The service was ok, I did to go. The place is decorated a very decorative festive vibe. The food was not for me, the carnitas are low quality chicharrones, not chewable and all fat. The same goes for the second torta I ordered as well. I did not try their fruit cups which I will the next time I come back.

Coffee's always piping hot, service is on point and friendly, the food takes me back to a little taste of home! Salsa rojo is on point; anything I've ordered from here has been tasty and authentic. Try it out

Everything here was so good i got a torta didn't expect it to be as big as it was and a good price,i stopped from out of town,on top of everything being good everyone's customer service was so good the chef took and cooked our order to perfection!i felt very welcomed I will most definitely stop by again if i am in austin!

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon and had the Rojas enchiladas, and they were delicious. They have a lot of fresh fruit desserts, so I tried the strawberries & Cream, and it was really good. Will definitely be coming back

THE BEST authentic home made Mexican food in Austin, maybe all of central Texas. If you ever find yourself in northeast Austin craving GREAT Mexican good, this is THE place! It's a bit on the spicy side, after all Mexicans love their chiles, but they are willing to tone it down, guero-style if you prefer.

Really hard to believe that this place doesnt have more reviews for as long as its been open...This place was is surely a hole in the wall, out of the way, blink and you will miss it type of place...There is a bit of a language barrier, but we worked thru it...Bang for you buck is about the best you can find...We get the starters...some salsa, chips and Queso...Chips are home made, Salsa was great and small side of beans as well...We werent the biggest fans of the Queso, but the price was right for $2.00...Wife starts with the usual...Beef chiladas, double rice...topped with red sauce...Mine was the Chicken Chiladas with green sauce, beans and rice...Each plate came with 4, yes 4 enchiladas...and they were delish!...all for the average price of $8.99...They were packed, and the sauces were full of flavor...rice was fresh and fluffy...Take the time to check this place out...its well worth it, next stop here will be for breakfast.

OMG yes! I just moved to the northeast side and until today I had been disappointed by the quality and variety of Mexican food in this part of town. But now I've found Los Pepes and my palate is doing its happy dance. This the real deal, with a broad and deep menu of familiar favorites (enchiladas done true Mexican style with no orange cheese in sight), filling caldos (my dining partner had the delicious "Vuelve a la Vida" seafood soup), and snacks that are new to me like pambazos and a million kinds of huaraches. So good! I'll be back.

    Huarache Azteca

I can't believe that I live down the street from this place and I have never been here! I picked up food for my daughter my mother and myself all for under $25. We got the gordita and asked for nopales instead of meat;also ordered the combo plate (w/chicken) & the huarache azteca. SO much food!!! The chicken was very tender and seasoned just right, not too salty. No American cheese, all queso blanco, the best and only way to go. Huarache was huge and enough for at least two people. The Gordita wasn't greasy perfect for really hungry and on the go person and was wrapped up so neat, I'll definitely go back when I need something on the go. Son buena gente en los pepes con comida riquísima también i love to support local small business. Highly recommend this place if you leave on Loyola or mlk.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

Every single dish at Suerte was completely worth it. The family-style ordering was great because my partner and I got to delight in each dish together. The portions were clearly intentionally sized: nothing too big, but also nothing too small. And each bite had us both sitting and often closing our eyes to fully experience the food. We spent just as much time not talking as we did talking. The food did a lot of talking for us And when we were talking, it was either to one another, or to our server, Jake. Lemme tell ya, knocked it out of the park. His timing was on point. He never hovered, and he practically appeared out of nowhere when our need for him arose. I literally said to him at one point: "your timing is impeccable!" He was delightful, funny, knowledgeable, and very easy to converse with. Our visit would have been wonderful with the food alone, but Jake made the experience particularly memorable. Thank y'all - especially Jake and the chefs - for such a wonderful (and rare for us) date night.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!
