. The sauce is pretty good. My kids shared waffles and spaghetti. They devoured their food and had no complaints. It was a hot day and it was warm inside. Eventually more staff showed up to help but we were already done. The aesthetics can use an upgrade as can their AC system. Not sure we will return.

I would give Olguita's Cocoa a 5/10 overall. The café de olla was actually really good, and the server was very friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the food could definitely improve. The beans were cold, and the chilaquiles were just okay and not served hot. I also had to add extra chili for flavor, and they don't offer jalapeños upon request. The place has potential, but I think they really need to step up the aesthetics and overall presentation. If you want authentic go to Senior G on Whittier and Rosemead ask for Lorena or Carlos.

Back Again -- And Olguitas Did NOT Disappoint! Yep, I'm back. If you read my last review, you already know I'm a fan -- and this visit only confirmed it. Came back to try the Huevos con Machaca and wow, Olguitas continues to deliver in a big way. The plate was loaded -- scrambled eggs with shredded beef, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, refried beans, and hash browns all piled onto that same generously sized oval plate. Did I finish it? Absolutely not. Took the rest home and it was just as good later! The café de olla was -- served in a beautiful hand-painted Mexican clay mug, rich and perfectly sweetened. That alone is worth the trip. One thing I also love about this place that I didn't mention before -- it's peaceful and quiet. I was able to sit down with no wait, have an actual conversation without shouting over noise. That's harder to find than you'd think! Olguitas Cocina has officially become a regular spot for me. If you haven't been yet, what are you waiting for? Go. Now.

    Hot Links and Eggs

This place is just incredible! We came back the next day on 4-6-25 with different people to see the wonderful food and staff. We arrived around 12:30pm after church and got good parking again. I ordered the Hot Links and Eggs with home fries and sourdough toast. The rule that I have when it comes to Hot Links on a menu is rare, but if you are going to have them, they better be good. The Hot Links were the best that I have ever had at a cafe/restaurant for breakfast. They were nice and thick and cooked perfectly. Everything else was just as good. It is a very nice and warm atmosphere with live music playing and able to watch the Dodger game on tv depending on where you sit. The staff are just great people, warm and friendly and make you feel welcome at their place. We love coming here. Our server was Jorge C. and he is great, provides excellent service and knowledge about the dishes on the menu. You will not be disappointed at all!!

We tried: * Iced Latte Flight: Horchata, Abuelita, Pistachio, and Mazapan * Hot Mazapan Latte * Mimosa Flight * Mole Chilaquiles * Birria Benedict * Huevos Rancheros * The Journey Pancakes The Hot Mazapan Latte was our favorite coffee and something I would absolutely order again. The iced flight was also a great way to sample several of their flavors without having to commit to just one. For food, the Birria Benedict was the standout and easily our favorite dish. I loved the Mexican-inspired spin on a brunch classic, and the rich birria paired so well with the eggs and Benedict preparation. We also really enjoyed getting a mix of savory dishes with the Mole Chilaquiles and Huevos Rancheros before finishing with The Journey Pancakes for something sweet. Overall, Madres Brunch offers a huge variety of creative food and drinks, especially if you enjoy Mexican flavors and fun twists on traditional brunch. Definitely a place where I recommend coming hungry and ordering several things to share! Excellent service, as well.

The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. Just a couple of weeks ago, my friends and I were considering our options for where to have brunch to celebrate one of our friend's retirement. Toast was one of the names I dropped in the metaphorical hat, and it won the vote of a few. My friends were surprised that I had named a spot I hadn't yet tried since I'm usually the "foodie" of the group. However, another girl in the group who had been here before vouched for it. I'm glad I finally got to try this place this past weekend, and I cannot wait to return! There were so many things on their menu that I wanted to try. A couple of the ladies ordered green chilaquiles, the friend we were celebrating ordered the Spanish Omelet, another woman I'd met that day had the bacon and eggs, another one ordered the Biscuits and grave with a side of bacon that looked perfectly crispy. I wish I had taken pictures of the plates as it all looked so lovely! I didn't even take a picture of my own food haha. I had my eyes on an omelet, one of the Benedicts or the Chicken n Waffle. In the end, the chicken and waffle won. It comes served with a little container of maple syrup with bacon pieces. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle was delicious, though I did request for some extra syrup on the side. To drink, a few ladies ordered mimosas, one ordered an iced caramel coffee, and I ordered the Carajillo. I fell in love with this drink last summer in Mexico and do not often see it on the menu. I love the subtle citrus notes the Licor 43 adds to this espresso drink. It is very similar to an espresso martini, and theirs comes topped with a toasted marshmallow. I honestly wanted to try almost every item in their Tipsy Barista section of their drinks. I'll just have to come back that many more times :) Plenty of parking in the mall lot. It does get pretty packed during peak hours. Fortunately I had called ahead to put our group of 6 down. We went in on Saturday around 11:30. It slowed down a bit while we were eating, but started to get busy again after 1. Otherwise, we might have been forced to honor their 90-minute rule. All in all, a great experience from everyone in our group. No complaints on the wait, service or food. That certainly deserves a toast. Great job, Toast!

Although there is parking in the front, it's very limited. We later found there is much more convenient parking in the back, which I definitely recommend using. As soon as you walk in, you can tell it's a family-owned, mom-and-pop restaurant. Even though the dining area is small, it feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable. It also seems to be a favorite among the locals, which is always a good sign. The service was excellent. The staff frequently checked on us, kept our water glasses full, and happily accommodated my fiancée's special request for her meal. The food was fantastic. My fiancée ordered the Wet Burrito without the cheese on top. It came with chips, and even though they were in the sauce, they somehow stayed crispy throughout the meal. She loved every bite. I ordered the chicken and waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. The chicken was fried to perfection--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned throughout without being overly breaded. The waffles were delicious and paired perfectly with the toppings. We also shared a biscuit with gravy. The biscuit was soft, fluffy, and moist enough that it honestly didn't even need the gravy. That said, the gravy was rich, flavorful, and not overly salty, making it a great complement. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend giving this place a try--and don't forget to park in the back!
