2 Visits - Part 1 - we stumbled upon Sinaloense while walking the Malecon and feel very happy we did. We couldn't find any information on Yelp but Google had a good rating and a number of reviews. Maps kept telling us it was 3 miles away until we realized there is another similarity named restaurant.
It is one of the larger restaurants in the immediate area and looked well maintained and friendly and the large upstairs patio just called us.
We were greeted immediately and had a bit of a communication blip but only because they are very thorough with the information they requested. How many, where are you visiting from, any allergies, any special occasion? Once we understood, it was actually very impressive that they cared so much.
The patio was of course as much as we'd hoped for. Very bright, shaded, clean and friendly. Their service is quite efficient and you may be a bit surprised by the number of people helping you. There's the drink order taker, the server, someone who brings you a set of condiments, complimentary crackers/tortilla chips and cup of seafood consume etc, and someone or 2 who help remove plates, wipe the tables frequently (cold drinks and humidity = condensation). But their attention isn't at all intrusive and everyone is so polite.
We ordered a giant Michelada w/Clamato juice (awesome) w/your choice of beer, Pacifico Clara for me. And a Agua Mineral Topo Chico for my wife (a very nice carbonated water).
The giant Michelada (see pic) didn't disappoint. It was a full liter mug with a yummy seasoned rim and a straw with a very unusual seasoning coating which I didn't understand what to do with at first. I've had over a dozen versions of a Michelada and this one Smoked them all, Wow! Oh, yeah while people watching I noticed that everyone was nibbling the seasoning from the straw. It took me a minute to get the action down because if you aren't careful the straw will flick a bit and well, the Michelada can easily be flicked across the table onto your wife. " Sorry honey!"
We chose the shrimp & octopus snack (big enough to share), shucked raw clams, Shrimp tacos & Philadelphia Fried Shrimp. Yep, it was to much food.
EVERYTHING was either very good or great and all at a very reasonable price. The clams were the only real surprise because they were HUGE! Almost a challenge to get down, ha!
Please understand that in general there is a language challenge unless you're blessed to speak Spanish. We don't and still found it to require only a moment or two of pantomime, pointing, nodding, smiling or shaking one's head was all that was needed to have a pleasant experience.
Anyway we were happily overstuffed and pleasantly surprised how good our whole experience was and all for quite a value.
Part 2 - reread Part 1 and add the Tuna sushi (biggest portion of fresh tuna I've ever had (and I lived in Japan for over 3 yrs.) Louisiana Style Shrimp with red sauce - just like a traditional shrimp boil, potatoes, corn, etc and giant heads-on peel your own dish Mexican style. (Stationed in Mississippi as well) and I was very happy with the dish. We repeated the Philadelphia Shrimp as well. Same wonderful service, same value. Highly recommend! read more
