I thought this place would be better than it was, the place has so much potential. We came to El Sitio for lunch and it was our first time here. The waiter came to take our drink order and since I didn't have my coffee yet at that point I asked if they had coffee. The waiter said they had "instant" coffee, really, because you can get a Mr. Coffee machine on Amazon for $25. How do they make the espresso martini's, with instant coffee crystals I guess. This is something they could easily change for $25. The best thing we had were the chips with salsa and pico. When we received that we had high hopes for the rest of our meal. That only lasted until the next item arrived at the table and that was the wedge salad. OMG!!! This is not even close to a wedge salad (see photo), it is more like a fajita salad. When have you ever had grilled pepper and onions on a wedge salad? The hot peppers and onions ruined a cold salad. A wedge is a simple salad with blue cheese, bacon and tomato. This had grilled pepper, onions, fresh chopped green onions and tomoto. The cheese looked like cotija or parmesan and the dressing was similar to a buttermilk ranch. We didn't enjoy it and the waiter kindly had it removed from the bill. My husband ordered the birria quesadilla because he was hoping it was close to a birria taco. He said it tasted like a greasy birria taco which is understandable because of all of the cheese on it. He also mentioned it was mushy meat and not shredded beef. I ordered the octopus tacos and I was highly disappointed by what arrived at the table. Once again, grilled onions and peppers (I get heartburn from cooked peppers so they came off immediately). Once I took the onion and pepper off that left me with chopped up little pieces of octopus and grilled onion. Thankfully my husband's plate had rice and cilantro and my plate had beans and pico, so I put all of that on the tacos so I had something to eat. I ate 2 tacos and left the 3rd. Honestly, it was work to eat the tacos but I didn't want to leave hungry. I read the one star reviews of this place and a lot of the reviews mentioned how long service took. I will say I thought it was a little crazy to have such a big space with one cook and one waiter, of course service is going to be slow. Our waiter was super nice and welcoming. I'm not sure how long ago this place opened but there are a lot of easy fixes that can happen to make it a better experience for everyone. read more

Wife and I were driving through Olympia on our way back to Seattle, and we stopped in because the building looked cute. This was hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Washington. One Star: A Disastrous Dining Experience Our server, Yasmine, was a complete disappointment. Her lack of enthusiasm and professionalism ruined our entire evening. She barely spoke, never smiled, and completely neglected our table. We were forced to flag down other servers just to get her attention. The "tableside guacamole" turned out to be pre-made and unceremoniously dropped on our table. When we questioned this, Yasmine responded with nonsense and stormed off. To top it all off, my wedge salad arrived with a baby spoon inexplicably stuck in it. Another server laughed when we asked about it, making the whole situation even more bizarre. We felt utterly ignored, disrespected, and frankly, a bit humiliated. Such poor service is inexcusable. We've never been treated so terribly at a restaurant before, especially without any apparent reason. She is a miserable server and clearly in the wrong profession. read more

Oh my oh my...this was such an amazing experience. The food was phenomenal. All the flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation of the meals were beautiful. The drinks were made with fresh lime juices and mint leaves. This is a place you have to check out. Even the decor was beautiful and authentic. When you step into the doors your transported into a little Pueblo and if I do say so myself "it's a Pueblo filled with amazing food, staff, and the drinks". Go check it out for yourself. read more

Went for dinner with friends. First, I have had a Mexican food all over the US, and in Mexico, so I am a huge fan. My husband had the item shown in the picture, which was the best meal out of the four, but was $30 alone. I ordered enchiladas, and received 3 small folder street tacos with a small amount of meat inside. They were dipped in a red sauce, that seemed to be on every dish, which was not very appealing in flavor. 3/4 of my plate was rice and beans. This was the same for the chicken dish we ordered, same sauce. The burrito was huge, but filled with beans, while all the meat, peppers, and onions were scattered across the top. Since it was on the outside it became a little dry. We left an appropriate tip since the service was very good, but for over $200 for four, I don't think I would return. While I understand the owners reply, it would be best to have options for the price. A traditional mole' would be an excellent choice. read more

