Delicious authentic Puerto Rican food at El Coqui LLC in Point Lookout Callaway Md. if you haven't tried this place you don't know what you are missing, here is a delicious Pork chop plate filled with of flavors from the island of Borinquen! My favorite local mom and pop restaurant, with cocktails and yummy beers. Cheers!

Overall a great experience. Comfortability and side pricing are two areas that could be improved. First, the bad: The seating is hit or miss. If you're a bigger guy, opt for the metal barstools (with backs) in the main dining room. We picked the tables by the front window, and the super light plastic chairs were considerably wobbly. Outside seating looked alright, though it was too hot to dine out there this time. There's kind of a value mismatch in some of their menu items. We got the platter for two, which ran us about $45. I didn't mind the price for that, as it gave us a great sampling of their menu. The side of Beas and rice, however, were $8 apiece. That's our mistake for not checking first, but between that our two Coronas (plus tip) the bill reached over $90 for the two of us. I think there's some room for price adjustments on the sides! Now the good, which I promise outweighs the bad: The food was great. Everything came out hot and looking great. One of the staff came by and recommended which sauces to use for which dishes, which was nice! Honestly everything we ate tastes great. The mofongo was the surprise hit - absolutely delicious. The staff was so nice and helpful - every person we interacted with was eager to help us understand the menu, very attentive to our needs, and just generally very pleasant. A truly fantastic place to get Puerto Rican food in St Mary's.

Temporary set up at Callaway awaiting the permanent brick&mortar setting to be completed (late June).

Stay local, eat local! Check out their great menu and choose an interesting meal...why not!? Food is great and enjoy the vibe! Who will make the 5th star? You

We've had things from their food truck in the past and the restaurant did not disappoint. We got a sampler platter and everything was delicious and the mojitos were fresh and well-made. It did take a little while to get our food and drinks, but that's totally understandable since they just opened and they were already busy for the lunch crowd. Only thing I'd try to improve on is getting some sound panels as the back room got pretty loud.

OMG!! My sons begging to go to Puerto Rico now. Came here to get a taste and got the itis. We tried the mofungo with garlic shrimp and it was so delicious. The empanadas with the dipping saice were soo tasty. The plantains just right and the Pina Colada was on point. We drove from Waldorf for this and they did not disappoint. We will be back, already planning our next meal!!!

We spend a month every year in Puerto Rico. There food reminds us of the best we have had in PR. Mofongo options are especially good.

My friend and I ordered two Abuelo's Favorite Plate and the rice and peas were proportioned, the shredded pork succulent and the ripe plantain sweet and delicious. We topped our order off with two guava and sweet cream pastelillos - pastry nice and flaky and the filling just the right sweetness to end this delicious meal on! Thank you Que Rico for a meal reminiscent of my childhood Sunday dinners!

Pretty good food if you have a craving for Puerto Rican food…read more The Pastelillos were delish. I ordered a ground beef and a chicken with cheese. They were crispy, good amount of filling and nice flavor overall. Fantastic. I think they should serve the meal with a bit more rice. The Pernil, pulled pork was sort of dry and unfortunately the large side of garilc mojo sauce (garlic oil) was sideways in the bag and by time I got it home, the oil had all leaked out into the paper bag and onto the floor mat inside my car. The mofongo bites listed as 5 bites, however I only received 4. They were on the sweet side. The masa from the plantain taste too ripe for my liking. I prefer more green plantains in my mofongo. The tostones were pretty good. The pictures made them look a bit larger, but oh well. This was my first time ordering from a ghost kitchen, and the concept is a brilliant idea because you can order from so many cuisines! You can try so many restaurants in one place. Quite amazing.

It was our first time here and we couldn't decide what we wanted. After drooling over the plates that went by, we asked the owner to help us narrow down our options. We landed on the Chicharron Sampler for an appetizer. For our main courses, we had the Bandeja Paisa and the Paella Caribena. We were also eyeing the Dominican-style beef stew and the Sancocho Soup. We asked for a sample of the Sancocho soup and that's when we found out they make everything to order - including the soup! His wife went into the kitchen and whipped up a sample of the soup ... we didn't mind the wait for the sample as we knew she was working her magic! It did not disappoint. We ordered a large soup to go! It'll be cold later this week and this will be perfect in the rainy weather. This place reminds me of home - the way my mother cooks ... the flavors are developed and everything was cooked to perfection. I did a little dance in my chair with each bite! The portions were large - we'll have left overs for the next several days! And I CANNOT wait! We're looking forward to coming back and trying something new! PHOTO DISCLOSURE: We dove into the Chicharron Sampler before we took the photo. What you see is just a small portion of the actual serving size. Also, the photo of the soup was the made from scratch made to order sample of the Sancocho soup.

So I pulled in, parked, walked in and the restaurant was cleaned with a beautiful bar. I ordered 3 items: 1) Beef empanadas 2) Cuban sandwich 3) Buffalo wings. As the appetizers arrive to the table, though I only chose one empanada out of the three flavors they offer: cheese, beef or chicken. I chose beef which was served with a special sauce (mayo and ketchup), because it was well seasoned and the filling was packed, the sauce wasn't needed. The crust was thin, flaky and delicious on its own. The buffalo wings served their homemade ranch, with 8 pieces were juicy, tender and delicious. Unfortunately the Cuban sandwich fell flat for me. The ingredients were ham, cheese, roasted pork, pickles, mayonnaise and mustard. The sandwich was flattened like a panini and I was excited for the first bite but the protein was too dry. As I lift the bread, there was only a teaspoon mayo and mustard spread. It was served with matchstick fries and a ramekin of ketchup. I wanted to ordered desserts but unfortunately they do not make all of their homemade desserts (flan, tres leches, rice pudding) every day. You will have to called in to see what they have before dining in. The only dessert available that day was their flan. My server Karla was friendly and attentive. I would make another visit to try other items on their menu.
