    Bourbon Lemon Drop

If you haven't tried Jean-Pierre's Three16 you are missing out. This place is a premier restaurant. The food, the service and ambiance are on point. This was our first visit to Jean Pierre's Three16 after a referral from another business, and it was a great referral. Our waiter was Skye and she was phenomenal!!! From the time we were seated until we left we were very well taken care of. We started out ordering drinks. Skye helped me to decide on a new drink I didn't think I would like, but I loved it so much I had 2. My drink was a bourbon lemon drop martini and it was Mmmmm good. I am not a Bourbon drinker so I was definitely on the fence until my first sip. My husband had a delicious cabernet. The menu had so many great dishes to choose from it was a hard decision, but we were both so happy with what we ordered. We started with the Normandy Escargot that came with grilled bread, this was an awesome start to dinner. We also split a wonderful Caesar salad which was a perfect portion given the dinners we ordered. For dinner I was caught between the Cedar Plank Salmon and the Seafood pasta, Skye to the rescue again. Skye suggested salmon with a side of seafood pasta and it was perfect. I wasn't able to finish my whole dinner, but it made for delicious leftovers the next day. My husband was stuck between the Blackened Ribeye and the Juniper Marinated Lamb Chops. The Lamb Chops had came highly recommended so he decided that would be his dinner. Let's just say, he couldn't stop talking about how delicious they were. We did order dessert and it was fabulous, we ordered a Crème brûlée which was divine and the portion size was perfect to share. We also ordered a Cherry Chocolate Torte to bring home. We had the torte with the left over dinner the next day and it was so decadent, we loved it. We will definitely be back, thank you Jean Pierre and Skye!

Such a nice, fun, personal touch from our server!

Looking for an excellent French restaurant without the snobby attitude and judgmental scoffs when you can't properly pronounce a dish that is...let's be honest...unpronounceable to a non-French speaker? Well good news, because Jean-Pierre's is it! We came here for a friend's birthday dinner, and it was lovely from beginning to very full end. The very cozy feel of the converted home (the 2nd oldest one in the area apparently...fun fact thrown in by our server) enhances the ambiance, especially in the small rooms used for group dining. The decor is comfortably imperfect, making for a relaxed, yet charming dining experience. Our server, who put in so much charm and effort (but not too much!) she must own the place, because the love for what she does was apparent in her conversation about the restaurant. We ordered probably more than we should have, but we're glad we did. The bacon wrapped dates are delicious, a perfect balance of sweet and savory, with a rather generous portion size. The escargot was buttery, tasty, and had an excellent texture. If you're looking to have someone try their first snail for funsies, or if you're a fan of naturally artistically shelled land-shellfish, this is highly recommended. Our friends ordered the potato soup as well, which we ended up splitting between the four of us. This actually turned out to be a good idea, because that soup, while delicious, is very heavy, and could be a meal on it's own. The Peppercorn Filet Mignon was delicious. Perfectly temped, very well seasoned, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The blackened ribeye with goat cheese, balsamic, and horseradish was excellent as well, a very balanced mix of flavors that didn't feel too heavy, even when we hit the point of being almost too full. The seafood pasta had wonderful texture, and a flavorful richness to it that really satisfied the occasional need to pick a pasta over an excellent steak! We actually opted to not have dessert because we were SO full from the meal, but because it was our friend's birthday, and our conversations about being from Hawaii with our lovely server...she actually brought us a creme brulee...in a Spam can! It was very delicious, and if getting a fancy dessert in a can of spam (no it didn't taste of spam at all, by the way) made the evening extra special and fun. We'll be back for sure with friends and family! Thank you for the lovely meal and charming experience!

Good Food and Service and the Ambience was perfect, it was My Husband and I Anniversary. The recommendations from the drinks to appetizer and entrees were spot on! Portion's were big, we took left overs.

My husband and I visited last Saturday evening to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. As usual, it was an amazing experience. Food was perfectly amazing and the ambience is cozy and so romantic. Our server, Kerri, was beyond exceptional! She was very attentive and personable. We loved every moment of our visit! Thank you for another wonderful experience. We can't wait to come back!

