Cafeteria is mostly closed (unfortunately, after being open decades), BUT there are still events and catering & pop ups where you can purchase food to heat at home. The chicken & dumplings come frozen, 64 ounces for around $28 after tax. These are the chicken and dumplings your grandma made, and I suggest you buy 2 bags and freeze one (at least!). The meatloaf is also supposed to be amazing, I'm keeping a close eye out for the next popup. Follow them on FB for info, and preorder through messenger. He's quick to reply and the food comes perfectly packaged up with ingredients listed. Jerry's Cafeteria is a Granite City institution and that is for good reason! I grew up eating Jerry's and Jerry's fried chicken and mostaccioli was served at every wedding I went to in granite. No one is complaining! After seeing some pictures of friends eating there, I knew I had to try it again after many years of not having it. We got the turkey dinner special that included turkey, dressing, cheesy twice baked mashed potatoes (OMG), and corn with plenty of gravy. I also got the coconut cream pie. Wow! Everything was SO good! It is a cafeteria, so not fancy, but a nice place to sit and eat a home style dinner. My favorite thing by far were the cheesy potatoes! I am going to have to buy them in bulk. I will definitely be back soon! read more

Well, when you work, and need a home cooked meal, Wed -Sunday, no need to go home without going to Jerry's, Great food, fast service, eat in or get it to go! I ate in the dining room, and a steady stream of customers were coming through at 3 PM, and it was HOT outside. This is the place, 4 large dining rooms, and a tray full of food at a reasonable fare, and I can hear myself think because it was quiet, cool and clean. Great Job, Jerry! read more

Not a bad deal place at all. Nice people, very calm environment and a nice chat and eat kinda place. The foods of choice depend on the day you go in. So it would be best to familiarize yourself which what they serve on what days. I've only had one bad instance there and the workers went out of their way to solve the issue and gave me double of what I ordered which was amazing. The seating is endless per say. I have to say Jerrys cafeteria has to be one of the best authentic dive food places I have been... I can't figure out for the life of me why "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" has not been here. It's an ever changing selection in the food line depending on the day of the week. It kind of takes me back to grade school and lunch lines. If you are in the st. My favorite from them is their fried chicken, which is usually available, but they do well to switch things up so the menu never gets old. While working in the STL area, some coworkers brought me here for lunch. As one reviewer wrote, it's a throwback in time. Reminds me of the places my grandma would take me when I was a little kid. I loved it! The variety of items from jello to meat loaf and mashed potatoes to pie was really neat. Had some custard pie which was delicious. Also had the fish, excellent as well. Just as good as it was the last time I was here. I can't believe it's been SIX YEARS since I last updated my review but Jerry's remains consistently delicious. Last night's fried chicken was yummy and so were the country fried steak that beloved husband and MIL had. The apple crumb pie he had vanished and the chicken livers I had were the BEST breaded and fried livers I've EVER had. Most places overcook them to crumbly and chalky but Jerry does them perfectly with great flavor and that wonderful creamy texture that makes them so delicious. The green beans were salty as hell though--I'm going to mention it but let it go this time. Everything else is still the same--this is the best dive in Madison county for lunch or dinner. If anywhere on this good earth deserves 5 stars, Jerry's does. Jerry's Cafeteria is a Granite City tradition decades in the making. Every day of every week, Jerry and his family and staff serves up some of the best home made favorites around. The fried chicken has had guests at innumerable wedding receptions comment that "this is GREAT! where is this from?" The twice-baked potatoes are to die for. Well, come to think about it, so is just about anything Jerry's serves. I've been coming here as long as I can remember, all the way back to when my grandparents brought me here a couple of nights a week for dinner and I'd have either the fried chicken or mushroom steak with mashed potatoes (with gravy, please) and green beans. Plus a slice of coconut cream pie. Plus, if I was REALLY hungry, a salad or bowl of applesauce. And then of course the signature rolls. And I'd wash it down with a glass of root beer. Those were the days. Not only is the food some of the best cafeteria & catering food around, INTEGRITY is the name of Jerry's game. Two cases illustrate my point: First: My sister was married in July of '06, the weekend after the major wind and thunderstorms (the worst in decades) hit the St. Louis area, just about knocking every tree and power line in Granite City to the ground while flooding many of the low-lying areas. The rehearsal dinner was a romantic (although unintended) candlelight affair in the basement of the church. The church didn't need electric lighting - it was all the more beautiful with the natural light. But the true worry of family and friends was how the reception would come together with no power at the hall (thankfully it wasn't as hot as it can be in St. Louis in July) or at Jerry's (the caterer.) Of course there was no need to worry, as Jerry wouldn't let anyone down. He paid a friend from upstate to bring in a refrigerated truck to keep all of the ingredients cold and he set up a makeshift kitchen of propane stoves in his back parking lot. Jerry not only successfully catered my sister's wedding reception but two others the same night. And, honest to goodness, I think that was the best-tasting Jerry's I've ever had. Jerry proved - again - his integrity, his love for his customers and community, and his professionalism. Second: Last week when my grandma passed away (the one that I have fond memories of going here with growing up), Jerry didn't miss a beat in offering his small meeting/banquet room in the cafeteria for the family and told my grandpa to invite the family for a luncheon - on him - after the funeral. Absolutely out of the blue, this act was one of the most appreciated and enjoyed of the entire ordeal we went through as a family. Jerry is a true class act who has made generations smile in Granite City both at his cafeteria and with his catering. I rate him a "5" - I'd rate him a "10" if I could - and highly recommend it to anyone. read more

You have got to be kidding me five stars. Everything I saw was made from a can. I had the fried chicken it was obviously frozen chicken.The mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. The green beans were straight from the can. The rolls were prepackage rolls. Whoever said this was a dive restaurant has never been to a good dive. Some of these yelp reviews baffle me. this place is a landmark for top shelf absolutely amazing food me and my wife's first date was here over 13 years ago and it's still our go to for a out of the house down to earth home cooked meal that's just out of this world if your hungry and in the town of granite or heck around the area and willing to drive a few extra miles this is the place there menu switches every day but has all hand made salads oh heads up there house salad is better than olive gardens etc and there desserts just wow they have anything from cheese cake to home style bread pudding it's making me hungry just typing about it and the staff is amazing as well they make you feel right at home and its super clean and they go out of there way to make sure your tooken care of before anything i never had a bad plate or side of all my years of going there it's hands down in my top ten at number 1 and if you love fish they have a baked cod dish to fight over near or roasted beef with a handmade brown gravy , take my word for it i promise you will not be disappointed but will thank me after you good and full and tired gents and gals !! thanks for taking a minute to read about this awesome place we need jerry's across the us of A lol read more

We went here for Father's Day and there was definitely a crowd, so obviously people like it. Three of us ate for $37 including two desserts. I had the breaded pork chop and it was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. The other two ordered the baked chicken and dressing. One order was under cooked, and the second one was cooked OK, but was basically flavorless.
