This was my first time visiting the location. There was no wait in line. The customer service was great. The atmosphere is open and spacious. I had shrimp and grits. Service was fine -- it's the food that leaves something to be desired. We were last here 5 years ago and I had pancakes then that were overstirred and therefore rubbery. The hostesses were so warm and welcoming and I've never had such a nice reception upon entering. Not that the hosts aren't usually friendly - it was just extra nice yesterday. I was in the area and googled this place based on their vegetarian options. Great location, easy access near the highway. The restaurant is clean and has cute basic decor indoor and outdoor. The hostess Liz provided a 7.5/10 service at the door, she did her job. After being seated it was about a 7-8 minute wait before my waitress Hannah approached. Only after one of the other waitresses said "who has table 12". I wasn't greeted until after a couple, who walked in 6 minutes after I did. I'm going to say it was because of where I was sitting in my booth, back to the main walkway. Hannah was very friendly and did her job as well. I enjoyed the music selection as it was very calming country music. Menu was easy to read through, I ordered the Breakfast Quesadillas with beans and the French toast crunch. The chicken price take was good and it was plentiful as there was two pieces of it which one I gave to my wife and my wife shared her hash browns with me. The hash browns were decent but not great. The chicken fried steak itself was actually pretty decent but a little tough. Okay, this review is about 5 months late as we came here on an early Saturday morning on our way to a nearby errand. So definitely a review of our experience, but anything could have changed in this timeframe. The place is pretty large and they seem to seat in sections. To the left of the entrance was a small section on the way to the hallway with the restrooms and it was completely packed. We were sat to the right in a large center area where only another couple of parties were. This area was very open and had large windows as well as a direct view into the kitchen. Continuing on there was a semi separated section that had a couple of tables sat, but I couldn't tell how large it was. Everything from my view seemed pretty clean. The menu is one double sided page but covers all the basics for both breakfast and lunch options. At the time of our visit they told us they were serving the entire menu, so we were able to get lunch options despite the early hour. The server that helped us was very sweet and attentive. The wait was semi long, but reasonable considering they were maybe half full, the size of the staff and that the food was pretty good overall. My husband ordered the berry avocado salad for $10.99. You can add chicken for an extra $2.49. The ingredients seemed to be good quality. He actually thought the salad was refreshing, unfortunately it was not very big or filling for the price. I did agree that the portion seemed small for a salad, my meal was cheaper but was actually a pretty big portion. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich for $9.79 which comes with one side and a pickle. You can get chips or fries with it, or you can pay an extra couple of dollars to upgrade to fruit or a side salad. I did find it nearly impossible to eat because the sandwich was overstuffed and messy, a fork was necessary. I would have preferred they put half as much on and knock $1 off the price, but if you can unhinge your jaw you may prefer this portion. In all honestly, if the menu had listed the ingredients I probably would've ordered something different as the flavors just didn't work for me. The menu says it's famous so I'm sure some out there will like it. On the upside the veggies and wheat bread seemed fresh and the battered fries were hot and crispy. If we found ourselves in the area I wouldn't be opposed to trying them again. We both liked that they were open earlier than a lot of other places on this route before 8am on a Saturday, but we would both try something completely different. While the experience was a 3.5 for us, the friendly service and quality of ingredients bumped it up instead of down. I didn't find the food as satisfying as I would expect for the price, but I have been very forgiving of prices in the last year or so between supply chain disruptions impacting overall costs and businesses needing to bounce back however owners deem necessary. The quality of the ingredients make me sure we would find something we would like more if we choose more carefully next time. read more

Quaint little place. The inside is configured nicely. There is a peach wall..so cute! The service was great, and the food was good. I had the vegitarian omelette. The serving size was generous. The only issue was I wanted one pancake, and I was told they are huge and only can be ordered by the stack. The English muffin was a little on the tough side, requiring a knife to cut. Very minor. Additionally, the hash browns were very light and crispy, though my preference is a bit less done. That is totally a preference issue. My son had the cinnamon roll pancakes with a side of bacon. The pancakes tasted amazing, and were the size of hubcaps. You can ask for one, two, or three. Caleb could only eat half of the two he ordered. I can't imagine anyone eating three. They also came with a side of syrup, but the pancakes were certainly sweet enough on their own without the syrup. They were so good. The bacon was well done also. I prefer it a bit more on the underdone side, but that's just me. It is not a criticism. The ambiance of the place is very light and open, as well as quiet. So nice. Service was prompt and just right. This is by far the best breakfast spot in Carrollton now. There are two kinds of diner: old school and new school. This one is definitely new school, along with some healthy options. We have visited a few times the last month and the servers are very nice and friendly. They check back with us just enough to be helpful while not interfering with your meal or conversation. We have tried several different items on the menu with most being very tasty and the portions are above average on most dishes. The eggs Benedict's are good, the waffle is nice size and crispy with a soft center. There is another breakfast dish I can't recall the name with pimento cheese and chicken which my wife enjoyed the flavor but make sure your hungry it's a big portion. The country fried steak needs a little work. I wish they would focus more on quality with this than trying to impress with the size. You see the steak is the size of the plate. However, the meat is made so thin you get more breading than you do meat in each bite. I would rather have a little thicker piece so I get a good ratio in each bite. The steak should be the star not the breading. This was also cooked a little off as the breading still tasted like some uncooked flower was still there. It breaks my heart to write this review. My boyfriend and had have been taking covid very seriously. A few months ago we decided it would be safe to eat outside, and went to Sunny Street, one of our favorites before the pandemic, where we hadn't been for over 6 months. Our server, Yolanda immediately recognized us from the before times, even with our masks on AND even remembered our orders. The manager checked on us a few times, everyone was wearing masks and we saw things being sanitized. It was an overall wonderful and safe experience. We began going to Sunny Street every weekend, at non crowded times and sitting outside. Yolanda always ran out to greet us and the manager mentioned several times how happy they always were to see us. I always order the Sunny Street Benedict and one day the manager (I never got his name but he had short blonde hair and is so personable!) said, "if you don't mind waiting, I'd like to have them remake this for you, we know how to poach eggs here and I don't want to give you imperfectly poached eggs and ruin your breakfast." SO considerate. Of course I waited and it was delicious. All of this is to say, a month or so ago, we went to Sunny Street and the staff, the manager, everyone was all new. We didn't recognize anyone at all. The hash browns were overcooked (burnt) and the entire experience was sub par. We went back today, and it was very windy so we got our food to-go. While ordering/paying, the hostess pulled her mask down around her chin to yell to the kitchen (defeats the entire purpose of the mask.) and took our menus back from us and just puts them back in with the rest of the menus without sanitizing. The sign at the front still lists their COVID policies as "every employee will wear gloves at all times" (no one was wearing gloves) and all things will be frequently sanitized. (Obviously the menus were not.) If these policies were necessary when we were at 300 cases a day, I would think they would still be necessary at 4,000 cases a day, especially now that there's a new, more infectious variant that has been discovered in Texas. And last bit not least, I ordered the Benedict as I always do, when I cut into it, it was not a poached egg at all, but an attempted poached but overdone to the point of hard boiled, egg covered in hollandaise sauce. (Pictured) This was the most disappointing thing, especially since the previous manager took such care to make sure the quality of their food and poached eggs specifically was exceptional. I don't know what happened to this place; and it's so upsetting, since the previous staff and Management were absolutely stellar.