Next best was the bread - it was perfectly soft inside with a crispy crust. Between how oily the dish was and my nose running from the increased spice as I continued eating, I wouldn't return for this dish. The eggs weren't noticeable in appearance or taste- I had to search for them. The "creamy grits" were creamy, but the black pepper taste was STRONG. Definitely ordered the side for the "creamy" factor, hoping when the server said harissa in the eggs would have a mild spice, that the grits would calm my mouth. The amount of pepper made this unsuccessful. But if you like black pepper a lot then you'll enjoy them. My son enjoyed the beignet's. The server was also the host and he was kind. It was easy to get his attention when needed. I didn't see anyone with a grin on their face after taking bites of their food. I looked around quite a bit out of curiosity. So for ambiance, kind and prompt service, and the possibilities of the menu I gave it 4 stars. We only tried the few things I mentioned. I did also appreciate the bottle of water ready on every table. Note that there is no kids menu and it's mostly table seating. So maybe try on your own or with other adults, and leave the kids at home?

Aside from pizza, a burger and fries are Crankypants' favorite meal. This one he pronounced good, but not as good at his favorite (insert name of a nice casual dining restaurant in downtown Oly that opened at the height of the pandemic). I wasn't feeling all that bread, so I had a Caesar salad with a burger patty on top. If you're gonna serve a Caesar, it needs to be real (ie, at least a hint of anchovies for the umami). This one was pretty bland and the croutons needed to be crisper with more garlic and butter. They definitely deserve extra credit for sourcing local grass fed, grass finished beef. It's more expensive but it's better for you and the planet. I love really fresh cut fries with the skin on, and these would have been perfection, if they had only been served hot from the fryer. Finally, the beer: I had a pale ale that was just OK. Crankypants felt the same about his. Their glasses are really nice and enhance the pleasure of sipping. It wouldn't take much for this to move up to a 4 star destination. For that reason, we'll probably try it again sometime next year.

She was pleasant and sat us in the sunshine on the patio. I was sad to see so few patrons. I will review the best part first: THE COCKTAILS: The spirits and craft cocktail selection was huge / the beer & wine not so much. My Old Fashioned was perfect! Food: Seafood Rosé Pasta (bay scallops, shrimp, northwest manila clams, rosé prosecco cream sauce, grilled bread) -- inconsistent cook on the different seafoods & the sauce was meh. Not worth $42.00 Grilled Romaine Salad (white balsamic bleu cheese dressing, gorgonzola, cherry tomatoes, aleppo toasted hazelnuts) -- plenty of romaine, could've been grilled longer / not much quantity of tomatoes or toasted hazelnuts -- basically a "side salad" for $15.00 Lobster Bisque (house smoked tomatoes, roasted red pepper, cream, butter poached langoustine lobster) -- tasted more like roasted tomato / red pepper soup (no lobster or seafood flavors) - there were 4 small pieces of poached?? langoustine lobster on top - I question poached because the pieces definitely had a bite to them. Worth $15.00 -- no. Due to reviews we had the Baklava Crumble (pistachios, honey, vanilla ice cream) -- basically cut up (very chewy, not crispy) baklava tossed over ice cream for $14.00 -- maybe a bad night for this dessert? We like to support small Olympia businesses and will go back for cocktails but the food costs are too high - we don't mind high costs IF we come away satisfied - unfortunately the food didn't measure up to the cost. As we drove away, we saw the "Budd Bay Cafe" was very busy - I think next time we'll have cocktails at Cynara, then cross the street for food and wine. We were intrigued with the "Clam Chowder Entrée" which is served à la minute (Washington manila clams, bacon, cream, celery, roasted potatoes, grilled bread) -- is it a deconstructed chowder?? $33.00 Sorry no pics.

The food was just alright, but I was disappointed with what I got and was expecting more quality for the price. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Who and I was given a plate with a small handful of still-crunchy sliced bell peppers and zucchini that seemed that they had been in contact with heat for all of 30 seconds next to a pile of potatoes that were cold from sitting. The chicken breast was just meh, not very thick, not very moist, not very seasoned, not very much of it. Small amount of sliced prosciutto on top. I just think for $30 this was a ripoff by at least 1/3 of the price; I would expect an actual chicken cordon bleu at that price instead of this quick-service deconstruction. The blackberry mojito I ordered for I think $15 tasted pretty good but was missing the presence and flavor of any alcohol so there was no complexity, just ended up being a $15 refreshing fruit drink. My husband ordered an appetizer (Sirloin Diablo) for $27 and got a small bowl of steak tips submerged in a barely spicy (Diablo?) cajun cream sauce like a soup surrounded by some painfully plain, thin, unseasoned, boring grilled bread. It's not bad or very good by any means and just wasn't his thing, but charging almost $30 for that? At their prices and the way they are presented I was expecting a really satisfying dinner but walked away feeling like I would've been just as happy eating some standard fare at a local diner for half the cost.
