He is so knowledgeable, honest and helpful as is his entire staff. Everyone is so kind and friendly that I truly look forward to my appointments. This office doesn't care. They overbook and you have to wait. They don't tell you how long. When I got upset their, unprofessional staff gave me the run-around. When the doctor came and saw I was upset at his staff he refused to honor his appointment and left the room and I had to get dressed with not having seen him. They told me never to come back. I was heartbroken and they didn't care about me as an individual. They told me I was rude for telling them I wanted to see my doctor within a half hour of my appointment. For some reason these medical offices are completely dismissing African American women not And not helping us properly putting us last Continuously. This Dermatology office is the best!! The office is super clean and organized, and the staff is always very welcoming. I travel up from South Orange County to have my laser work done by PA Zac Johnson. He is amazing - always professional and courteous. He explains everything clearly before he begins all procedures. This helps build patient trust and definitely puts my mind at ease. Zac is also thorough in explaining any after care that is needed. I most recently had some filler injections done by Dr. Azimi. Wow was he amazing too! He is very knowledgeable and super gentle. Great bedside manner, and just very zen energy which helped put my nerves at ease. He was very patient in explaining the procedure step by step. Solid business based on one visit so far. I found Dr Wang on yelp and sent a message asking for an appt asap due to an escalating issue. He replied within 24 hours and shared that he was on vacay but if urgent to go in bc there's lots of doctors that can help. That was "love" #1 I called right away and they luckily had a opening and fit me in same day with a PA. I was hesitant but I needed to see someone so I went anyway. That was luck but also "love" #2 Then I arrive, parking is super easy and then within 10 mins I'm being seen. Note that you should go to their site and print the first time patient docs before you go and bring them to submit. Makes the process far easier. Operational efficiency, "love" #3 The PA was sharp, I mean on it within minutes had things figured out, really smart and had a nice and professional bedside manner. Her name is Christina Beck. I'd highly recommend seeing her. And her assistant Alicia was great too. "Love" #4 The ambience of this office screams class, cleanliness and a sense of "trust us, we know wtf we are doing"! This has to be one of the most professional and well run doctors offices I've ever been in. Starting from the initial contact with the front desk staff, I realized they were a very well oiled machine! Melena was the MA who took me back, she did a very good job of assessing the situation listening to my concerns prior to having me meet with the PA. EVE KATZEN, PA-C.. it's always very reassuring as a patient when you can feel the confidence of the healthcare provider treating you. Eve was amazing, very knowledgeable great bedside manner. She listened to my questions and concerns, she gave me treatment options and algorithms that may best treat my situation and together we came up with a strategy and game plan! I really wanted to love this place! It's a beautiful office in a great location. DO NOT GO HERE! Dr. Merati had no interest in being personable, helpful or spending more time than she had to with me. My very first appointment- she mumbled her name and barely made eye contact. I had to look her up on the website after she left the room multiple times. Clearly, I was an inconvenience. Mind you, I waited about 45 minutes in the room to see her. She barely explained anything and when she did, I was given the medical terminology for issues. I'm not a doctor and would appreciate a bit more- what is this, why, how, etc.? COME ON- bedside manner 101. She asked me if I was allergic to some numbing agent (scientific name only) and I said I don't even know what that is. She basically shrugged it off and went ahead. My biopsy area was infected for a week after. I'm sure it was fine and I trust she knew what she was doing(?), but a little hand holding and explanation would have helped. Customer service is clueless. I wanted to follow up on further treatments, but they couldn't get me out of there fast enough and lost my "business" as a result. Also, I am pretty easy going and it takes a lot to make me upset. It's almost like they are actively trying to lose patients. Very odd and extremely disappointing. read more

