Not a fan of this establishment. When we arrived inside there was some birthday party happening with a lot of guests who crowded the entire inside. It seemed like they were having a private party and probably should've closed the restaurant to public ordering. The woman who took our order was nice and it did not take long for our food to come out. We ordered 3 ground beef tacos, one order of queso birria, and one order of regular birria. The beef tacos honestly had no flavor at all. The birria tacos were just ok, still lacking flavor and the queso ones barely had any queso. The consome was probably the best part. I am very disappointed with the food quality as my wife and kids ate here today for lunch. We have been here a few times without any real issues. Today my wife and 2 year are the guacamole and got extremely sick within the hour. My child that did not eat the guacamole was completely fine. Quality of food has been declining during recent visits. Service in the dining room is still good however in kitchen there seems to be a change. In a recent visit Al pastor was bland and there were chunks of fat. I can overlook this once in awhile but this has occurred multiple times. Wow! This place is a hidden Gem! I have been struggling to find yummy Mexican food since leaving Southern California, so I can not explain how thrilled I was when I took a bite of the Cali burrito I ordered. The Jamaica and Horchata are fresh, and the salsas they offer are spicy and flavorful! Nothing can match San Diego Mexican food, but I'm happy to say that this is pretty darn close. We had a Cali Burrito and Tacos de cabesa, al pastor, lengua, and alambre. On top of the yummy food, the customer service was beyond amazing! IMPRESSIVE!!! First time here after reading the reviews. I tried the Birria Quesadilla, which is a large flour tortilla filled with beef birria (a beef similar in texture to brisket which has been cooked for 15 hours), & cheese, onion, cilantro and a side of consommé (a rich extremely flavorful broth to dip the quesadilla in). Ohhhh My...this was flavor overload and I had to stop eating it so that I could fairly evaluate the main thing I came in for, the Carne Asada. The Carne Asada was served with sautéed red & green bell peppers, onions, rice, pinto beans and salad. It was also well seasoned and delicious. While the beef for both dishes is extremely flavorful, neither is 'tender' so keep this in mind when ordering. The Quesadilla was so memorable I ordered two to go for my family to try. I'm excited to see what they will think. I also had a side of guacamole which was fresh, creamy deliciousness with chunks of veggies. Yes, you've already guessed I am stuffed but had to order a piece of their house made dessert, a chocolate cake with flan baked on top. I don't like flan but this was actually lovely! If you enjoy authentic and delicious Mexican food, you've got to give this place a try. Sorry they don't serve alcohol. read more

We have now been there twice and love the place. Both my wife and I grew up in Texas so we grew up with authentic Mexican food and its sometimes a challenge to find. These guys are legit. Last time we were there our waitress let us know they had just finished making birria de res. This is a taco dish that takes hours to prepare. I changed my order to the birria. Service - Came here for lunch (after lunch hour rush around 1:30PM) there's four tables in total of two party each table. It took 15 minutes for the server to take our order, another 10 to get our water.... and the food, it took another 20 to come out. Welp there goes my lunch hour. Food - ordered a tacos salad $8.50 i believe with tax, obvious it came out and i had to take it to go because there wasn't enough time to eat at the restaurant. Food quality, i wouldn't pay $8.50 for a salad then the meat is even less than two ounces of meat and the meat was mixed with beans to imitate that it was a lot. Was in desperate need of dried corn husks for tomalies. I tried every grocery in town, with no success, before I visited this joint. As soon as I walked in I was certain I was going to find them here. I went straight to the counter and asked the attendant--she took me straight to them! The price and quantity was great--far better than the other stores in town. I was pleased with the service--not sure how the rest of the store fares. I've been here 3xs now and each time the food has been wonderful. I've had the chorizo quesadilla, the birria corn taco platter, and the arroz pollo. The food is served hot, it's loaded with flavor and spices. The beans are amazing, so flavorful. The restaurant is small in size but big on flavor, portion sizes are nice, too. The wait staff is friendly and responds quickly to requests. This is my new favorite place for Mexican food! Looking forward to going again soon.
