Had a blast dancing on the bleachers with my friend on a Friday night here at El Squid Roe. The DJs were giving us a variation of popular throwback music like Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Top 40 songs, edm- all the stuff that makes you want to dance to. Also, love that there's plenty of spots to dance on in this three floor club from the tables to the bleachers to the stripper poles to the dance area by the bars. Crowd is very mixed from young 18 years old to older tourist people. Dress code is none existent! This review is solely for their night life and club environment. The place is lively towards the late night hours. They'll refuse to take card if you are ordering from guys who are walking around, but if you order at the bar, they'll take card for you. Girls are walking around and squeezing jello shots down peoples throats, then will ask for money for the shots! LOL! Talk about schemin'! Almost all the tables in this place has a flat surface around them and poles for people to dance on. They also have some platforms that you can step out too around the second floor. This place is 3 stories, but it appeared that the third floor is for bottle service only. The MC is on the first floor on a platform while the DJ is on the 2nd floor. The many colorful signs around this place makes it amusing. The bathrooms were clean which was a definite plus especially for a crowded club. What we did not like about this place? Went the night before Halloween, it was a $20 cover charge per person that includes two mini drinks. You have to get your drinks from the upstairs bars. The downstairs bars do not except the free drink vouchers. People are ushered towards the middle and top levels, the waiters stated the main level was for bottle service only. We had a pretty cool waiter, took care of us all night long, music was really good, the place got really packed after midnight so if you go we should go before 11. Unlike the other clubs, which were more "higher end", this one was very casual! We could come in jeans and shorts and still have the time of our lives! Drinks were decently price! If you're looking to party in the most ratchet way you could think of, and wake up not regretting the one night you've gone all out of your shell. This is the pace. It's super fun and the crowd is wild and fun! The service is one of a kind, and by that I mean...they've got the bussers and servers dancing the "Soldier Boy", and the cocktail girls running around peer pressuring you to buy shots. If you do by a shot, they do this weird ritual thing where they blow their whistle, shake your boobies, spin you around, and shake your head (I guess to keep the alcohol flowing?). So you better be prepared to feel comfortable with that. If not, don't buy a shot. They have a good set of music playing. Very diversified, but it is majority "twerk" music such as Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Old school top 40, current top 40 hits, etc...They have three stories, and a middle stage on the main floor where all the action is. On each floor they have like "cage balcony areas" where your girls can have your "once in a lifetime" gogo moment. You try to come in on a weekend like SATURDAY...I'd suggest to go early like 7 or 8 pm early because trying to get in at 10pm is worst than trying to line up for a night club in Vegas. You have locals coming in too, and everyone is pushing and shoving to get in. "Survival of the fittest". Our first attempt on a Saturday we're shoving our way through, but we then decided to go on a Thursday and we went early and got in easy. Give it an hour and the people will start flooding in. I didn't get to try the food, but if you do you get your own booth area which is basically like a caboose on a train. You can watch the craziness while you eat. Yum! Squid Roe is arguably the best club in Cabo. The drinks are cheaply made, though full of liquor. It is not the cleanest place, but the music is great--they play all the top hip hop and pop songs! I'm going to start this review off by saying we came in for lunch on a Sunday, so I can't comment on the evening activities at all. That said - omg, this was probably my favorite meal I had in Cabo! They made fresh salsa tableside for us. They also made us ceviche tableside and an amazing shrimp in mushroom cream sauce - ALSO at tableside. Everything was incredibly delicious. On top of that, the serving staff was fun to interact with and we had no problems closing our tab while they prepped for their evening Superbowl activities. So disappointed. Place came highly recommended only for us to show up and they refused us service and insisted on us buying bottle service when 80 percent of our group did not drink. Wednesday night - pre-gamed with tequila from the wholesale market down the street (a tall, alcoholic lemon slush, kinda Fat-Tuesday sized cost us $20!), and had a blast with free tables, and danced the night away, while it rained balloons! Thursday night - we decided going to El Squid Roe three nights in a row would be kind of lame, but they were blasting the Wobble from inside the club, with employees and other people dancing out on the street! This place is a madhouse, in a good way. Lots of fun no matter what your age. The music is pumping, the margaritas are flowing, your booty will be shaking! I think they serve food, not sure if I'd eat at a place where people were just dancing in the table, which is encouraged. The "yard" of margaritas were $10 each, they will tell you it's buy one get one for $20. lol! The drinking age is 18 so there were a lot of younger kids drinking than what I'm used to seeing. Regardless, there are stilt walkers, confetti being blown around. The servers will totally mess with you, great personalities. Avoid this place tourists! They will over charge you for the drinks and give themselves a hefty tip without your confirmation! My initial charge for 2 bottles of tequila came out to $300! But I didn't check this until I came home and once the sale posted on my credit card I saw that it posted at $440! They gave themselves an unauthorized tip of $140?! Credit Card Scam Squid Roe is OK if this is your scene. However I can't recommend the place at all based on being scammed off of using my credit card there. (if you check other reviews this seems to be a re-occurring problem) Basically a $150 peso drink turned in to $150USD , and the guys added an extra $30 tip on top for themselves. I thought no problem - I can dispute this with my bank. Unfortunately I didn't have an itemized receipt , and while my bank ended up resolving it by giving a courtesy credit - that will result in them continuing to be able to pull this scam on other people. "Mother******" is NOT what you should call your customers. My aunt and uncle have a home in Cabo and have been coming to Squid Roe for 10 years. They have always been super generous with tips. The waiters all recognize them. This year, I brought 3 friends here and waiter Benito did not seem to recognize me (only been here once before). He waited on us. After we ordered a round of drinks, we looked at the bill/changes closely, it was less than what was suppose to be given back. My friend asked for clarification. Benito called him a mother******. This is AFTER we tipped him well already for the previous round of drinks. Feel like Cabo is becoming all about money. Maybe it always have been. It's sad. Benito, we forgive you. We come out here every time about 3-4 times per trip & it never gets old, especially during spring break. The drinks are super cheap and theyre not stingy on the alcohol.
