(10/26) Very cute spot with authentic Mexican decor, and the verde sauce on the suiza enchiladas is genuinely captivating!! Overall pretty flavorful and tasty, but nothing out of this world and I have had better in Austin, would definitely come back and try other plates though.

Las Cazuelas has a special place in my heart cuz I used to come here all the time during college. I've tried various versions of their cheese enchiladas, and most recently their cheese taquitos, and I can say that I've never had a bad meal here. The taste/flavor isn't very consistent so I would recommend not getting too attached to any specific preparation, but however my food comes out of the kitchen, it's still always good and filling.

We needed tacos and it was too damn hot to walk far. This was the first place we saw and it vibed just right Good call!! Breakfast all day, and mostly well under $10---sold!!! We each got three breakfast tacos, which were delicious. I ate them all before I thought to take a pic. Chips come with red and green salsa, and there's a whole salsa bar with other choices. For me, this is what an unassuming Mexican restaurant should be, with great funky decor, obviously some history in the location, and a range of selections in the food, from very simple and cheap to more ambitious when you want a full meal--and what looks like a substantial bar menu. I feel I've found a treasure and will be back!

It's a very small place but the food was so good. ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup w/o cheese. Pretty hefty portion. They have plenty of food/drink specials to choose from. Avocado salsa was awesome & our waiter was respectful & attentive. I know this is a minor detail, but its an important one for me & it's that they do not have napkins on the tables & wasn't offered any when tended to. I felt like I was being intrusive asking for them, other than that I had a great lunch.

I used to frequent this place when I was working at the airport and wanted a fix to my Mexican food craving. I love coming here for their tortas and extensive bar menu. Service is like your usual locally owned family restaurant. I loved the music they were playing and I love seeing all of the pictures they have around the restaurant. My only problem is parking is very hard to find, since they're surrounded by bars on Cesar Chavez I know this isn't their fault and I really hope they don't end up getting pushed out of East Austin.

This is by far my favorite place for taqueria brunch when I visit Austin proper. Why? Well, in part due to the comfort induced by repetitive good habits that is an integral part of the Human Condition. I first visited Las Cazuelas back in January after a bit of a bummer of an experience the evening before. The place was quaint, cozy and quiet. I was promptly greeted by a nice waitress who worked diligently with me so I could order my standard taqueria brunch (Steak, eggs & bacon (à la carte)). Okay, if I'm being honest, the first time here it was a pork chop instead of bacon, but you get the idea. I now come here for brunch almost every time I'm in town. They have good food, good people and good prices. It is surrounded by a lot of homeless individuals, but they come off as fairly harmless, and hey, that's life in the big city. So that might be a turnoff for some. But, for anyone with a basic understanding of Human Nature, this should not be a deterrent. In short, I highly recommend Las Cazuelas for some good classic taqueria brunch. Oh, and one more thing; they have some tasty salsas!

I had mole, it was too sweet. It was really good though! The tortillas were hot and tasty. Didn't get a refill on my soda, but the chips and salsa were tasty. Hot, HOT chips.

Open 25 years? I have been in Austin for a very long time and cannot believe that I have never been to this restaurant. Especially since it is open late at night. We were looking for a place to eat after an ACL taping around 11 pm on a Thursday night. Their site says open till 2am. Las Cazuelas has an extensive almost overwhelming menu. My friend is a vegetarian so she has plenty of questions for the server. We both decided to try some of the New Original Plates. They started us off with chips and salsa. The red salsa was watery tomato and bland. The green sauce was thick and spicy fantastic. She ordered the Spinach Enchiladas which consisted of cheese enchiladas with a generous amount of spinach topping with rice and refried beans (which may or not have been vegetarian), salad and guacamole. The guac was pretty bland but it was pretty late at night. I had the Emolada Enchiladas. Five shredded chicken enchiladas swimming in a mole sauce. I didn't want to mess with rice and beans since I had filled up on the chips and salsa. The enchiladas varied with the amount of filling. The mole sauce was rich and chocolatey...just a little too sweet. Ended up taking a couple home because I was full from too many chips. Curiously! Pretty decent food, good prices, late night dining! I need to try them again but earlier in the day as I can only imagine how tired the staff must be by late night.

My brothers brought their breakfast tacos back to our Airbnb for breakfast several mornings this past weekend, and everyone enjoyed them. At just $1.50 per breakfast taco, the prices are incredibly reasonable. The portion sizes were pretty good too.

I've been to San Luis Potosi... but the food here is better than the original food from San Luis Potosi, haha. It's delicious and healthy.

She noticed I was ordering dairy items on side and asked about if pesto in guacamole was ok. So astute and kind of her. Also on my friends second drink remembered she didn't want salt or her rim without even asking - Everything tasted so fresh and high quality - Brisket tacos: packed with flavor--maybe it was the wagyu meat or the black magic oil. Freshly made corn tortillas were awesome. Usually corn ones and pretty throwaway meh, but these added to the greatness of the tacos. 5 stars - Duck flautas: crispy covered in mild mole. Loved the mashed potato addition inside for some mellowness and texture. 5 stars - Guacamole: so fresh and that dollop of pesto on top was lovely. Served with crispy masa dippers were impressive almost a 8x11 page size. It was fun to crack off into pieces, but hard to stop eating it. 5 stars - Sweet potato: friend loved these long charred wedges. 4.5 stars - Cocktails were stellar. I got the Don Dario which was a play on a marg and delightful - $12 of a few drinks during lucky hour (Mon-Fri 5-6pm, Sat-Sun 3-5pm) - High energy vibes in a clean, open, tan colored space - Had their bottle water on the table in a champagne bottle which speaks to my heart Midlights: - In East Austin so have to Uber if you are staying more central - Tacos come in orders of 4. Wish it was less so we could've tried more variety. Lowlights - No food discounts for lucky hour - Didn't have time to try the choco taco which looked amaze - Large gap of time between items first few items coming out and the rest

And of course, the Guacamole and Queso Fundido remains one of my personal favorites--fresh, flavorful, and always a must-order for the table. I ordered the brunch cachetada and wasn't thrilled. The suiza chicken and runny eggs diluted the flavor and made the cheese crust on the tortilla soggy. I had to add a lot of hot sauce. It needed more texture and flavor. Overall a boring dish. I would definitely return and order something else, however.

For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off.
