Traveled from So. Cal to Texas for a mini vacay and looked for a good restaurant to eat at since we didn't know the area. Came across El Taquito and it was amazing! My hubby had Gordita's and they were HUGED, I had chipotle flautas and our kids had quesadillas. It was delicious! Best restaurant that we ate at in El Paso. Our server "Angel" gave us the best customer service we have had in a long time. He was excellent! They were soo busy and people coming non-stop and he was very attentive. I've had breakfast and lunch at El Taquito on two separate occasions. Breakfast was not my favorite, felt the food was excessively greasy but lunch was pretty good. I tried the Chile verde gordita with shredded beef and it was delicious. I only wish the Gordita had more filling, I ended up ordering a side of the Chile verde but still seemed like a small portion for the price. read more

I see no reason to give this lil' joint in the back of a shopping center less than five stars. The atmosphere is excellent. The entree that my friendly waitress Adrianna recommended was delicious. I chowed down on the Southwest (6), which is well, six rolled tacos with a sauce on top. I opted for the Chipotle Cream Sauce on the side which I drizzled over top. (I got two more sauces to go and slid them in my backpack for the ride to Tucson where I be frying up some chicken for my peeps at Thanksgiving. Shhhhhh,...) We went in because of yelp and so glad we did!! The location is a bit odd (off a major road but behind the laundromat. The restaurant itself is small but very clean and the food was delicious! We both had the Santa Fe tacos,which are basically 3 small street tacos with chucks of grilled chicken, bell peppers, bacon and onions served with or without rice and beans. Then we did a fresh made to order bowl of guacamole and home made (and they were still hot from being made) chips and water. Try do have interesting drinks like cantaloupe juice but no iced tea. But the food was great!!! I would go back in a heartbeat!! And our server was super nice and polite and made several recommendations that were spot on! read more

Tacos al pastor and two bistec gorditas. The tacos came with cabbage, lime, rice, and beans. There were four of them. Total was $16 and change. Enough food for two of us. The hot sauce was a great compliment to the well-flavored dishes already. Will try the flautas next time. Wow! Came here looking for breakfast, it was after 11, they said they don't serve after 11, however, the waitress checked and they said they could make me breakfast. I ordered a potato, egg, bacon, bean and cheese burrito. I then ordered the special, which was tortilla soup with flautas rice and beans. The waitress suggested the chipotle flautas. The burrito came out first, it was good, homemade tortilla, nice. I ate half and waited for the rest of the food. The soup came out first. The broth looked lite and I saw carrots, onions in it. I got the chips on the side. I tasted it and thought, its not bad. Then as I kept eating the soup the flavors really came out. It was warm, comforting, I kept saying this tastes like a grandmother made it at home. It was delicious. So tasty, so complex, so many depths of flavor. I thought... I bet they would serve this in a fancy restaurant and charge a lot of money for this soup. I finished the soup then my flautas with rice and beans came out. Boy, oh boy, the plate was good! Three flautas with chipotle cream sauce with lettuce, tomatos, onion and avocado. They were scrumptious! The bean and rice had a nice light flavor but that chipotle sauce, Yum-O! I finished my meal and ordered a soup to go, it was that Good! All that plus a tea was $16 and some change. I will definitely be back! Please give your taste buds a treat and eat at this restaurant! I came for lunch today and ordered tacos. The flautas are apparently what they are known for here, but I got tacos... because if I came all the way here I had to try some authentic tacos. The prices were very reasonable. The staff are super friendly, and when you walk in the interior has a hole in the wall and very welcoming feel to it. It looks like a family owned business, but I may wrong on that. I loved it all. I ordered chicken tacos with avocado and cheese on the side. I also had rice, beans, & lettuce. I kept it very simple. The simplicity was really all that the meal needed. The taco tortilla was freshly made! And the texture is something that I had not had before. The chicken had enough flavor. Success finally a local place with superb customer service. We called around 10:10 am to check what time they stop selling breakfast the women on the phone tells me 11am and gives me a list of their specials. We arrive at the restaurant around 10:30am, they tell us to sit anywhere. A server comes over we ask her if we can still order breakfast because it's almost over she says yes of course and takes our drink order. We ask for coffee they don't have any but she offers to make a fresh batch for us. I ordered the huevos con papas, its 2 scrambled eggs potatoes with a side of beans. I also order a cheese and bean gordita which was wonderful. My spouse had the huevos a la mexicana, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions and wonderfully hot delicious jalapeños, potatoes and beans and a side of mole. Yelp has not failed us yet on our cross country jouney, little hole in the wall (the best kind), hidden in a plaza behind laundromat. Food was incredible, we had soup of day (Chicken) and probably could have stuck with that and been full, happy and content but we left fat, stuffed and still content-Soup was so good, had to order another one as we may never have the opportunity to enjoy again (that is how I justified it)- LOL. Traveled with 3 family members across three states over a week long trip and we were all in agreement. This was the BEST food we had our entire trip! A fairly small restaurant, not many tables and small kitchen, but MY GAWD, it was all SO GOOD! Best flautas I've ever had. Rice and beans were JUST like my great grandmother from Chihuahua used to make. It was a great flashback. My grandmother loved her milanesa, she was so excited to see it on the menu, as many places in California usually don't serve it. She said it was delicious. I ordered a side of guacamole, and usually places overload it with onions and tomatoes and leave very little avocado; not this place! It was great, very homemade style and much like how I make my own. The fresh tortilla chips that came with it were also very good. Not over cooked or over salted. They practiced social distancing between tables, wore gloves and masks, changing them out with each order. I felt very safe eating here! I can't praise this place enough, it was really great and I see why it has such great ratings. I'm looking forward to another trip to El Paso just to come back here again! read more

