Veggie burrito with no cheese or sour cream making it a vegan meal
Rod S.

**VEGAN REVIEW ** The food is outstanding. Our food was fresh, plentiful, and tasted great. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. It was really that good. We had a veggie burrito and the 3 taco veggie plate. They left off the dairy (cheese and sour cream) to make it vegan.

So one random morning it was all about the tacos so we came here to see what was all good in it's own way. Of the taco choices I went with a chicken and a chorizo the chicken one was yummy it had a good flavor to it the verde salsa was good but kinda lacked any spice but the flavor of it made up for that and it went well with the rest of it. The chorizo taco was ok definitely not the best chorizo I've had but not the worst it was just ok and definitely not as good as the chicken one was. The quesadilla was interesting as it was a few corn tortillas put together to make it this is something I haven't seen very much before but it was perfect for sharing this way and that's exactly what we wanted to do with it, the flavors were all there the asada was good for what it was but definitely not the best I've had and the guacamole and sour cream on the side are always a good zest to anything that comes about. One thing I didn't like here is how the cashier tried to upsell us chips and salsa kinda playing it off as if it were free the way it should be as that's not the case here even after we spent quite a bit. Overall the chicken tacos were yummy the quesadillas weren't bad and this was just a mellow little visit but I don't think I'd venture back just for a chicken taco.

While traveling I found this gem! Delicious food, very friendly people, and a welcoming comfortable place to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

El sol Express is a great place to get food. They have many great options, my favorite is the smothered chicken burrito, which comes with a side of guacamole, sour cream, and tomato. The chips and salsa is good, great flavors in their salsa. Recently, I tried their fried ice cream, it was good however the exterior could be crunchier. Overall, excellent food and service.

A great place overall I had ordered a bean and veggie burrito and my husband the chicken chimichangas. As an appetizer we ordered guacamole which brought chips and salsa. 10/10 recommend!!!!!‼

Mixed taco platter with Carne asada, fried fish, and fiesta chicken.

I love this place and have never had one complaint. I usually get a mixed taco platter to go but this time I decided to dine in. We placed our order at the counter and sat down. We choose a booth but they have tables if that's your preference. Our food came out pretty quickly and was perfect. The food was hot, and the presentation was on point. I recommend fried fish, grilled chicken, and carne asada tacos. I always get the same dish. As of today, it's on the menu as the mixed taco platter for $16.00. You get 3 tacos of your choice, a salad, and rice & beans. Yummm! You won't be disappointed...Enjoy!

This a great place outside of Harrisburg. Happened to run across this place and had a great lunch experience. Tried the Carne Asade taco platter which were delicious. My meal was complemented with a lemon line Jaritos! Service was quick and courteous. If you a near this place stop in and enjoy!

Went for lunch before a birthday day party. This place is excellent!!! A small, nice quiet restaurant that give a generous amount of food. Will definitely be returning.

I love the dip sample! It had a bit of everything with some nice warm chips. The tacos are great too! Each taco came with another extra shell that I separated into two with veggies so 3 tacos became 6. Delicious!

The restaurant itself had a few tables, a frozen ice cream box, video chance games, a huge rack of phone cards and several pictures decorating the walls. Most of the pictures depicted scenes from mexico, such as poncho villa, zapata, rural life, cows, etc... one of the walls was covered in mirrors and had a sombrero hanging on it. They have standard tacos at 2.50 apiece, chicken, beef or pork. We tried several of them. There was also a Torta for 8.50 that was pretty decent. There was some type of hot sauce (Valentina brand) here that that we put on it made it significantly better. The helado de fresa or strawberry ice cream ($1.50) balanced it out. We also had the Bistek Ranchero: it came with 6 yellow corn tortillas, onions, cilantro, beans, rice & lots of beef, mixed with red pepper. That cost 14.00 pretty decent if you ask me. What makes this place stand out in my opinion is the " tostada ceviche de camaron " or lime marinaded seafood salad on a deep fried corn tortilla. This item is occasionally also available at competitors but not nearly as good. 5 Stars, incredible food!

Margaritas (both on the rocks and blended) were very good. The blended was smoother than any Ive ever had before. Chips had a strong corn flavor, but the bowl was half full for three people and had enough broken pieces to suggest we'd gotten to the bottom of the bag. The salsa was delicious, with just a hint of heat. Entrees included a Pizza Birria, which was like a quesadilla, but more interesting. The tortilla had a well-cooked look to it, the center layer of braised beef, cheese and onions was thick enough to satisfy even the hungriest. The majority was taken home in leftovers. Another "never before seen" items was the chimichanga -- available soft or fried. What? A chimichanga is a FRIED burrito. If its not fried, its a burrito. Which, soft in this version, looked and was delicious, but I'm still confused. Finally, my Chicken Mole Poblano. So Much Food! And it was yummy! Slightly sweeter than what I'm used to, but trust me when I say I scarfed almost all of it down -- without the tortillas. A great night out, I know more family will visit it this week. I think I'd like to go back.

My first visit to El Sol lined up with 3rd in the Burg, so I wisely made a reservation for 5:30…read more Turns out we arrived early and were seated immediately (maybe my "I'm starving" comment helped). Inside, the vibe is warm and festive: colorful artwork, low-top tables, a lively bar stocked with tequilas, and gorgeous Moravian star lights glowing overhead. The menu is extensive -- everything from tacos and burritos to rice bowls, full entrées, and massive multi-person feasts served in lava rock molcajetes. Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough. Bottom line: great food, colorful atmosphere, and a menu that's begging us to come back. Next time, I'm eyeing one of those lava rock molcajetes.
