    Tacos: Asada, Pastor, Cabeza

The Tacos were delicious, 3 for 9 plus soda included! Really loved their handmade tortillas, really took me back to Mexico City! Would definitely come back!

I checked in to give this place a try until I seen the "Cash Only" sign...

A friend of mine decided to stop by this location. I stopped by before with another friend of mine but we noticed they took cash only and that sort of canceled our plans. I noticed through the reviews many people raved about this location so of course it made me curious. The service is very efficient and welcoming. Parking pretty much depends on the time you arrive because It's limited. The dining area on the inside and the outside is quite tight and small so it's better to take your food to go. I tried their chicken tacos with a squirt. My friend decided to go with carne asada tacos. She was very pleased with how tender the meat was. Me personally, my tacos taste ordinary, nothing really stands out about them. The prices are quite high but the portions aren't all that great. I appreciate the fact that they have a mini bar with the different toppings that you might appreciate.

First of all, I was going to swing by after work one Friday and I saw that it was closed at 5:00 PM. I thought they closed due to Covid because the hours on here and their website said open until 8:00 PM. So recently, I decided to call around 11:00 AM and the guy that picked up said they're open until 4:00 PM. Okay, awesome! I found parking right by the front. Parking is horrible in South LA so you may have to circle around 2-3 times. Even the neighborhoods are full. There was a little window that says "order here." I ordered lengua, carnitas, al pastor, and cabeza tacos. The cashier got my order wrong, but I didn't realize this until I was back at work... so minus one star for that. I brought some home for my husband and he loved it. I just reheated everything in the toaster oven for 8-10 minutes. The hand-made tortillas hold up really well and prevents the taco from getting soggy. The taste of the carnitas and cabeza were absolutely amazing. That flavor was delicious and you can't find it around the O.C. I thought the pastor was just okay. I really enjoyed the sauces and the pickled carrots and onions. Cash only. Will come back to try other items on the menu.

I love love love this place!! If you're ever in South Central L.A. and have a craving for some real, authentic Mexican food, El Tacorin is the place to go!! It's a little hole in the wall and sometimes hard to miss if you're driving down Broadway too fast but it's worth stopping and turning around for. I ordered a shrimp taco, fish taco and carne asada taco. All three were extremely delicious and unique in flavor. While you're there, don't forget to grab a Mulita, they are equally amazing!! The place is extremely small and has about 4 seats inside and maybe 3 outside. If I go, I make sure to go before the sun goes down... ijs Enjoy!!

    Pastor Tacos

Have you ever been to a taco place that has really good meat or good tortillas, but rarely both? This place has BOTH. We watched our freshly made tortillas come off the griddle. The pastor is perfectly seasoned. Not too tough or chewy. Hands down some of the best I've had in LA. Try their pickled carrots. You won't regret it. Very nice staff! Only downside is their hours are a little short. 8am- 4/5pm most days. Great for lunch.

Bomb! Wasn't sure because of the look of the place but I am glad I tried it. 5 stars meat was tasty and cooked to order.

This is the original La Taquiza. They're popular for their mulitas. A mulita is two torillas, cheese, meat, and guacamole. It's basically a tortilla burger, sans beef patty. The food is almost the same. The meat has changed slightly. Maybe it's the way they chop their asada, but I'm not sure. I feel like it used to have more of a charcoal flavor. The new owner is the cousin of the original, and they said they didn't change their recipe. I still love their home made tortillas, and the salsa bar is still the same. If you've ever been to the one near USC, then this place is very similar. The one by USC does offer more varieties, and holds a more expansive menu, but this place makes tortillas as you order. That's a key difference. Decor is minimal, and by minimal, I mean nonexistent. There's barely anywhere to sit. Please don't come here for any other reason than a quick eat. The food speaks for itself.

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. The booths had huge pillows that made them surprisingly comfortable and inviting. They also have a huge selection of alcohol, including plenty of mezcal options. Parking is available through street parking, valet, or a nearby lot for $9. Salsa Molcajete -- $7 The portion was smaller than I expected, but the spice level was just right. The salsa had a very smooth consistency and came with a good amount of tortillas. The tortillas were thin and crispy, which I really enjoyed. Aguachile de Camarón -- $18 A good variety of ingredients came with the aguachile, including red onion, cucumber, tomato, and radish. Each added a different flavor and texture, which made the dish more interesting. It leaned a little sweet for my taste, but the shrimp itself was cooked perfectly with a great texture. Daisy's Branzino -- $28 The branzino was a little smaller than expected, but this ended up being my favorite dish. The greens on the side added a nice freshness, while the crispy skin gave the fish a great texture. The guacamole was also a really good addition and elevated the dish. It was slightly on the salty side, but overall, the flavors worked really well together. Carne a la Parrilla -- $58 We ordered the steak medium and it came out cooked to perfection. The meat was tender with a good amount of char flavor, and the accompanying sauce paired really well with it. The flaky salt on top was a particularly nice touch and added just the right amount of seasoning. Virgin Horchata Pretty standard horchata and nothing particularly unique. It had a heavier cinnamon flavor, which was nice if you enjoy cinnamon-forward horchata. Virgin Jamaica & Mango This was much more refreshing. It tasted very fresh, almost like the flavors came directly from the fruit and plants themselves. Definitely my favorite of the two non-alcoholic drinks. Overall, Mirate is definitely worth checking out for the atmosphere and presentation. The outdoor seating is beautiful and comfortable, and while some of the portions were smaller than expected, the quality and flavors of the food were generally very good. The Daisy's Branzino and Carne a la Parrilla were my standouts.
