    #2 Mexican plate

The service was ok, might be better if you've been there before. This was my first time but they expected me to know to seat myself and their tone expressed that. I'm no snowflake so I was ok but with most ppl so nice in El Paso, it was just unexpected. Ambiance was ok. A level above hole in the wall. With all the Mexican food I've had in El Paso, this place was below average. The salsa Verde was my favorite song with the cheese enchilada. The tamal, I didn't eat most of it. The rice seemed old and if there was a microwave Mexican rice, that's the way I would expect it to taste. The beans were good but then again, I don't think you can find bad beans this close to Mexico. Writing the review, I've come to realize, I really only enjoyed the horchata and the salsa Verde. I won't visit here again. It wasn't awful but it was below average with what you could find on Montana street or anywhere else close by.

Chips and very savory greenish salsa? Very good, good spice.

I have been here a few times. I feel their food is simple, pedestrian Mexican food. They serve those Hard tortillia chips with salsa which I'm not a fan of those real hard chips. But that salsa Is some avocado green puree spicy something you don't get anywhere else, it's savory with a kick. If Mexican food has umami , then this salsa has it. It's really good. I got the tacos hoping for crispy tacos. I got about half that. They fry their own shells from corn tortillas, but only on one side, then fold the other side over, add lettuce, a slice tomato and some white bold grated cheese. I had the ground beef but the alos offer Chicken. I think the cheese was so strong it overwhelmed the flavor of the beef. Maybe more beef in the taco or a milder cheese. I sampled the meat by itself and it was delicious but al together all you could tastes was cheese, I know I'm most cases more cheese is better, but in this case it overwhelmed the tacos. The rice was perfect, not sticky or gummy, but fluffy, flavorful individual grains. I added a cup of caldo de res but there was no meat in my cup, lots of carrots and other veggies. The broth was amazing. But my FAVORITE thing was the Charro Beans. Now when I order these normally I expect pintos with onions, tomatoes, jalapeno, cilantro, etc...this wasn't that. It was what tasted like slow cooked all day long pinto beans with pickled jalapeno and onions. And though there was no meat in mine, you could taste the seasoning or background of smoked porkiness like ham or hamhock, but there was no grease on the top. I loved these. I wish they had a piece of jalapeno cheddar cornbread to go with a bowl of them and id order that every cold winter day. It's not too busy I'm here on a Saturday afternoon. It's handicap accessible with ramps inside. And it seems like family home cooking.

Ok, here's the deal. You walk in and seat yourself, fine by me. Heads up...the ramp is not ADA compliant. Ordered a beer, came quick with a frosted mug (bonus points) accompanied by two salsa options and chips. The green one was delicious!!! I asked the waiter what it was and he said "green salsa" and then when I said I really like it! He responded with "I've Berber tried it" . The other salsa was a bit watery and had more jalapeños than tomatoes, but good enough. Chips...meh, not a fan of the thick cut chip. The food came out quick! Chicken enchiladas were pretty good...chicken was a little watery also, not sure if they maybe boil it? Regardless, I smothered it in that "geeen salsa" and devoured it...I hadn't eaten all day. Service was quick. Food and beer was super affordable. So there you have it!

Taco Tuesday! Go to Dominguez! I loved it. I was visiting from out of town and I wanted some tacos. They have a special for dollar tacos. They are crispy tacos and had great flavor. The tortilla soup is also very flavorful. On this particular night it was a little cold so the tortilla soup warmed me up. Next time I'm in town I will visit Dominguez even if it's not Tuesday!

Enjoying our week as a family so we decided to try a traditional place in El Paso. There are just restaurants with longevity and Dominguez is set place with name recognition. Nice looking place with established clientele. The personnel are customer friendly. The restrooms very clean at the back of the main dinning room floor. The kids ordered chicken strips and cheese burgers. Wife had Tacos Desebrada and I had Rib Eye with eggs. The kids meals are what can be expected in a traditional Mexican restaurant. The Desebrada tacos were ok and what is expected nothing fabulous. The meat was flavorless yet it had some flavor added with the red salsa. The eggs were overcooked with a very hard yolk. In a nutshell this place is established with a lot of regulars. The Mexican food was average so if you want a quiet friendly place with a lot of parking Dominguez is your place.

    Taco Tuesday!

While the food was never the primary…read morereason I returned, the excellent margaritas and outstanding service kept me coming back for nearly two decades. Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

The food arrived within about 10 minutes for our group of six, which was impressive. The complimentary fried tortillas were very good, and the salsa was enjoyable as well. I ordered al pastor tacos. The flavor was good, but the meat was very dry. I liked the portion size, especially the amount of meat, but it would have been excellent if it were not so dry.

About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. It reminds me of a Mexican parrillada/ grilled cook out. The food here was very good, good tasting, and in spite of the small glitches worth it. We will be returning again.

Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite.
