Food was good. But we were overcharged and given an attitude for their mistake. We ordered macaroni and cheese, and quesadilla from the kids menu. She asked rice or beans or French fries. We said, one with rice and one with beans. She brought out the Mac and cheese with rice and beans, and the quesadilla with French fries. My husband said, oh we ordered one rice and one beans. Then he said, it's okay that's enough rice and beans to split between the kids. We get the bill and instead of 5.50 we were charged 7.35. When asked why, she said "it comes with rice or beans you ordered French fries." I said we didn't order French fries and she was like no that's not right. I said it is and stated my husband even commented on it when you dropped it off. She voided my payment then charged me again but seemed to be frustrated by it. After looking even further- they charged me $9!!!! For milk for the kids!!! $9?!?!! If I order it to go it's $2.74 and on the menu it's 3.99. But I thought like with every other restaurant milk is considered a drink included with the kids meal. When I brought that up she "said then you'd need to speak with the manager". I just left at that. Needless to say- check your receipts. She then said have a good day with an attitude. Bad service I can handle, but overcharging your customers, and making it as if it's their fault is absurd. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and enchiladas- they were good as always. Ordered Enchilada and tamale Combo plate. The Enchilada sauce tasted like canned tomato soup, the ground beef tasted like the beef inside a Chef Boyardee canned ravioli. The pork tamale was dried up and just not good.Also ordered Enchilada combo plate ,one shredded CANNED chicken, and one very dried out and crispy shredded beef. Also there was shredded cabbage piled on Top in place of they typical shredded fresh lettuce and chopped tomato one expects with a combo plate. The rice and beans were good. The service was fine and decore was nice. They told me they were sorry I didn't like it. I understand that restaurants have had to make cutbacks., but geeze taste ,the food you are sending out and make better choices. El Sombrero is a Mexican restaurant located on the corner of Palm Bay Road and Stack Boulevard. It is a spacious restaurant and while nothing overly fancy, El Sombrero is clean, bright and pleasant enough. For lunch, they have a decent enough menu with the usual lunch offerings. Perusing it and trying to eat a bit more healthy, I avoided the queso cheese burrito (the picture on the menu looked rather indulgent), but instead, I went with the carne asada. We also got a queso cheese appetizer and while decent, it wasn't anything special. Their salsa and chips were good, as well. The carne asada was a nice choice. The lunch special carne asada was fourteen dollars, which I guess is competitively priced to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Our server was friendly, but not really attentive. After our food was dropped off, the next time we saw her was when she dropped of our check. All in all, I will give it four stars. If I was right by here and wanted Mexican food, I would not have a problem coming back here, but I would not go out of my way to return to El Sombrero. read more

We went for an early dinner on January 16,2026 Friday night with my family. We ordered almost immediately. While we waited we ordered queso for the table side chips provided. Our food "Took FOREVER" getting our glasses full was a task. They didn't remove any plates. Things just piled up. Once the food came. The carne Asada was gristle non eatable. My fiancé didn't even eat it.. it was hard to chew and digest. I asked Natalie for a manager. After 30 mins waiting some lady named Joanie came to the table and said the manager isn't coming. I asked I'll wait and she said he's not coming. I told her I'm not paying for this disgusting over cooked meal. I am very disappointed. She said I will take 1 off but not both. We went about 5pm on Saturday night. The restaurant was full & there was live music which was an awesome surprise. We loved our meals & were full by the time we left! I asked for a special veggie meal that wasn't on the menu & they had no problem making it. The waitress was very nice & attentive. The other employees were in good spirits, singing & dancing to the live music. The restaurant & the bathroom was clean. The tables & chairs were comfortable. Second time at this restaurant but last night was Saturday night, so not as good experience as first. This restaurant has a very classy and visually pleasing inside. Seating area is large and booths are comfortable and wide , the tables are not pushed into your gut. Last night we waited at least 40-50' to be served our meal. This is way too long! Probably due to Covid they might be short staffed? But all employees are polite and responsive. Food is good but not exceptional but I do like it and love the interior. My daughter and I had dinner there last night. They were not busy at all, maybe 3 tables. We had to wait 10 minutes for a hostess to come up front and seat us. My daughter ordered a shrimp and rice dish (I forget the name) It came loaded with big shrimp, but it also came with a foreign object in it. I am guessing that they don't wash the veggies because the red pepper had a full supplier sticker on it. I brought it to my waiters' attention. He left, came back, and ask if she wanted something else, by this time she was full on what she had eaten before finding the sticker, some of my food, and chips and salsa, since it had taken 20+ minutes to get someone's attention. When he collected our dishes, he did a second take when he realized she had not eaten anymore of her food, but didn't say a word. He never offered an apology, a discount for food with a foreign object in it, and the manager didn't come and talk to us. I am sure if I made a big deal they would have made it right. Mistakes happen, but It would have sat better with me if they had made it right on their own. Additionally, I had to go the bar to ask for our check after waiting another 20 minutes for it. Afterwords the check arrived and we sat waiting for the check to be picked up again. 20-25 minutes past and still nothing. A different server came by and asked if we were done because they needed the table and that we should leave. I actually couldn't believe they said that, we told them we were waiting for the check to be picked up. That server didn't say anything, they just grabbed it and left. They serve food on a plate that is very hot but the food is not. I don't believe it was even up to temp for the health dept. Patricia was our awesome server but the others stepped in to make sure We were taken care of when she was busy. We stopped in to escape our reality of the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Initially all I wanted was a margarita and ended up having dinner. The restaurant was packed but the servers were friendly and did all they could to get the food out as soon as possible. The margaritas were strong and packed a punch-exactly what I needed. We ordered Diablo shrimp. It is really hot and I have a high tolerance for spicy food. The salsa had fresh jalepenos and had a kick as well. The prices are reasonable and the portion size is large. I'll definitely be back. read more

The tamale was ok but was small and didn't have much pork in it. The chicken and the beef enchilada tasted like they were watered down and had little flavor especially the beef.