I had an appointment to get a skincare regiment for my acne through telahealth (over the phone), which was a very convenient option for me since I have a busy work schedule. The whole process was very quick and easy, I had sent their PA Zachary Johnson pictures of my face early in the day and during my lunchtime he called me to thoroughly explain to me what was going on and to prescribe my medication. There are some great people who work here. But when it comes to the actual doctor we've been seeing, we are incredibly disappointed with Dr. Tran. Perhaps she is an intelligent, qualified doctor but her bedside manner needs a LOT of work. Over several months she treated my wife and I like we were both idiots. She was particularly rude to my wife who is an immigrant. Despite my wife's fluency in English and lack of an accent, Dr. Tran always spoke down to her as if she were an infant who could not comprehend the simplest concepts (exact quote from Dr. Tran: "if you get pregnant, then we need to talk about abortion. Do you know what abortion is? It means killing the baby.") No shit, doctor. Beyond this, she barely spent time with us during the appointments to address our needs and concerns. She was flippant and impatient. Fortunately, her assistant Denise was INCREDIBLE in going the extra mile after Dr. Tran dipped out after spending less than 5 minutes with us. But Denise is not always there. And ultimately we deserve a doctor who treats her patients with respect. Thus, we are switching to a new dermatologist today. Please go to another office for your dermatology needs, or at the very least make sure you are not paired with the unprofessional Dr. Tran. read more

I visited El Segundo Dermatology for my annual skin cancer check between July and September 2020, when I had a few suspicious spots biopsied and some cut off. The offices are new, modern, and very clean with a dedicated medical staff. I received great service and I really like the practitioner who took very good care of me and was very thorough. However, I would not recommend this practice because of its blatant incompetence with billing. I was overcharged twice, in September and again in October, for hundreds of dollars. The person in the billing department was unapologetic about her mistakes and refused to take responsibility for them. I discovered there was a problem after my first set of visits, when I received a text message saying I had a bill for $160. The text provided no details, no date of service, nor any information about what the charge was about. I called the office and left messages, and no one got back to me. I called for the third time and finally spoke to Katrina in billing. After checking my Explanation of Benefits and speaking to my insurance company, I realized that my actual responsibility was $39.09, not the $160 El Segundo Dermatology claimed I owed. My insurance representative called the office to confirm. I then forwarded the EOB to Katrina and settled up the bill. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again in October, when I received a text with a bill for $120. Again, I spoke to my insurance agent and left a voicemail for Katrina to please follow up with me. She never replied, so I sent an email asking her to provide details about the bill. I got a flippant response the following day with the date of service and line numbers, totaling the $120 charge, including an $80 copayment which I had already paid on the date of service. I double checked my Explanation of Benefits and sure enough, I was responsible for $22.62, not the $120 they claimed. I emailed Katrina about the inaccurate bill, attached all the documents I had, including the EOB and receipts for past copayments, and let her know my insurance rep tried to call her to confirm this and would be trying to reach her again. She never apologized, nor gave the impression that there was any urgency to resolve this. Rather, Katrina continued to blame my insurance company for her incompetence, telling me they sent the wrong information. If I had not been so organized with my medical records, I would've been out hundreds of dollars because of El Segundo Dermatology's negligence. That would be tough to swallow any year, but in 2020, when so many of us -- including myself -- are struggling to make ends meet, it's unconscionable. I suspect this is not an isolated incident. If you're considering visiting this office, be sure to check your bills very carefully. read more

Bad experience and I never give bad reviews on Yelp, I had treatments done which I was told was covered by my PPO very good insurance. After 3-4 treatments, I receive a large bill from EL Segundo Derm. When I ask about the bill I was told "oh the treatments are not covered" what? Why didn't you tell me!?!? Months ago? Accounting lowers the bill (not by much) and tells me here is you new balance! I have no choice but to pay or collections. Mind you my insurance pays for Dermatolgy! I just called this office to schedule an appointment for a patient and had the worst customer service ever!! They would not schedule an appointment without having a copy of the insurance card (front and back) either emailed to her or sent by text. I told her I was helping out patient schedule the appointment for a specialist office that had been approved by her insurance. I offered to send eligibility information from the LA Care website along with the Medi-cal card and she proceeded to say she could not schedule anything without both cards. Saw doctor Christine Kim just a few months ago and she prescribed me Acezone. For some unknown reason, she didn't put any refills on it but told me to take it regularly. For other topical medications, she's always written refills. Figuring it was an oversight, I called them on Feb 19, and the idiot who answered promised a call back same day. Two days later? Nothing. Crickets. This is the 2nd time I've called for something important only to never receive any call back. I conveyed the urgency in my call but once again, my message went into a black hole. El Segundo derm, you just lost 2 customers due to your incompetence. I will return to me west LA derm even if its further away.