I stopped here when I was driving through because I saw that it had such great reviews. I ordered the Al Pastor taco plate and it was fine. Loved the fresh cabbage and the super hot green salsa on the side. Disappointed they don't make their own tortillas. That's the mark of a great Mexican place IMO. So is Caldo de Pollo which they only have that once a week (and not on my day to visit, sadly.) Also they don't have many chicken options. This is my pet peeve - shredded chicken is not even available in tacos or quesadillas or burrots. Only in the mole plate. I got the Gorditas Rojas and huevos rancheros. Let me tell you. There is a reason why this place is #32 in Texas according to Yelp. The huevos rancheros were good BUT the Gordita Roja with the salsa roja has to be the BEST Gordita I've ever had in my life. "Don't know how this place has a 5 star rating" My first time visiting El Paso, I decided to try Mexican, an obvious choice right. Used Yelp to help me find the highest rated restaurant nearby. Found El Tacquito. Before going on any further, let me throw a disclaimer out there: I am not a Mexican foodie. I don't know anything on the menu. So this place is located in the back of a building complex. Not so hard to find. They have an open kitchen which you can see how your food is prepared if you like this sort of things. I think mainly because the place is tiny itself so couldn't really afford to be compartmentalized. Something that's common between a Mexican kitchen and a Vietnamese kitchen? The kitchen staffs are constantly yapping about things which I'm ok with because it shows a good working dynamic. I got a large cantaloupe water drink. To me nothing special, just sweetened water with cantaloupe flavor and cream. Then my waitress suggested the rancheros (flautas) which is good. I like the small amount of salsa sauce underneath which gives it a tomato-y flavor and well as lessening the cheese on top while keeping the flautas crunchy. Then my server brought me more salsa sauce telling me to help making the flautas more soggy. I tried it and I prefer crunchy over more soggy for sure. I ended my meal with some caldo which is ok. I thought the broth was in the bland side but I haven't had a lot of caldo so I am not sure. The best part about this restaurant is the price, SUPER CHEAP. Large cantaloupe water + rancheros plate + caldo cost $14. This place currently has 5 stars on Yelp, which is a little too high in my opinion.
