Definitely one of our favorite Mexican food trucks in the area! First of all their customer service is excellent. We always have friendly and cheerful people taking our orders and the orders are always accurate! Yay. The food is fresh and delicious and authentic and convenient. I was highly anticipating having some decent street tacos here. Unfortunately for me I mistakenly said I want the Dorado fish taco thinking they would have the Dorado fish which is also known as Mahimahi. When asked if I wanted Dorado taco I replied I want a fish taco and a al pastor taco. I was not aware Dorado is also known as a crispy taco shell like you would get at Taco Bell. I also ordered a al pastor taco, and much to my surprise I not only received both in the unwanted Dorado crispy shells but both tacos had refried beans and very little fish or meat. I have never ever seen refried beans in street tacos before...yuck. Now feeling totally underwhelmed by the product I received I questioned the cashier about what had happened and was not even offered a measly complimentary replacement taco. She simply said don't order the Dorado tacos next time. Holy Gaucamole. This is some of the best mexican food I've had. Rare to find things like sopas and gorditas at a food truck. I got them both 2 of each. With cabeza on one and carnitas on the other. Both were amazing. The carnitas I think were fried on the grill which gave them a liitle extra crispiness and the cabeza was just perfect. It was also one of the best sopas I have ever had. Not too doughy, it was light and crispy. Presentation was amazing to . Each sopa and gordita was stacked with some cabage and radish and cheese and a unique smokey salsa on the side. So much food I had to save one for later which i put on the oven later for a fantastic late night snack. My girlreind and I often talk about driving up from southern Marin county just for this food. 6 stars if I could. read more

I've lived in this area & passed this along my ways through town. Today I went for the first time and realized what all the lines were about. They had very good vegetarian food with an abundance of goodies on the side like picked carrots, salsa, onions and a grilled chile. The price is great, staff is A+ !! Let's set boundaries: It's a food truck. A 5-star food truck, no tables, where two carne asada tacos "with everything" plus a Diet Coke rang up at $4.33. As I sat on the cinder block wall consuming this deliciousness a man waltzed up and queried "worth the wait?" to which I began to respond that the wait "wasn't bad at all". He chuckled. He was a regular and his question actually was an inquiry as to how I was enjoying my food. Very much, thank you. He wasn't the only regular. On a Saturday evening it seemed like 3/4 of those stopping here had phoned in their orders. The staff on the truck knew their names; they knew the names of the staff. It was all friendliness and good vibes. Let it be said, if El Roy's had a truck in Marin (and why don't they?) they'd know my name well. I was down in Petaluma for a work trip and my coworkers kept talkin' about this taco truck. I honestly wasn't too hungry.. but ended up eating 6 tacos! Worth it. Here's what I liked. The inside of the truck looked clean, well-kept. A lot of taco trucks are pretty nasty inside, so it was nice to feel confident my food was being made in a clean environment. The tacos themselves were very flavorful, hot, fresh, and not over-seasoned. I order 2 carne asada, 2 carnitas, and 2 pastor. Out of the three proteins, I most definitely enjoyed carne asada the most. I can't remember the exact price, but I remember walking away feeling like I got a lot of tasty food at a reasonable cost. The truck is definitely worth checking out. I'm going here again next time I'm around. read more

I frequent roseland taco truck and I have to say el Roy's in Petaluma beat elenitas in roseland by a landslide.. I've been going to the elenitas truck for over 10yrs and lately I've seen a decline in the quality and consistency.. I do love that they always offer some type of tomale and usually do elotes when in season which I am sucker for but el Roy's is where its at. El Roy's in Petaluma is the real deal. I ordered 2 carne Asada gorditas, a pastor burrito and grilled chicken burrito, everything was delicious. They give chunks of radish, fresh and crunchy not flimsy, generous scallions and a really smoky red salsa packed with so much flavor you don't need to just dump it on everything. They offer pickled carrot and jalapeños as well. What I really loved was the burrito, I never really order burritos because I tend to find that the ingredients Aren't equally dispersed through every bites, I tend to find chunks of bean, cheese and guacamole in one part of the burrito. Not at el Roy's! Every bite was equally magical and had a little bit of everything. It was the best burrito I've ever had! The Gordita was probably one of the best I've had as well, petite and hand made with a fresh corn blend. Perfectly crispy and not overdone with toppings that fall over with each bite. Clean and refined! Overall el Roy's is worth the wait, the line can get crazy but that's just a sign that magically delicious foods are being made. read more

Wow!!! We never write reviews. We had the shrimp tocos, el pastor tacos, and the tacos dorados. Every bit was delicious! The tortillas were fluffy and tasted fresh. The el pastor was on point, the shrimp was cooked perfectly and good quality. I could go on about sauces, but you get it. Also, special thanks to the ladies at the window, they were super sweet and helpful! Funny observation- The Taco Bell across the street had a line of cars in the drive thru. 07/31/22- As always, perfect 5 stars! Thanks to El Roy once again, for always making the same great tasting, authentic Mexican Food! Counting the times I go here, and writing reviews- there's more days that I haven't wrote reviews for those days experienced! Just wanna follow up and still the same goodness through the years! This is what a true business is all about! Always consistent and never disappoints! I don't mind 30mins driving just to get here! It gets busy on Saturday nights, as in busy lines but the crew were all on-the-go and fast service, so don't make that walk you away from it! There's always a phone order, and if it is more than 40$, you have to pay over the phone via debit/credit card (which makes sense) and receipt will be texted to you. I never had missed days at El Roy's and could not count the times I've been here and will always be here for as long as they exists! If the owner is reading this, keep up the great work, from the cleanliness, to friendliness of your staff, and the same delicious goodness all the time, I am very thankful that your business is always here to fill up and satisfy hungry, craving tummies! They have the best Mexican food I have had while in California. I've been to quite a few Mexican food places here and all of them disappoint except el Roy's. I love the food truck because it's quick and easy to get your food, but there is also a restaurant in Petaluma. This taco truck is always busy. My favorite is the carne asada tacos the plate comes with rice and beans and they are the best tacos I've had while in this area. My husband always tries something different and he has enjoyed everything he's ordered so far. If you are on the fence about eating here, just do it. The food is really good. read more

I have been a regular customer for more than a year, I typically place my order for my family from san rafael and pick the order up 20 minutes later I live in Petaluma. Tonight i ordered and for the 1st time the person on the phone says can you pay now? I said, no I am driving and I will pay cash she said ok. When i arrive to the taco truck I pay and tip all cash she says we will call your name when ready. ok... it's been 20 minutes since i made the order. so 10 min later standing out side the taco truck i ask did you just put my order in when i arrived at the window? She says yes I said what's the difference from me ordering on the phone 20-30 minutes away or just coming here and ordering? She said some people order and they don't show up. I said why is that my problem when i have been ordering from you for a year or more and paying cash at the window? I called el Roy's taco truck (fairground location) and was directed to the restaurant location from Google. Get this fixed ! I was neglected from making another order because I ordered from the restaurant and didn't pick that up. I was with in my work truck with other coworkers and had only 1 stop available. De Lish Shuss Tasted homemade and made me want 10 more . The flaky outer shell with that rich marinated meat, reminiscent of my time in Mexico City and my friend Maria's mother's house .. With three storefronts to choose from, it's no wonder there's a line outside of every one at all times.
