However, the meal was ruined by an employee/owner, who carried on a conversation with the table adjacent to us during the entire meal. Very aggravating. Been coming here for years with friends. Waiter remembers our usual order and chips are on the table in a flash. Ask for hot salsa. It's fresh, spicy, and flavorful. Most visits I get the street tacos. Chicken and fresh ingredients, corn tortillas, and not loaded with cheese so it's actually more healthy Mexican! Side of delicious black beans to go with. Their guac is good as well. They do allow smoking but if you sit further from the bar area it's not bad and I'm very smoke averse. Pancho Nachos - Vegetarian style are delicious. I always ask for chicken on the side which they happily oblige. I also order black beans rather than the refried beans. Their black beans are hands down the best in SC! They are made fresh daily. Service is always on point. We are seated quickly, and chips and salsa are brought out in a speedy fashion. Their fresh salsas are packed with spice and flavor, unlike a lot of other Mexican restaurants that bring out tomato sauce with no spice. Ambiance is good but the smoke is sometimes stinky so be aware. Despite ppl smoking in the bar, I'm highly recommending because food and service is outstanding. Service is always excellent even on busy nights. Food is freshly prepared and served in a timely, reasonable manner. As a vegetarian, I also love their cheese enchiladas topped with a fried egg. Hands down the best cheese enchiladas I've ever tasted. All of their dishes are packed with flavor and portions are large enough for a second meal, lunch or snack. I've tried many Mexican restaurants across the Upstate, most are mediocre. Most of the time we are disappointed with the quality and the taste of the food at other Upstate Mexican restaurants but NOT at our favorite Sabroso! We find ourselves always returning to Sabroso. First time being here and it started off good. After being seated our server brought us chips and three small bowls of salsa almost immediately. The chips were warm and the salsa was really good and mild in spice. We requested they bring a spicier one and he did fairly quickly. It definitely had a kick to it but was t uncomfortably spicy which we really liked. I ordered the Fajita Burro T (12.99) and my girl ordered the Tequila Chipotle Fish (14.99). My burrito came with refried beans and a bed of lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. The burrito was huge and I could only finish 3/4 of it and I'm usually a heavy eater but I think I filled myself up with chips and dip. No regrets. The fish was probably our favorite. It was cooked and seasoned well and the meat was juicy and not dry. We had a good time and a meal for sure filled us up. read more

I've been here twice in the past month to try a couple different items. The service both times was courteous and efficient. The first time I ordered chicken fajita it was the best I've had since moving to Greenville. The pieces of chicken were big, seasoned well and not overcooked, the portion was very large and included fajita vegetables. My second visit I decided to try an authentic dish, a Tamale combo with enchilada. I was disappointed in the tamale. It was dry and mainly the corn based dough not much meat. Typically tamales are served inside the corn husk, thin corn dough and filled inside with seasoned meat. This one was not like the traditional at all and it was drenched in the same sauce as the enchilada. Tamales prepared well don't need any sauce on them. Bottom line, this restaurant is a good solid choice for American version of Mexican but not authentic Mexican. read more

I've been coming here for years, the servers are always hospitable and helpful. Their appetizers are huge and enough to share or order as a main entree. We came for lunch at 1 to avoid the lunch crowd which they are typically known for. I had the opportunity to dine at Sabroso's this past weekend, this was a first visit. I originally ordered the grilled chicken quesadillas, but saw the pollo fundido and decided to change my order and get that instead of the quesadillas. It came with two sides and my sides were Mexican rice and refried beans. The chicken was tender, there was A LOT of onions on it that would have been good if they had been grilled until tender. I've had pollo fundido at Monterey's and it was chopped chicken with spices cooked inside a tortilla with a lot of cheese. That's what I thought I was getting, my mistake. Tucked in a strip mall on Woodruff Rd is where this gem is located. My husband and I were looking for something either Oriental or Mexican for our first anniversary dinner. So we chose this restaurant, it doesn't look like much on the outside but the inside is nice, it's decorated with colorful banners hanging from the ceiling. There is a separate bar you can sit at on the right when you approach the hostess. The seating was casual and comfortable and very clean. Our waitress was this sweet woman that was on top of her game with refills such as our chips and salsa along with our drinks. The menu has everything with so many options, we ordered the Queso Cheese dip for a starter (it was delicious). My order was the combo with chili relleno, tamale, and enchilada with beans and rice. My husband ordered the combo with a taco, enchilada, burrito and a side tamale. I'm going to start off with the chili relleno because this will either make it or break it if I will ever eat at the place again...They passed that inspection with flying colors! It had the perfect crisp from the batter, the chili was charred perfectly and was packed with beef and melty cheese! Mmmmmm! The sauce and seasonings on everything was unique and I couldn't stop myself from eating it all even though I was beyond filled! Everything was perfectly made, it all had amazing flavor and you can tell it was all fresh! Even the complimentary salsa and chips were right on! The price was just right for all the food you get. We've now given this place two chances, no more. First off, the food is bland. The cheese dip came out room temperature at best. To say there is a lack of seasoning would be an understatement. Second, if you are a non smoker beware, smoking is allowed in the bar area and the smoke/smell does not stay in the bar. We have had much better Mexican at other restaurants in the area. That being said the service was mediocre at best, seeing as we were walked by several times with barely a glance, hence one star. read more

My wife and I went there yesterday for an early dinner and really liked it quite a bit. The chips and salsa were there minutes after we sat down and the salsa was fresh and quite good. We started with the queso fundido which is a normally a blend of soft cheese and chorizo sausage, but this was more of a skillet appetizer. It was quite good, but not really the dip from the dip section we had in mind. My wife got the tequila lime chicken which was a great sized portion with tons of phenomenal flavor. We both tried it and came away quite impressed. I had the Tacos Al Carbon which the server offered to do one of each (Pork, Steak & Chicken) without me having to ask. What a delight as they were delicious. Service was great. He answered questions, made honest recommendations and always was there when we needed them.
