Messy california burrito
Lisa N.

This review is based on my Uber eats experience. I was craving Mexican food and I decided to order Uber eats from this place. What caught my eye was their California burrito. Price was more reasonable than other Mexican spots suggested. I asked for no beans and extra grilled/toasted burrito and that's what I got! It was a big burrito but horribly wrapped. Like it wasn't even a long burrito shape but chonky square shape. A few bites in, and the burrito started getting messy and falling apart. It became an opened faced burrito so I had to eat with a fork instead. Carne asada was fine, lots of avocado, and cheese. I didn't really like Spanish rice?? It was very mushy. As for the French fries, I was expecting thin cuts and crispy right?? Nope, it was soft thin wedges. Their salsa roja and salsa verde was flavorless and bland. It didn't even taste like what it should be. Bummer. Overall, not really satisfied with my meal.

I'm hanging out at Chico taco with my friend, Kim. I love this place so much I came back two days after trying it out for the first time.

I love this place! Yum!!! This place is so quiet. Food is delicious. Don't let this place pass out of our neighborhood, come support this wonderful little Mexican place right here in Oak Park.

Chicken Street Tacos Order of 3 With R & B

Uh. Yum!! Tucked away in the corner of a sleepy shopping center, you might never know this is here. But look hard, especially if you're a local, because this isn't your everyday Mexican We ordered the enchiladas with green sauce (chicken) and chicken street tacos. Delicious. The rice is a little bland, but an absolute perfect companion for the flavor of the entrees. The beans are interesting - not refried, and almost like a black eyed pea. Tasty though! The enchiladas aren't smothered in sauce, or covered in cheese but you won't miss them. The chicken is so well marinated it needs very little else. Street tacos are simple, way better than Sharky's, and hit the spot. Highly recommend!

A dirty snowboard against the drink machine

AVOID! This place literally sells flavorless garbage. I just threw out $50 of food (chicken burrito, California burrito, chicken flautas, and cheese quesadilla). The food has no flavor, the meat has cartilage, the quesadilla is basically microwaved. The salsas are all mediocre to terrible. I was tricked by the overall positive ratings. The restaurant itself is bizarre. There are cords hanging everywhere, a random 2x4' wood precariously balanced across the ceiling, a dusty SNOW BOARD stored next to the drink machine, and mismatched partially dirty salsa cups for self serve salsa. I was ready to look past the obvious red flags in hopes of a much needed authentic restaurant. Unfortunately, in this case, if it looks like a dirty disgusting hole-- it is.

2 chicken pastor and a pork pastor.. fire

Came on a rainy day and was a little skeptical walking into an empty restaurant. But the gentleman who helped me order was very nice and friendly. When the food came out I was very impressed. Photo should say it all but I will be back. Thanks Guys.

Carne asada sope

If I could rate them -1 start I definitely will! This place was the worst experience I ever had in a Mexican place in CA. I ordered 2 carne asada burritos and (2) carne asada sopes...I was charged over $50 for them and the burritos were pretty much just dried rice and watery flavorless beans and couldn't even taste the meat, the scopes were dry, though, greasy, flavorless and the meat was very skampy...I could count each mini piece of chopped meat piece on each sope, the lettuce topping was wilted...overall it was so disgusting that I couldn't even eat it. The place was unattended and messy and the service was terrible....Definitely a lot of opportunities to improve customer service

Ordered asada nachos sadly they gave me cut up hamburger meat sad day

Ordered asada nachos sadly they gave me cut up hamburger meat sad day. And as you can see it's fried beans, it's pot beans. And who puts pickled onions on nachos?

Chicken enchiladas with rice and beans

Fresh ingredients and quick service. I tried the meat and cheese fries and they did not disappoint. And the chicken enchiladas, spicy and very good ( green). Will be back to try other items! The beans were tasty, just could use more! Mas frietos por favor.

I can't believe I let so much time go by before coming back. I was craving tacos on Taco Tuesday…read moreand remembered how much I always enjoyed Los Agaves. I'm so glad I came back--it reminded me why this has been one of my favorite local restaurants for years. From the moment we walked in, Sammy took great care of us. We wanted to sit at the bar, and she made sure we got seats right away. Throughout our visit, she was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Service like that makes a great meal even better. The tacos were absolutely outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and every bit as good as I remembered. And the margaritas? Still some of the best around. It's hard to beat great tacos, an excellent margarita, and top-notch service all in one place. Sometimes you forget just how good a restaurant is until you go back, and that's exactly what happened to me. Los Agaves hasn't missed a beat. Great food, great drinks, and outstanding people. I

Food was a 5. Also some of the best guacamole I've ever had. The concept of wait to be seated,…read morethen order at a counter after you're seated, then they may bring you chips and salsa 7 mins after a person who sat down after you and got them right away...hard pass. Service... if you like no follow through and people who can't look at you while speaking to you, maybe it's for you. None of the soda fountain was working, they knew about it, and multiple people said they'd bring me the soda I paid for, and it never happened. Back to the counter to get a refund. You'd think if they knew sodas weren't streaming they'd either stop letting people purchase or refund proactively. They don't. Bizarre concept, will never be back. Plenty of Mexican places with great service and food.

Great!! Great food. Great Margaritas…read more. Great people!! I specifically love their soup.

"Sancho"--a name whispered with a grin or a wink, often referring to the side piece, the other…read moreperson, the indulgence you're not supposed to talk about. And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.
