Super fast and friendly service. Went in for breakfast on Sunday and ordered the Mexican scrambled eggs. Food was good, came out quickly. Not a very complex plate (scrambled eggs with diced jalapeño, onion, and tomatoes) - the highlight is the hot sauces they bring out with the food. The green stuff is not for the faint of heart - it is hot. Reminds me of the creamy habanero sauce you find everywhere in Cancun. The red was also good. I ordered the beef quesadilla, which came with everything guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Very nice portion side, and looked beautiful . The little complaint I have against, is my ideal quesadilla is a more toasted on the tortilla sides, if you don't like it toasted , then it was perfect!!! The service was excellent , and they do care if you are comfortable . The atmosphere is diner like, on the home kitchen side. You get the feeling of home cooked or freshly prepared,with the aroma of home cooked meal being prepared. The food here is definitely affordable and good. Definitely not a five star gourmet Mexican food if that's what you are looking for. The service is great every time I have come here. Their menudo is really good and made just right. I just wish there was more hominy along with all the meat. Most Mexican restaurants just serve a lot of meat. :) I came here with my kids one evening because my wife had to work late. Needless to say my kids are typical kids. Picky about everything, this place has you covered even if you are Hispanic and your kids don't want to eat Mexican food. They also make some delicious fajitas if that is your favorite Mexican dish. This corner place is a hidden gem! I just moved to the Austin area and looked around for some comfort food that tasted close to Mexican food. Great local family restaurant and my favorite close by Mexican joint. Every time I go in, I am the only white guy there - I always take this as a good sign Their salsa has a decent kick to it, and unlike a few other nearby Mexican restaurants, they do have a liquor license if you want a michelada or Bloody Maria. I get something different each visit, and it never fails to be delicious. I would choose this spot for authenticity over nearby Tres Amigos, and the staff is a lot friendlier than Aguilar's across the street, plus they have booze here and serve food faster. Just left this place after waiting for a waitress to attend me my daughter and wife and I've never been more upset at a small local business before ... not only did the place look like someone's basement but after taking a while to attend us the lady approaches and says to us that because my daughter came in with a pizza (keep in mind that she's 4 years of age and a very picky eater so we knew she wouldn't eat anything there and picked her up something along the way) they told us we had to leave and couldn't eat there.... Walked in with my daughter and husband and immediately felt uncomfortable. Everyone in the kitchen was staring at us. Everything I've tried is amazing but my favorites are their fajitas, tortas, breakfast tacos, flautas, and menudo (on weekends). Ho hum....that kinda sums it up for me. Now before you dis me on my ho hum review, it's not my fault! A friend played up this place to be fabulous. It was average, only negative were the tortillas we stiff and not fresh. The chicken enchiladas were good, fresh chicken was great, the red sauce, ok. The small amount of unmelted cheese was just a garnish. The rice nothing special, the beans were really good. Oops...almost forgot the salsa...too smokey and roasted for my tastes. I almost felt like I was dipping chips in bbq sauce, now I know that will excite someone! I promise to go back and try the breakfast tacos soon...breakfast tacos can make or break a joint for sure! I cannot believe how horrible the serves is here. Now I know why you have no business. We decided to surprise our dear friend (who has become homeless due to the Memorial Day flooding) with a baby shower to help her before her baby comes. Thinking it was a good idea to go some place where its not too busy we chose El Rinconcito Del Sabor - Kyle ; unfortunately we were not welcomed. The owner or manager whoever she was explained that we should have called ahead. By all means I totally understand and my apologize. I honestly didn't think it would be an issue. I mean the Facebook page does advertise walk-ins welcomed and parties of 6 or over get a free queso.. I didn't think it was an issue but now I know. Then she proceeds to say if you're going to eat here you all have to order a plate nothing al la cart and just have water.. Again okay weird but your rules.. Whatever.. Then what had all of us livid... 2 of our guest were disabled veterans (both served overseas) and both parked in the handicap parking. Well, the same lady tells another guest of ours to tell them they could not park there. My friend came to double check with the 2 vets and they confirmed that they have it on their plates they can park in that parking. Once my friend explained that it was on the plates they are able to park there; that woman then says well they look to young to be disabled veterans (in a tone that she did not believe it was true). OMG it was horrible.... Not that she was deserving both had furnished all credentials.. It took me to tell the waiter that he and that lady owed them an apology. Happy fourth of July!!! Not to mention we were told they could not split the check with over 6 credit cards. Needless to say we used 2 different cards and the rest in cash. That was a big mess and them trying to double charge. Ritas were good Food was edible (beans no flavor) Portions you get robbed... I know cuz I went to a school in this neighborhood and did my share of wandering around on foot around the neighborhood. So yeah the food is good. I ordered the Pollo Asado, the chicken was very flat, so was my mother's carne asada steak flat. Flat as a crepe, not a pancake a crepe. Super flat. Ha! Not quite what i was expecting. Maybe its normal in Mexico for the meat to be flat? The rice was good the beans were bland the chips were stale. I have had better and I have had worse. Oh and the salsa...... pureed canned tomato's with some chiles. I know my salsa. I prefer it cold, chunky and made with fresh ingredients. It was room temp, way too much like tomato soup. Man oh man! This place is the bomb! I went for my first time today and i'm going again, that's for sure. From the look outside you wouldn't expect it to be so adorable inside. There are things hanging from the ceiling, Mexican newspaper, dolls on wall, and Mexican candy. It's not a crowded place and that's why it's great. The staff is really sweet, but i'm not sure if they know English. i had a friend translate for me just to be safe. Right when you sit down they give you complimentary chips and salsa, ask what you want to drink, then you order. I ordered the Tex-Mex cheese enchiladas. When I got my plate I was truly flabbergasted. It was a hug place with 1/3 rice(AMAZING) 1/3 Cheese enchiladas with some type of red salsa (FANTASTIC) and 1/3 beans (shooot, GREAT) are for 5.99!!!