We went for Mothers Day, with the inflation of prices going up everywhere this one was ridiculous. The main dish molcajete which was for my mom cielo mar y tierra came so COLD. The steak was cold, cheap, & fatty and bad quality. The chicken that came with it was COLD. This is after waiting for an hr & half for it to come out and we got in before they were "too busy". From the moment we walked in we weren't acknowledged shoulda known this place would suck. I ordered ceviche they didn't have tostadas gave me regular chips from a bag then offered me tostadas when I was already done with my plate... The only plate that came out hot was the shrimp they set on fire right in front of you. The presentation seems to b all they care about instead of warm and good food. I've been wanting to try this place since seeing it on social media. We were very disappointed. It was pricey for mediocre food. We both had a margarita which were about $13 each. I don't think mine had much alcohol in it. We got prickly pear on rocks and got strawberry blended. Oh there's also no drink menu which we thought was weird. Appetizer: queso with chorizo and crispy tortillas. It wasn't anything special. The presentation was neat. It was on top of a stone grill with a burner underneath heating the queso. Entrée: Pina Al Pastor and carne asada. Our meal only came with two tortillas. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be for my meal or his since we were both asked what kind of tortilla we wanted. If we wanted more we would have had to pay for it. The Pina Al Pastor was okay. The carne asada was lacking flavor,chewy, and went cold very fast. If they served it on a hot stone plate or something, that might have been better. The meals came with a side of beans, two sauces and pico. The green sauce was pretty good. It had a nice spiciness to it. We opted not to do dessert. We sat in the bar so I'm not sure how the atmosphere of the rest of the restaurant is. It doesn't have great ventilation though. We went in today around 2 and were the only ones in the restaurant aside from another table. We sat down, ordered our drinks which took about 15 minutes to arrive. When I got my drink (a virgin Bloody Mary) it tasted like fruit and vodka. I let them know it wasn't a Bloody Mary nor virgin. They didn't charge me. We waited about another 15 minutes to order; did the tostadas and salsa and pico for an appetizer. The only thing I liked was the green cilantro/tomatillo salsa. Seems weird there was even a charge for them compared to most restaurants. It was not worth the $6. The pico was terrible and not fresh. Food came and was ok and we only had one refill of waters. Waitress never checked in and we had to ask about the missing tortillas and find her. Mehhhh. It seemed like this was all hype. Was definitely not worth the price point they're looking for. First time eating here. We ordered the Parrillada plate for 3 of us ... a little bit of everything sampler platter, which is served on a Mexican hibachi thing. The food was really good. It was not served with a serving utensil so we snagged a set of cutlery off a neighboring table. The quesadilla was tiny and was the only cheese to speak of. The grilled corn was yummy. Lots of tasty meat. Not a carb heavy meal. The guacamole appetizer was delicious and fresh, but served on larger round tortilla chips that crumbled when you bit into them, and no plates to put them on. Speaking of plates, they are little wooden cutting board type things. I had a mojito that was perfect. My companion had a berry vodka something that she didn't care for due to floral notes. Dessert was chocolate flan which was yummy. Service could have been better. They may have been short staffed due to a "hiring" sign outside the door. Would we come back? Yes. My mom and I went for lunch. When the hostess/server approached us, she only just stood there looking at us until I had to say "table for 2 for lunch". Then she sat us at the first booth next to a large sub woofer pumping music with a lot of bass. I motioned to her we were moving down a couple of booths as my mom is older and we wanted to be able to chat and hear each other! We went for our first visit to El Sitio on a Monday evening. When we arrived we were greeted by a gentlemen and seated promptly. The restaurant was pretty empty except for one other table that walked in right before us. The ambiance of the restaurant is really cool. Very relaxing and inviting. Our server took our drink orders right away. I ordered a Cadillac Margarita. It was a little heavy on the Grand Marnier and could have used more mixer. But it was presented beautifully with an edible orchid. We then perused the menu for about 10 minutes. They have a great selection of food. Definitely something for everyone. They have items ranging from $14 all they way up to $100+! They include fan favorites like enchiladas, burritos and fajitas but definitely have items you will not find on your standard American/Mexican restaurant menus. We were not given any chips and salsa for the table, which is fine. I don't think that's something they do here and what one might except based on visits to other Mexican restaurants. It's cool, we opted for an appetizer instead. For our appetizer we tried the queso fundido with flaming tequila. It was soooo yummy! My only complaint is I wish there was more. It was served with homemade fried tortilla rounds. Get two orders for parties of 4. For dinner we ordered fish tacos and the cielo mar y tierra. Everything was excellent! Both meals were served with beans. And the beans were some of the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Both meals came out in a timely manner and were piping hot, literally sizzling! The three sauces that accompanied our meals were absolutely delicious! Watch out for the pale green sauce. It's got some kick! Overall, our time here was pretty solid. The reason for the 4 star review : They are obviously understaffed. Unfortunately, El Sitio is not immune to recent employee shortages plaguing our entire country. We were lucky to arrive before the rush. By the time we left, there were about 10 tables with our server appearing to take them all. Our server remained friendly though, and did the best he could. Item shortages. Again, not so much the fault of El Sitio's but nonetheless, there were items on the menu that were not available for us to try due to delivery shortages. Again, a common thing happening to restaurants and stores all across the country due to worker shortages. Despite these problems and a few hiccups in our experience, we will be back. Steak done to perfection, loved the salsas, and all food beautifully plated. This is a family run restaurant, the dad used to be a chef in Mexico. This place is new. New ambiance. I placed an preset for pickup. When you enter you have to wait for the hostess to sit you or greet you. I waited 10 mins still no one came to greet me. I played wash your hands with the cashier's adorable 3 yo son. I finally just walked through the restaurant to the back where I informed the cashier I was picking up my food orders. She shook her head and went to inquire about my order. A few minutes later she returned with my orders.I asked her if she could add the chips and salsa to the bag and she replied they were in the bag already. I got home to discover that the chips and salsa were not in the bag. The food wasn't that bad but they were very bland and rice was too wet , soggy.
